I tried a wifi range extend with some small improvement. The best answer was the AC wifi adaptor which allowed me to connect to the 5Ghz.

Removed the installation CD and Windows 10 installed the drivers. Works as advertised.

The only problem I have is losing signal once I'm not actively on the internet for awhile. It's easy to reset, however. Otherwise it's a lifesaver!

To isolate this, make sure that the latest driver is installed and try changing the wireless channel of the router to reduce the interference.
