This is a serious stuff!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a two story house, and my WIFI/router is upstairs, so downstairs, where my family room is located, the internet access was intermittent, the signal dropped from time to time. When I have got this extender, it was amazing, my whole household can surf the Internet, stream HD movies, play online games, and more simultaneously--without annoying buffering or lag...

Better Wifi extender than prior models, But...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really don't like WiFi extenders, I would rather run some cat 6 to a new location and place a WAP there, Most people won't do that and probably don't need to for the smart phones and basic laptop surfing. *This is not a gaming worthy device in my opinion. its range will depend on getting it close enough to your 1st WiFi router, then locate this as high as possible to gain the most range. results will vary drastically depending on the environment. All in All its better than most I've tested for home use at this point to wirelessly extend your WiFi home network. It will not be as fast as wifi to your 1st router, but it will work.

Posted .Hi TechUser,
Thank you for taking the time in sharing this review. The Linksys RE7000 has an option to be set up as a wired range extender (Access Point mode). If you want a high speed data transfer and uninterrupted streaming/gaming then this is possible using the Cross Band feature. The best range extender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has to be the best range extender I've ever seen. It simultaneously broadcasts 2.4ghz and 5ghz. If you have a compatible Linksys router it will just extend your existing wifi network with the same name and password so as you walk around the house your phone won't need to switch networks. It was also really easy to set up and it looks great. I would recommend this extender and a compatible Linksys router to get the most out of each.

Great job of extending the range of our Wi-Fi!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this RE7000-AC1900 range extender at my church (where I am the IT guy) to help with wi-fi coverage in the basement. Our current Netgear router does good job on the first floor, but has trouble getting much coverage downstairs. I plugged the extender into an outlet inside the electrical/HVAC room, essentially directly below the room where the router is. It picked up the signal just fine, and then created a new SSID with "_ext" at the end. It did pull the same password from the router for this new SSID. The box advertised "Seamless Routing" (i.e. same SSID's) with "supported routers". The instructions gave a URL to go to find a list of those routers, but that URL just redirected to the Linksys support page. I tried calling the included "early user" helpline that came on a slip of paper in the box, but that just routed to the standard Linksys call center. Since the manual didn't explain how to set up Seamless Routing, I poked around on the web page for the extender. In the section where you could pick speed and security settings, it also showed the SSID name. There was a checkbox above this section titled "Make the same as my router". Once selected and saved, the extender rebooted, and then I was only seeing one SSID instead of the original one and the EXT one. So, this product works well, and as advertised, but it takes a little effort to find the right setting! Highly recommended for situations where you need more Wi-Fi coverage, and especially when you may have a bunch of users and you don't want to make them switch networks as they roam.

Best Range Extender Yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup could not have been simpler. I plugged it in and using WPS I was connected to my router in moments. The wireless speeds realized were far superior to my previous extender. I of course expected nothing less. I then upgraded my router to the new Linksys EA9500 with expectations that my home would have exceptional coverage. Again I was not disappointed. Again I used WPS to setup. I must admit this time I found myself confused as the extended didn't show up as a separate wifi connection. I inititially thought something was wrong. I then realized it was the Seamless Roaming feature in action. When used in combination with my router this feature is supported which makes both devices function and appear as a single network. One can then move throughout your home while automatically connecting to the device which provides the best connection. Wow! That can't be beat. Highly recommended product.

Simple setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a persistent wifi dead zone in my basement because my router is on the first floor and I have a large steel beam in the basement ceiling that blocks good wifi reception. I hoped that a wifi extender would help remedy the problem. The Linksys MaxStream completely took care of it. After reading through the short manual, I went ahead and plugged it into the wall. I used the WPS button on my router and on the MaxStream and within 20 seconds, it had found my wifi and was set up as my extender. Then all I needed to do was move it to the best location to cover the problem spots in my basement. It literally worked the first time, no problems whatsoever. In my basement, I used to get between -70dBm to -80 dBm. Very poor signal strength. Streaming was basically impossible. Keeping a laptop connected was sketchy at best. But after I plugged this little guy in to a socket that was more centrally located for my basement, my signal strength went through the roof. I now have from -40dBm to around -44dBm. Streaming is not a problem, and my connection is solid. It shows up in my wireless network list as <my home network>_ext. Can't mistake it. Uses the same wifi key as my router so I don't have to store any more passkeys than I already have. All in all, worked flawlessly right out of the box with minimal interaction. Nice to set up a new piece of technology for a change that doesn't require me to spend hours trying to get the thing to work.

