This item did not work at all. Anywhere I got my router WiFi, I got this signal. If i didn’t have my router WiFi, this didn’t work. No matter where I put it. Had issues getting a back to Best Buy, they won’t exchange it. They’ve lost a customer.

      Hi, Brittany,

The Linksys RE7000 WiFi Extender should be able to expand the WiFi coverage up to 2,500 sq. ft. eliminating dead zones. You can try to update the firmware and relocate the extender. For further assistance, you can reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com and share more details with the link to this review for our reference.

Packaging said it was good for up to 10,000 square feet. My house is a little over 6,000 squats ft on 4 levels. So I thought it would work. Complete waste of time. I ended up returning it and getting the Google WiFi system (got the 3 pack plus a 4th one) and created a mesh network.

It took me longer to read the direction than it was to setup the device. I have a Linksys AC router. I just press the WPS button on my router and then on the Max-stream and everything was setup! I when into the device's configuration to check, everything was good. I had to add the new SID to the my devices, but that was quick. When I got this, I thought it was going to be slow because it takes the packets and then forwards it. The older repeaters were know to be slower than directly connecting the router itself. I haven't notice a slow down at all. I use it outside of my bedroom which did have a good single, but not great. Now it is showing full bars without any know slow down and faster on some parts. It also solved a problem with my router needed to restart once a week. Before put this device on, my router would slow down A LOT after a week or so of use. I guest it was overloaded with 3 kids and wife streaming videos all the time. Plus my TVs also run off of the router. With the MaxStream, I guess it handles some of the streaming now and it no longer have that issue or it was slow down by the weak signal because the router slowed down to the slowest signal. At this point, there is NO CON. It exceeded my expectations.

      Hi Andy,

One of the factors that can cut the Wi-Fi signal is the location where you plugged in the RE7000 Extender. As a recommendation, take advantage of your extender's Spot Finder Technology feature to guide you where to properly relocate the device for a stable connectivity and optimal performance. Should you need a hand, we have our Escalation Engineers ready to serve you at LinksysCares@linksys.com. Just indicate your contact details and the link to this post for easy reference.

Very disappointed in this device. The MAX-STREAM™ AC1900 Dual Band Repeater with MU-MIMO did not boost my Wi-Fi range effectively even it was recommended for the router that I am using. I will be taking it back to Best Buy for a full refund.

Set up the range extender in my basement where the wifi signal is good but not quite as strong since the router is upstairs. Following the quick start guide and using WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) I had it configured as a Wireless Range Extender and running in a matter of minutes. I was also able to log in to the admin page easily to check out the settings. Since I also have a Linksys Max-Stream Wireless router that supports seamless roaming I configured the devices up for that. Doing an informal test I opened the range extenders wireless clients table to see the devices connected and I only saw my tablet. I then went upstairs and grabbed my phone which had already been connected to the router and took it downstairs. After refreshing the wireless client table page a few times my phone popped up so it seems to have automatically switched over to the range extender. I then took my table upstairs expecting it to drop from the range connector but it did not. It stayed connected but with a much weaker signal. It was on the 5GHz channel though and the phone was on 2.4GHz so there might be different thresholds for signal quality before it roams to the other device.

Opened the box and was surprised to find only the extender itself and two small booklets, nothing else is needed! I followed the simple directions, connecting the extender close to the router to set up and then moved it closer to the other end of the house. The directions say to place it halfway and that worked perfectly. I now have full bars from one end of my house to the other and full-speed network access everywhere. I didn’t use it a lot at that end of the house, but my daughters are happy that they have no drops in connection. I am impressed by the easy setup, reliable connection and simplicity of the whole process. I look forward to having a reliable connection from my entire house. By accessing the web interface, I was also able to access all the extra settings on the extender, it includes several nice little tools such as a site survey tool and a “Spot Finder” to help you set it in just the right place. Not much else to say, it does exactly what it is supposed to do and is completely transparent. Fills in the weak spots in our house with full power. If you need to extend your Linksys router’s signal, this device can’t be much easier to use.

      Hi, Jjsdoc,

This is a very unusual behavior for the range extender. Can you tell us what is the status of the LED on the device whenever it loses connection? This can give us insight about what's happening with the device. Just send us your reply at LinksysCares@linksys.com. Don't forget to include the link to this post for our reference.

I received the Linksys MAX-STREAM™ AC1900 wireless range extender in exchange for my honest review. In short, the device is easy to setup and provides seamless extended coverage of my wireless network. Icing on the cake is that it is not an eyesore: it is basically a plug-n-play unit that is extremely compact and tucked away in an area of the house away from view while providing coverage for what were previously dead zones. My router is an older unit (2 years old, 2.4 GHz) rented from my service provider (Verizon FiOS), and I used the quick install process (instructions provided) to quickly and easily connect the unit. Took about 5 minutes from start to finish, and now I enjoy full coverage for the entirety of my 1800+ square foot, split level (4 levels) house and in the areas of the backyard and front yard in which I tested the unit's coverage. Best parts of the product include the ease of setup, reliable extended coverage, and compact, no-nonsense design. I have not found anything to criticize after two weeks of usage. This is a great buy for home networks in houses with multiple levels.
