Ok, so when giving a 5 star review, this product has to be FLAWLESS. Now, I'm not saying this product doesn't work, because it most definitely does. However, starting it up was a little more of a pain than I expected. First off, I am using this extender to extend my range in an old house, using a netgear router. This product says it can be used with ANY router (does not have to be linksys) so, at least for netgear, this is true. When setting this product up, the directions were pretty easy to follow. You start with the extender close to your router than you move it half way, connect and extend....well, i first moved it up to the room literally right above where my router is...NOTHING...then i moved it to the kitchen on the same floor...nothing, room next to it, nothing...then finally back into the room into a different socket..finally! ok so i once again head upstairs to a room close to the stairs, where i really wanted it to be and boom, it connected and STAYED connected. Where i would have 2 bars on wifi, i now have 3 due to the extender. Also my game system in my room is A LOT faster when streaming because i am connected to the extender rather than the router. So the effectivity of the signal extender is great, it really does work...Again, the reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because with the initial set up, you have to have some patience...if at first it does not connect, try doing the process all over again...sometimes it may "flick" on then off again, but just let it sit for a minute or two until you get that connection --- oh any another note, when using your phone you will have to continually select the extender when needed, otherwise it'll automatically connect to your router and not the extender.

      Hi, ScoPi,

Thank you for sharing your experience and rating this review. You have chosen the best spot for the range extender and were glad to know that it has improved the network performance. The other locations you have tried might not be feasible for the device to stabilize its connection to the network. We also understand why you have given this product with a four-star rating. If you need our assistance in the future, we can be reached via email at LinksysCares@linksys.com.

I was given this range extender free to review it. This range extender is a breeze to set up. Push the button on your router while having the range extender next to it, then push the button on the range extender. Repeat for 5GHz. Then unplug the range extender and move it to somewhere where your signal drops out in your house. You can use the spotfinder by typing in the ip address of your range extender and clicking spot finder. It will tell you if your range extender is too far away, too close or just right. Pretty cool little tool that I wish linksys would make an actual app for. It's seems to be hard to find unless you're looking for it. I don't live in a huge house but this things seems to do the trick and works well with my linksys router. I would recommend this for people with a good internet/router setup who have some dead zones in your home.

The range extender was extremely easy to set up and did double my wireless range. The instructions stated that I should place it halfway between where I wanted to extend to and my wireless router but I found that I had to move it much closer to get the setup wizard to approve its ability to extend. So unfortunately I was unable to test the extender's ability to connect to devices using a network cable. I do not know if the materials in my house are the problem or if I just have a bad router (Router came with my wireless subscription#. It didn't help that there were not a lot of electrical outlets to choose from. After connecting several devices #SmartTV, gaming console, tablet and PC) to the extender's broadcast I did notice that my connection speeds were better and I did not drop my connection. Downloads on my gaming console took a lot less time but playing online was still a challenge as I would get warnings about lost or slow connection. I am able to walk around my house using my tablets to do online work so I am able to meet my basic needs using the extender. The online wizard was extremely user friendly and I was able to set everything up using my tablet while moving around the house. Even moving the device several times during the setup to find the prime extender location was simple and did not require me to start over each time. I just reconnected my tablet to the broadcast and refreshed the browser screen and I was on the next step. All in all this product is easy to use and does help with extending your wireless into areas where your connection is lower than needed.

Seamless Roaming works with Max-Stream Devices

I tested this unit along with a Linksys EA9500 Max Stream Router and a Linksys EA7500 Max Stream Router acting like a wireless repeater. All have the same 2.4ghz and 5ghz network SSID names. The seamless roaming feature works well between the three devices in a large multi story house with a signal killing centrally located three fireplace wide brick wall that is the main problem with wireless in the house. The range on this RE7000 is slightly less than the EA7500 router when being used as a similar device, a wireless repeater, but it does not have any external antenna. I have a device plugged into the ethernet port on this unit, and it works well. No complaints, I like not having different SSIDs for the extender parts of the network. I do not have any MU-Mimo devices to test the increased throughput from these max stream products yet.

