Life saver
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been one of my best purchases of 2020. Now that I am working from home, I needed to make sure there were no dead spots in the house. This has accomplished all my needs! Highly recommended.

OK, but not perfect as I thought it would be
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not as easy to set up as stated. Took several tries, plus resetting. For me it does not automatically connect as quickly as I the regular router without extender. On my iMac (latest model and OS) I have to select the extender each time. Not worth the money for me.

Posted .Hi, Hillbilly,
It could be that the location of the iMac gets a stronger signal from the router that’s why it automatically connects to it. Let’s have our Escalation Engineers discuss this further with you so they can give you recommendations on optimizing the functionality of the extender. Just email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact information and a link to this review as our reference.

Gives a little boost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We live in the country and have 1 internet provider. Our wifi only made it halfway through the house. Purchased this product hoping to get wifi throughout entire house. It does work but signal strength is very low and slow to load. Don't know if it is the product or wifi situation. Just disappointed the strength is not better for the money spent.

Posted .Hi Bestbuygal,
If placed too far from an existing router, the range extender may not expand Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi could be spotty. The Spot Finder feature does a great job of helping users find the best position for optimum performance. Please get in touch with us at LinksysCares@linksys.com so our Escalation Engineers can go through the necessary steps with you. Include your contact details and the link to this review.

Good repeater/extender/AP unit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys MaxStream RE7000-AC1900 turned out to be a good repeater, doing everything it was designed to do. I had some issues when I first set it up, but they turned out to be related to a router with a weaker wi-fi signal. Trying with a higher performing router fixed my issues. The repeater is simple to setup, you plug it in, and after it boots up, you can use the WPS button to connect to a 2.4 signal, and hit it again to connect to a 5.0 signal too. The setup worked fine on both frequencies. I had devices connect to both frequencies from the repeater. As a repeater, the device worked fine. I placed it as far from the router as I could. It received both 2.4 and 5.0 signals and rebroadcast a stronger signal with no problems. The throughput on the device was fine. You get less since the device has to communicate to your phone, for instance, and the router at the same time. The default SSID the unit sets up your router SSID with “_ext” at the end. All my wireless devices found and connected to the unit without a problem. Next I tried it as an Access Point (AP). I connected the Ethernet port on the device to my network by ethernet cable. I also accessed the device directly by IP address. The unit has some nice features built in. You can change the SSIDs, IP address, what radios are on, and it has a signal gauge telling you if you are too far or close to the router for best use among other options. As an AP it was a straight forward setup. The signal was strong and wireless throughput was like being connected directly to my router. I changed the device to a static IP and then made it a repeater again. With the static IP and access to the device setup I was able to plug in the device all over my house and test locations using the built in signal gauge. Overall it worked better with the static IP setup. Without accessing the device through its webpage, the light on the outside of the unit just shows green for solid connection and orange with a weak signal. Once it would go to orange, I would have problems obtain IP address and low throughput as expected. The range on the unit was good. I was 2 floors above and at the end of the house and still had a medium connection according the signal gauge. I also tried the unit as an extender. Using the Ethernet port to connect a laptop, the repeater was plugged into the wall, and I was able to connect to the internet with no problems. Other setup issues to consider are the way you setup your router antennas and whether the repeater is horizontal or vertical. My router’s antennas are setup vertically and at 45 degree angles. I had no problems with horizontal or vertical placement of the repeater. The weaker router I tested with had vertical antennas setup and the unit did better in vertical positions. Extending you network can be done multiple ways, Ethernet, Internet over powerline, and repeaters. For difficult places, repeaters have the benefit of not needed any preexisting wiring. But, as a repeater, you lose half your throughput, but it is a more flexible option. The RE7000-AC1900 worked as a repeater, AP, and extender with no issues. The built in webpage makes making changes easy. When I used the device with a Netgear R8500 I had no issues, and the unit could be used further away. When used with a Linksys EA9500 I had connection issues and the unit had to be closer to the router to work properly. If you have to go wireless, the RE700-AC1900 is a good product. I believe the MU-MIMO connection worked between the repeater and routers, but I have no MU-MIMO devices to fully test this capability.

Definitely worth the money!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very small but effective. It helps me keep all of my smart devices connected to the network and it was very easy to set up. Out of the box I was up and running in a few minutes.

Value for money
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good product and got it at a great deal on Black Friday. It creates a separate part of home internet which needs to be connected manually. Not a seamless auto-transition as advertised.