So easy to install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I glanced over the instructions and the hardest thing to do was wait a few minutes between each step. I plugged in the unit, waited for the light to glow a steady green, hit the wps switch on the unit, then the router. Waited and then did it in reverse for the 5g stream. Done in a few minutes. The unit also has one nic on the bottom so you can plug in a network cable and hook up a wired unit.

Easy and effective Wi-Fi range extender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Initially set this up to extend the range of a wireless "n" network with a non-Linksys wireless access point/router. Setup was easy, and the effective range was extended nicely - I was hoping to get a good signal out in my detached garage, and that was achieved easily. The "rangefinder" feature built into the device made finding an optimal location for the RE7000 very easy. The only real bother is that the range extender basically sets up another Wi-Fi SSID that you have to connect to in order to use the extended range. So in my case, inside the house I would have to set my Wi-Fi device to connect to SSID, then out in the garage I would have to change the connection to SSID_EXT in order to access the network. A little bit clunky but far better than having no connection. Then, I got a Linksys EA9500 Max-Stream router and access point. After setting that up, and re-configuring the RE7000 to work with it, life is simple again. Turns out that the Max-Stream devices are made to work together, and the EA9500 and RE7000 can use the same SSID and seamlessly transfer the connection between the two devices with no intervention required. Now THAT is how it should work! Plus the EA9500 has "n" and "ac" networks and the EA7000 extends them both. Overall, the RE7000 is a good range extender that is made great when used with a Linksys Max-Stream router.

Easy setup (sorta)little gain from what I can tell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am using this product with my EA7500 Linksys router, so I should have complete compatibility with all options. With that said, it took me 4 tries to get this set up, using the reset button to start from scratch each time, to finally get the "roaming" mode to work. The website that is included with the product that explains the roaming feature, redirects to the Linksys homepage instead of explaining how it works, but I'm assuming they will get that fixed quickly. Using the WPS button on the router, it was very easy to set up. Nothing really to type in, except afterwards to check the settings. Since I am in "roaming" mode, the network name is the same regardless of if you are connected to the main router or the extender, so when you want to change settings on the extender you have to type in a weird address which includes the MAC address. This is easy, but not intuitive. If you do not have a Linksys router that supports the roaming feature, the extender will create a new wifi network name that you have to connect your devices to. The name will be "networkname_ext". While this will work with stationary devices, such as a computer or streaming device, it is not useful for a mobile device such as a phone. I have a rambler style house, with the main router on the main level, and I put the extender downstairs, essentially directly underneath the router. The light is orange, and the spot finder portion of the setup says that it is too far away to get good speed. This defeats the purpose to a point, as I was going to use this to ensure coverage in the whole house, as downstairs I usually loose a "bar" of wifi signal. I do have better signal now, but speed isn't quite as good. I like that you gain an ethernet port, so that you can connect a network device that does not have wifi (cable box, alarm system etc). In summary, the setup is very easy, but took a few tries for the roaming feature to "catch". I'm hesitant to say it extends the range by too much, but more time will tell with that, but for now it is not that far away from the router, and it is giving me the "orange light".

Posted .Hi, Alex,
Thanks for sharing your insights. The challenge you've encountered to finally get the "roaming" mode to work is not what we expected. How far was the extender from your router when you set it up? What's the distance between your router and extender at the moment? To achieve an excellent result, it is recommended that your range extender is getting at least 50% of your router’s Wi-Fi signal and is located midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi. You can also try to log in to the Spot Finder page and determine your signal and move the range extender according to the Spot Finder results. We can also try modifying the channels of your main wireless router to achieve a maximum wireless coverage. We suggest to try channels 1, 6, 9 and 11 for the 2.4 GHz band, and channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 for the 5 GHz frequency.
By the way, we'll take note of your observation pertaining to the roaming feature which redirects to the Linksys homepage, and we'll share it with our Development Team for investigation.

Easy Setup/Seamless Coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Linksys Wireless Range Extender RE7000 I received this free sample product from Linksys in return for my honest feedback. Setup was a breeze using the Quick Start Guide included in the box, and took less than 10 minutes total. Using the WPS (Wi-fi Protected Set-up) button, the unit quickly paired itself with the Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream router. Finding the sweet-spot for the location of the RE7000 was also a breeze by using my Smartphone and the Linksys Spot-Finder technology. I simply typed in http://extender.linksys.com in an open browser window where a signal strength scale appeared to help guide me to the best location for the range extender. One of the features that I like the most about the RE7000 is the Seamless Roaming feature which automatically switches between the router and the range extender as I move about the house or outside into the shop areas. This gives me the best source for my wireless signal no matter where I am at on the property, which means no manual switching to the extended network. The RE7000 range extender is compatible with any wi-fi router; however, my understanding is that the Seamless Roaming feature only works with Linksys Max-Stream routers. Without a range extender, my home has some dead spots toward the back of the house with virtually no signal to the shop and garage areas, but with this range extender I no longer have dead zones in my home and can go from the front of my home to the garage and shop area with no loss in coverage…seamlessly.