Excellent Extender for Wireless AC Support

The setup on this was extremely straight forward and quick. The User Interface which is quickly accessible through the device having it's own IP address was very straight forward and super easy to navigate. The device gives you two options of setup, One as a Wired Extender (it has a gigabit Ethernet Port on it) and a Wireless Extender. I set it up as a Wireless Extender but am using it with an Ethernet connection as the PC that it has been setup for does not have WiFi capability. The setup under both was very quick and getting it connected to the Router for extension manually through the UI setup was straight and simple. I didn't use the WPS setup though as sometimes doing so can overwrite your Security Key if you have already set that up in place. If you are needing an extender this would be perfect for you.

    An Excellent Wi-Fi Extender

This Linksys AC1900+ Wi-Fi Range Extender is exactly what a bigger home needs, or anyone looking to utilize Wi-Fi outside their normal activities. The extender isn't too big, and takes just a single plug socket in your wall up. The setup is fairly straightforward. I would recommend doing non-WPS based setup, just for better customizable areas and easier access to settings, but both setups were easy and took under five minutes (I tested both just to make sure no hiccups would be involved). The extension will about be 1.5-2x the previous network strength, depending upon where the router is placed, and where the extender is placed. For me, this now gives me Wi-Fi out in my yard where it was previously fairly spotty. Overall another good, solid product from Linksys, doing the job it's supposed to do.

      Hi,

To improve the speed, there are various factors we can look into. One of which is that this extender supports Cross-Band Technology wherein the bandwidth will not be cut into half; just make sure it is set to Auto. Please reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link to this post and your contact information so our Escalation Engineers can discuss this further with you.

      Hi Jcolasuonno,

The Linksys RE7000 should be able to extend the range of your Wi-Fi up to 2,500 square feet. Make sure that the range extender gets enough signal from your main router for it to work properly.

We can have our 2nd Level Support team help you with this. Please send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the relevant details, you contact info, and the link to this review for our reference.

    Great product

I received this product from linksys for free to try out and give a unbiased opinion. Now that is cleared up I must say this was very easy to set up. It took less than five minutes and it was up and running. The instructions are very easy to follow. The range extender worked even better than I expected. I don't have a linksys router ( netgear nighthawk ) and thought that it might not be compatible but I was very wrong. The extender works great. This product is feature rich with seamless roaming ( my favorite) , mu-mimo w/ quad stream, spot finder which helps you pick the best place to plug in the extender. My sons room always had trouble getting a good signal most times he had 2 bars on his laptop and his phone usually disconnected from wi-fi frequently. Not any more !! With this product you can go anywhere up to about 1000 feet away from your router and still have a connection. Like I said I love the seamless roaming. It uses the same ssid and password from your router and switches automatically to the best signal without you even knowing. You do have to set this up in the range extender setup which is very easy. The only thing that took me a minute to figure out is that there is no spot finder app. You need to connect to the extender menu from a phone or tablet and pick it from the left side. Then just walk around your house with the phone and you will be able to see where the best spot to plug it in is. I would have definitely bought this product if I didn't get this review unit. Buy it now you won't be sorry.

Great, But Better Combined With A New Router

Setting up the range extender was very quick and easier than I thought it would have been. I have an older Linksys router, so rather than try to pair the range extender with the WPS button, I set it up using the web browser method (both methods are detailed in the setup guide in the box). Our router is downstairs in the living room, so it makes sense that upstairs in the bedrooms our wireless connection is weaker and slower. After setting up the extended network (our router is too old to support the new "seamless roaming" feature of this range extender), there was a night-and-day difference with our 2.4-Ghz network. Our connection on that network would slow down to a crawl upstairs, but with the new extended 2.4 network, it is over 10x faster than before. This is where having a new router would be helpful. Without the "seamless roaming", we now have four networks: our original two (2.4 and 5-Ghz) and now the extended versions. The extended 5-Ghz network is actually a little slower than before, but not by much. I'm noticing a roughly 10% decrease in speed. Your mileage may vary based on your home/condo/apartment building materials and the number of neighbors you have with their own wireless networks. OVERALL: If just for the extreme difference with our 2.4-Ghz network alone, this range extender is worth buying. I plan on getting a new router soon, so hopefully my 5-Ghz network will show an improvement as well.
