Upgrade to THIS router! Here's why!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do you get kicked off your wifi a lot? Do you constantly blame your provider's service for being slow? Do you still have that decade old wifi router? If you answered yes to these questions, you're in the same boat I was! I didn't know anything about the newer technology. I started raising a family and fell behind on it all. Now that all three of my kids play minecraft and we have 30+ devices that are wifi capable, it was time to sort all of our connection problems out. So, I'm here to tell you... just buy THIS router. It will solve all of your problems! It has so many crazy features that I never expected as well. Now my kids are blocked from the internet from 10pm-6am on school nights. No more checking in to make sure they aren't being sneaky! I also set my phone as well as my husband's, and our main TV as priority devices so that even if we did hit the max (which we never have), those devices would not be the ones booted off. This router allows you to put devices on different bands so that you can separate the basic function devices from the high need ones like gaming consoles. We keep it in the furthest place from where we actually utilize it most and it is still powerful enough to cover a 4bd home! I'm in love with this thing because I never have to reset our router again. No one is frustrated about trying to use it. AND, I'm getting my money's worth in speed from my modem now. I'm a very picky person that will not settle for anything less that what I need or expect and this has far exceeded both. It is extremely reliable and I would certainly recommend it and I have already done so to two personal friends. Two thumbs up, Linksys!

No so good, used for a year and sold on eBAY

Very slow at handling network traffic and assigning IP addresses on DHCP. Does not support open VPN

Frequency 2.4 is ok but 5Ghz is keep disconnecting and i have restart my router every time. Net net net it is not worth for $$$.

I’m in no way a technical person but I didn’t like that I have to go in and disable the guest log in. My internet is slow already and then to have someone else using it, ugh!

5 GHz works fine. 2.4 GHz cuts out.

The 2,4 GHz band runs no faster than my N router. I have 100 Mbps service. Because of apparent defect, ignore rating and recommendation.

If it's only the 2.4 GHz radio band is cutting out, then your EA8300 router's channel needs to be tweaked as there might be signal interference in your area. I took it out of the system to trouble shoot and my speeds are super fast again. Put it back in and slowed it right back down again.

This is a very odd behavior for the router. It is possible that the firmware currently installed is not up to date. We recommend that you update the firmware, then reset and configure the router again.

Can't get it to work

Disappointing WIFI Capability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Linksys Max-Stream™ AC2200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router has a lot of good features, but the WIFI capability, for which I mainly purchased this router, has proven to be disappointing. My ISP provides about 60 Mbits/sec into the router (per multiple tests with Speedtest, etc.) but the WIFI output speed is about 15 to 20 (max), no matter how close the computer is to the Router. I contacted Linksys support and made all their suggested adjustments, to no avail -- WIFI speed stays at the lowest rate, on any 2.4 GHz band.

Decent router

Drops wifi

Do not buy, it is outdated

There are factors that possibly caused the challenge as the setup process is made fast and easy using the Smart Setup Wizard. As for the dropping signal, changing the channels to less congested ones as well as keeping the router running on the latest firmware might help. Limited Range

To boost the range of your Wi-Fi network, we can try tweaking the channels for both frequency bands to what will work best with your existing network environment. Try channels 1, 6, 9 and 11 for the 2.4 GHz band, and channels 36, 40, 44, and 48 for the 5 GHz. I should have bought the better one.
