The distance between the router and range extender depends on a lot of factors including the wireless capability of the router, network environment, and interference. |Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Linksys MaxStream RE7000 has been reliable and improved my network strength for our family's internet needs. Packaging is nothing spectacular but it doesn't really matter to me as long as it is secure. The extender was secure in the box and the box also contained a quick install guide and some basic info/documentation. The extender was so simple to setup. Plugged it in, waited for the link indicator light to indicate that it's ready to pair with my router. I held down the WPS button on my router for 3 secs. After that, I did the same on the RE7000. Took around 30 seconds or less, the RE7000 light goes solid, indicating it is good to go. I was now halfway done. The 2.4GHz channel was connected to my router. To connect the 5GHz channel, I repeated the steps exactly, after another 30 seconds or so, I got the steady link light which now indicates that the 5GHz signal is connected to my router. I was having issues with getting a good WiFi connection in my garage. I spend allot of my free time in there working on cars and I wanted to stream music, video w/o lag. My garage is literally as far as you can get from my router without leaving my house. . Now I have excellent reception and am able to use my devices with no problems. Linksys offers a "spot finder" app for your phone and/or tablet. The app will actually help you find the best location to place the RE7000. The RE7000 offers other next generation features that I haven't even tried yet. Things such as CrossBand technology, beamforming, etc.. I would highly recommend this product if you are experiencing lag, slow speeds or dead zones in your home. I am very satisfied with how this device has performed and helped future proof my network with the Mu-MiMo technology. If you are not familiar with Mu-MiMo device technology, you should read up on it.

There are factors that possibly caused the challenge as the setup is normally fast and easy. You just need to connect your handheld device to the setup SSID and connect the extender to your existing Wi-Fi network, then you should be good to go as long as there's a stable connection from the router. Great range extender but software needs updating
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this in my sister's house to get her coverage in her attic office. It was a breeze to install in under 15 minutes unfortunately many of its features are so new that none of my sister's devices can utilize it. Linksys does sell another device to upgrade your device to utilize it's cutting edge technology but not really needed as my sister is very, very happy with improved coverage range and stability. I am sure if she gets new devices they will have the updated protocols built in and she will get even more functionality from this extender at that future time. But in any regard currently the range extender has improved her connections to rock solid though out the attic and eliminated all her dead zones. She says her speeds to all her wireless devices have increased as well. The software is good but needs to be improved a bit more I think the current software is for prior models as this device is relatively brand new and I am sure the software will be fined tuned for this device soon.

The Linksys RE7000 offers offers dual wireless bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz for combined speeds of up to 1.9 Gbps--double the performance of single band, and it supports up to 2500 sq ft coverage. Thus, speed and connection may vary on its physical environment and Wi-Fi interference may cause a connection concern. You may try relocating the extender in between the area you wished to extend your wireless network and your router. The range extender may have been too far from your Wi-Fi signal. The range extender works best if placed between where you want to extend the network, and where your main router is to maximize its range.

I recently installed a new router and while I could reach every corner of our house with strong signal, I saw the signal drop when I went into the garage. I added the RE7000-AC1900 extender and now I have wi-fi in the garage as well as our driveway and backyard. I received this product through the Best Buy Tech Insider program in exchange for my honest and unbiased review of the product.

Our Linksys RE7000 is designed to extend the wireless connection of your router up to 2,500 square feet, in a perfect environment. However, wireless interference and physical obstructions may cause a connection concern. Thus, we suggest you place the extender in between the area you wish to extend the Wi-Fi and your router within the line of sight. You may try to power cycle the extender and move it near the router and see if it makes any difference.
