I guess Xfinity just wants to force you to buy their junk.

Aside from having an updated firmware, it is also recommended to position the RE7000 Extender at least 50% from your router's Wi-Fi signal to ensure stable connectivity. You may take advantage of your extender's Spot Finder Technology feature to guide you where to properly relocate the device for optimal performance.
