This was completely useless. This is not mesh, so we had a separate extended network. The extended network still had a poor signal and did not help with any dead zones or slow speeds. Additionally, the setup was a nightmare. I wish I would have returned it immediately.

      Hi, Angela,

The Linksys RE7000 WiFi Extender should expand the WiFi coverage up to 2,500 sq ft and eliminate dead zones. However, allow us to investigate your Linksys extender. You can share more details at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link to this review for our reference.

After HOURS of being told to do the same tasks over and over by the manufacturer's rep, they lost connection with me...leaving me without a functioning (as intended) wifi extender. Unfortunately, the store wasn't answering calls and wasn't taking returns due to COVID. Frustrating at the least!

So I purchased the range extender to get a wi-fi signal at the opposite end of my home due to dead spots based off of reviews and the Best Buy sales rep. Needles to say, I'm not sure if the device works or not as it constantly drops the signal and won't allow other devices to connect to the internet. I'm not satisfied with this purchase at all.

      Hi George,

If there are no signal interferences on the location where you plugged in the RE7000 Extender, then the extender shouldn't behave this way. Allow us to have one of our Escalation Engineers look closely into your network setup to boost the coverage of your Wi-Fi network. The setup directions did not match what we experienced during setup. In the end, we were unable to get the extender to work. In addition, I had to reset all of our devices to work on our regular wifi after I attempted to set up the extender. We returned this product in the end.

Out of the box, Linksys MaxStream RE7000-AC1900 is an attractive and unobtrusive product that blends into the wall outlet. Once plugged in and setup you will probably forget about it. The instructions are brief, simple and easy to follow. Setup with WPS takes just 1-2 minutes, and setup via a computer or tablet takes 2-3 minutes. After 48 hours of use, it was very slightly warm. Lynksys has designed it with many vent holes to prevent heat buildup. I live in a condominium building with 80 aparments. At any point in time our wireless devices pick-up 40 - 50 wireless signals. Our router is located at one end of the apartment. our desktop is at the opposite end. In that room our wireless network was weaker than several other neighbors signals. We setup the Linksys RE-7000 in that room. WiFi Analyzer showed a substantial boost in signal strength which now dwarfed our neighbors signals. My son has a large two story house. He has had trouble with his wifi signal on his second floor and he has a wireless video doorbell on his gate which is located 50-70 feet from his house. He tried two competing brands of wifi extenders which did improve his upstairs signal but could not connect to the video doorbell. I brought the Linksys re-7000 to his house, quickly set it up and the video doorbell not only worked, but the video quality was excellent. I would highly recommend this product.

It is a good product when it works correctly. Set up was really easy but for some reason in the middle of the night it disconnected. I then spent hours trying to get it figured out. However, I want to mention that I am not an expert in this type of thing. I did get it figured out and it works like a dream. Does exactly what it says it will and the instructions were very detailed on the initial setup. I definitely recommend this item. Everyone that lives in my household has told me that the item is great. I gave it a 4 instead 5 just because it disconnected itself in the middle of the night and I had to work on getting it reconnected again.

This product worked pretty well until it would no longer power up. At first it took a really long time to power up and then it just would not power up at all after being unplugged. Unfortunately my return window with Best Buy had just expired. Now I have to buy another but it will not be a Linksys.

The RE7000 is very easy to install and one unit pumps WiFi to all the corners of my 2000 sq. ft. house. It operates on 2.4 and 5.0 GHz and has an Ethernet port that can be connected either to your router (i.e. as a wired range extender) or to a wired peripheral network device. The RE7000 is WPS-enabled and connected to my router effortlessly. This process needs to be done twice if your router is providing 2.4 and 5.0 GHz signals. The unit also provides feedback on whether it needs to be placed closer to the router. The RE7000 can be managed via a web browser and provides diagnostic, system, and network client information.

The device is really easy to configure with its built in web based interface. I actually used my IPhone to set it up first. I then accessed it with my PC after to modify settings. I did not use the WPS connector. I manually added the wireless keys. It recognized and added them as SSID-ext from the console it gave me the option to remove the -ext and merge with my existing SSID when it recognized compatibility with my Linksys router, allowing smooth transition of devices from room to room. It also has a GB port on it allowing you to plug in a desktop or other device that is not wireless enabled. I used inSSIDer to monitor my wireless signals and it greatly enhanced my 2.4 and 5ghz signals by between 10 and 30 dBm at the same time. It also has added features in the console including detailed logging and signal strength tools so you can determine the best location to install it. It retains its settings and restarts in about a minute. With the front display light you can easily confirm it is online and ready.

Initially, I tried to setup this range extender by using my tablet and cell phone. Both devices are running Android KitKat 4.4.2 & 4.4., respectively. I had tried for a few hours with different setting, browsers, and connection methods and ultimately I could not get either device to work. When I used my laptop, setup took less time that it took me to enter my WPA2 password. This method was flawless, fast, and very customizable. I had also reset the device, and tried the WPS button, which again was extremely fast. I have been using this device for the last week as the main access point for all of my wireless devices and using the CrossBand feature to send my 2.4 GHz device data on the 5 GHz band. When I check the WLAN Statistics tab, I consistently see the backhaul wireless speeds maxed out, at least as high as my router can go. The RE7000 has allows me to more centrally locate this device, backhaul it to my main wireless router, and remove two more range limited devices without losing speed or drop-offs in my home. In the last 2 weeks since I have been testing this device, which was sent to me as a free testing device, the only negative reaction I had is the lack of my Android devices being able to setup the device, which could a simple firmware update could fix. The only feature that I did not test with this device is the “Wired Range Extender (Access Point). I would recommend this device to and one who needs lots of coverage and has moderate to heavy wireless usage with the devices that connect to it.

      Hi Joji,

The range extender might be too far from the router to extend your existing Wi-Fi. You might try to use the spot finder feature on the extender's web-based setup page to ensure your range extender ins in the right spot.
