      Hi,

There are several factors that could cause a limited range such as physical obstructions, wireless interference, or a poor placement. You may try moving the extender around to get an optimum placement and make sure that it is running on the latest firmware.

If nothing helps, we’ll have our Escalation Engineers lend you a hand. Just reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact information and a link to this review as a reference when you reach out.

its okay it goes out every now and then also dont be fooled and think this is for fixing your crap wifi. This only extends the signal you already have. now it does work if your internet needs to be extened upstairs and your router is downstairs, but its just like having the same quality internet. This works with At&t wifi also.

      Hi, Alexis,

We appreciate your review of the Linksys RE7000 WiFi Extender. Relocating the extender might help with the connection issue but, make sure that the firmware is up to date to optimize the device. It worked but not for my needs. Couldn’t connect my ring camera and your Wi-Fi name couldn’t be the same. My devices actually kept dropping service from all the bouncing. Would be a good fit and work well for a dedicated full room extension. Just wasn’t what I needed.

      Hi, Smith,

We understand how you're feeling towards this experience. Let’s make sure that the Internet connection from the router is stable and the Linksys RE7000 is configured properly. We can also try to reboot the main router along with the range extender, and make sure it's running on the latest firmware version. I wanted to use this extender to increase the 5ghz AC range in my house (am using a Linksys AC1900 router), however, I have to place it too close to the router in order to get decent reception. I found that I can locate it farther away with just connecting at 2.4ghz, but that doesn't meet my needs as well. Also, I noticed that the speed is decreased when connecting through the extender, even when it is close enough to be in the 5ghz sweet spot.

      Hi, Twiv,

It doesn't right that you need to position your RE7000 Range Extender too close to your router to get decent reception for 5 GHz band. Please try the Spot Finder Technology feature to guide you where to relocate your extender for an optimal range. If it doesn't help, email us your contact details and the link to this review at LinksysCares@linksys.com. We'll have one of our Escalation Engineers contact you and get this sorted out.

I really don’t know it doesn’t actually work properly it lags performance but my internet isn’t the greatest anyway so I can’t truly give it a five star when I don’t know the issues are from the modem or the extender but it does connect outside home and around my home also but it’s not at full capacity

It works but I thought it work be a larger range. It has to be pretty close to the hub and that really reduces the range.

Easy Set up, Solid Performance - Limited Range

First, I have to say that in the past I've used WIFI repeaters to various amounts of success, each has been as finicky as the last to set up and as tenuous at holding on to their signal as 2-year old with a helium balloon. To say that this device was a complete departure from that would be a drastic understatement. The setup was not only extremely easy but also quick and painless. The only issue I ran into during setup is that there appears to be a hang in the UI whenever a setting is changed, causing it to sit there saying "Processing" for longer than it should, requiring you to go and hit refresh or re-type the IP of the device. This is only a minor gripe though as it doesn't cause any impact to the actual performance of the device. In terms of capability, it was a pleasant surprise to see that it supports both repeater and access point mode. In addition to that, when run in repeater mode it also can act as a wireless bridge, allowing you to connect a wired device to your wireless network. The wired port is gigabit, so there is no loss of speed either to this device as an access point, or to a wired device when bridging. This really does cover all of the bases. I think my biggest issue with this, aside from the minor firmware snafu, is the limited range. I currently have it set up as an access point directly next to another access point (different channels) and it is the clear loser in terms of signal strength. From anywhere in my house when comparing the signal strength of this device to the other, it hits about 75% of the other's strength. I feel the failure to include external antennas is severely limiting its range, although I do understand that with beamforming technology and the fact it has both 5GHz and 2.4GHz capabilities this device likely has many more than 2 internal antennas. And of course having more than 2 external antennas on such a small device would definitely detract from its appearance. Overall I think the device is excellent, the setup is a breeze and the performance is very good. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to someone needing to add a bit of capability to their network, or even another access point should they need to. Bottom Line: Pros: +Very Easy and fast setup +Repeater (with bridging) mode OR Access point mode +Gigabit Ethernet port Cons: -Firmware needs some work on the interface -Signal strength could be better
