If you wish to follow the wireless settings of your router, then that's possible with this range extender. Just simply access the unit's web-based page and check the checkbox beside the Make same as router settings.

The price at Best Buy was quite a bit higher than the price I found on the internet and Best Buy would not match the price.

For me it does not automatically connect as quickly as I the regular router without extender. On my iMac (latest model and OS) I have to select the extender each time. Not worth the money for me.

It could be that the location of the iMac gets a stronger signal from the router that’s why it automatically connects to it. This one is plugged next to our smart tv. No more buffering...faster download. Fyi...we live in a small country town at high elevation.

It creates a separate part of home internet which needs to be connected manually. Not a seamless auto-transition as advertised.