CONNECTIVITY ISSUES
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had trouble with this Wi-Fi range extender connecting successfully with my Wi-Fi router. First, I plugged the unit into a wall with an electrical outlet within 6 feet of my router and followed the setup guidelines. My computer which runs Windows 7 operating system recognized the extender (Linksys Extender Setup-FF1) and afterwards connected to a network. However, on the initial onset when I tried surfing the Internet I was unable to obtain a connection despite the system stating I had a connection. My IP address came up within the browser to input setup information. After inputting the set up information such as: o Passwords o Selecting to use the extender as a wireless range instead of a secured one. o System recognition of my network SSID. o Searching for and unable to connect to a network with a message displaying to repeat steps over. However after inputting my network password, I was unable to obtain a connection in order to surf the web again. Moreover, I repeated the steps and moved my router within even closer proximity after several attempts, I obtained the same results. The manufacturer states on the box that the Max-Stream AC 1900+ Wi-Fi Range Extender works with “ALL” Wi-Fi Routers; however, after making several attempts and trying out multiple electrical outlets within my home, I was unable to obtain a successful Internet connection with this product.

Easy Setup, Seemless
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setting this up was incredibly easy. I used the WPS setup and it worked flawlessly. When I moved it to the other side of the house, it worked right away with no issues. It's great if you have a dead zone in your house or a very long one to get your signal to the other side. It took 3 minutes at most and it was up and running.

Works well, easy to set up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys Max-Stream AC1900 wireless extender worked perfectly for my needs. I have a good router, but due to where it needs to be located I was having difficulty connecting to my network in my bedroom. The product comes packaged well so that getting damaged during shipping is very unlikely. After unpacking set-up with your existing network is a breeze. I personally use the online (browser) set up as I own other Linksys systems and I know how easy the online set-up can be. Once set-up is complete most devices should recognize your new network immediately. It should have a name similar to the network already set up. I was able to connect to the network quickly in the rooms my wi-fi had not previously reached. The speed was not quite as good as my regular router (It seemed to be about 2/3rds speed or so) but as this was much better than having NO coverage in that room I'm perfectly happy with it. This is a product designed to fulfill a very particular need. If your need is coverage in an area of your home you previously had not been able to reach, then this is the product you need. It does it's job well.

Does what it's supposed to.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted this range extender so I could have a good wifi signal in my backyard. I have a big backyard that I would like spend more time in. I do a lot of work on a desktop computer inside my house because I need a good internet connection to be able to look stuff up for that work. What I wanted to be able to do was to take a laptop outside into my beautiful backyard and do some of that work out there. Before I got this range extender I couldn't work outside because I didn't have a good wifi connection out there especially where I like to sit, which is on the very back edge of the yard (80-100ft from the house). I've tried other extenders and just couldn't get a good reliable connection back there, so I wanted this one(RE-7000). It's a little more pricey than any other extender I've ever seen-costs more than most routers, but I had high hopes that this would get me a good signal all the way back there and it has. I like Linksys and Cisco products- they are the networking industry standard and they always work like they're supposed to, so it's worth the extra money to me. I'm very happy with this product.

Amazingly easy to install range extender.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit, a Linksys RE7000-AC1900 Wall Plug In Range Extender with MU-MIMO was something our household has been waiting for, for quite a while. We have multiple routers in our three level brick home. These help with our coverage when inside the residence, but once we are outside in our detached garage, the wifi signal is sparce at best. A refurbished pc had to reside in the corner, closest to the house with spotty reception. I rely on youtube videos to assist in repairing cars, boats, lawn mowers, or what ever might be not working. A buffering video is really frustrating. This unit was so simple to install. I paired with a Linksys EA7500-AC1900 Router w/ Next Gen AC (MU-MIMO). This pairing was so easy, I really assumed it was not going to work. To my amazement, I plugged it in to the said closest corner of the garage and let it link. WOW!!!! I now have excellent signal at any point of my garage, even it's basement. As a bonus, it provides more then adequate signal for the farthest point of our property. This is a must if you have any dead-spots in your home/business wireless network.

Good Product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup was extremely easy. I just plugged it into the outlet and used my tablet to connect to the device wirelessly. It walked me through the setup to connect to the main router then it helped me find the optimal location for it. With it connected to my network my devices do operate more smoothly. However since I received this device and started using it every so often my devices pause abruptly. Sometimes I have to restart the tablet, smartphone, or whatever. Sometimes simply restart the app. Overall still a good product.
