I figured my slow wifi speeds were just what I got with the loss in speed going from wifi to wireless. But this dongle doubled the speeds I consistently get. I pay for 200mbps and usually get 60-80 using this dongle. Before I was getting ~15.

This model is designed for the Windows 7 and later OS versions. With that, the adapter's compatibility with your computer could've caused the challenge. If you have no plans to update the computer's OS, then you might be interested in this model instead: http://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-AE6000/
