We live full time in a motor home and do volunteer work. The project we are at right now has WiFi in a house near the RV parking area. They had the equivalent of a jet pack that did not have a signal strong enough to reach our RV. We added this booster and now we can do our computer work on their WiFi. So we are very pleased. We do not stream, so I can not speak to that.

After having a low WiFi signal for the ring door bell I purchased the WiFi extender to help increase the signal. After much reviews online this was probably best for my linksys router. It was easy to setup as well.

I needed a wifi extender in my 2nd floor house. This is the perfect addition to Linksys router. The extender works as intended. Signal is automatic switched to the extender without even knowing and getting good signal all over the entire house.

This products definitely helps to broaden my wifi. My only complaint is if someone accidentally places an item near the unit, then you lose the connection. Wish we had a more elevated plug because it's hard to tell my toddler not to put toys by the plug.

Easy setup if you use the manual settings. I used it for my Xbox one because the wifi would not respond. I was able to hard wire and now able to play again. It beats buying a new xbox!

    Best option for range extender

First of all, I don't have too much experience with range extenders, so I'll just be describing this one in particular. As far as the setup goes, it was very simple and quick. I pressed the WPS button and my router, then on the RE7000, and about a minute later they were connected on the 2.4 GHz band. You simply repeat the procedure to connect it to the 5 GHz band. Of course there's also the option to connect it using a browser, which is also very simple and straightforward. In regards to performance, having the RE7000 within short range of the router yielded excellent speeds for both bands - the upload and download speeds were identical to that of my router. The range of the extender's broadcasting was also impressive, and should have no problem filling a large room or most of a floor of an average home. Having the RE7000 further from the router, at about 25% of the router's signal strength, and through multiple walls, the 2.4 GHz performance fell to about half of the full bandwidth, while the 5 GHz speeds were much lower - sometimes as little as 5% of the router's full bandwidth, up to about 20%, which is probably to be expected on the 5 GHz band. However, if the extender is just one floor below or above the router, with not many obstacles, there probably won't be as much of a performance decrease. The only other issue, which is to be expected, is that at longer range from the router, the extender sometimes had issues maintaining a connection. With it having at least 25-30% signal from the router, it didn't seem to have many connection issue though. I like the ability to use it as an access point via the built-in Gigabit ethernet port, which would eliminate the router strength factor. The port can, of course, also be used to wire a device, such as a desktop, to your network if it doesn't have wireless capability. Overall, I was pleased with the performance and reliability, and it complemented my AC1900 router well. This is likely the best range extender available right now, especially for those that have an AC router and need more range in a certain area of the home.

Not giving this 5 stars because the signal is not always strong. Although it may be an ATT thing... Signal loss is no longer a constant problem. So easy to use, just plug it in.

Would not work as a wired network extender for me

It works well and was very easy to set-up as a wireless network extender. However, I initially bought this to wirelessly extend using an existing wired connection, but could not get it to work properly -- even after multiple tech calls and figuring out several details that are clearly explained in the instructions. After much effort. I could get it to work, but then it would drop the connection unexpectedly. I finally gave up and decided to simply use it as a wireless extender and it's fine and reliable -- but not nearly as fast as it would be if it worked properly extending a wired connection from the base unit. Perhaps a firmware update will resolve the issue (or already has and I'm unaware).

Solved my WiFi dead zone problem so far. Hasn’t buffered yet when streaming. Only drawback is now I have 4 WiFi networks in my house. Next time, I’ll probably go with a mesh system.

Once we finally got the extender working, it’s been great. The initial setup took a little while for us to figure out but that’s mainly the other reason for the 4 star was set up.

I don't know if it's my house or what but it doesn't reach the range from the living room to my bedroom sometimes it extends it but it keeps going out it goes in then it goes out and it goes and then it goes out so I don't know overall it would have been a good idea but this is not for me.

      Hi,

It is possible that wireless interference is what is causing the intermittent connection on your network. With a few adjustments, we should be able to achieve the performance that you are expecting from the range extender.
