      Hi, tbot7,

This is clearly not the behavior that we expected from your WUSB6100M Wireless Adapter as it uses Beamforming technology for a reliable connection, even beyond 25 ft. I have an older Dell laptop running Windows 10 and the internal wireless adapter was limited to Wireless-N. I recently purchased a new Linksys router and, being a retired IT professional, decided to upgrade the wireless capabilities of my laptop to take advantage of the Wireless-AC abilities. Installation of this adapter was very easy. I inserted the adapter into an open USB 2.0 port and when viewing it in Device Manager found the device drivers were not present in the system. I put in the CD that came with the adapter and installed the drivers from the Windows 10\x64 (64 bit) folder. Once installed I connected to my router, ran a speed test, and had speeds of 100Mbps down and 10Mbps up (the limitations of my ISP). It doesn't get any easier.

    Excellent Upgrade

This is a review of a sample product provided by Best Buy/Linksys in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I was very impressed by the performance of this device. I have an older Win7 Pro laptop with what was, at the time, a high end a/g/n card. In my bedroom I got connection speeds of 180-420Mbs, with a usual rate of 240Mbs. This adapter gives me a consistent 433Mbs connection every time. My internet connection is 200Mbs, so if I were the only user, 240Mbs would be enough. However, in my house there are 6 users, 2 of whom are frequently using YouTube or streaming TV shows. This is where the connection speed is important. The higher the connection speed the less time is needed to send each packet of data. This means that there is more time for low volume data like email or web browser users to receive their data. This increases the efficiency and utilization of the available bandwidth from my ISP. I would recommend this adapter to anyone who has a Win 7, 8.1, or 10 system that does not have an AC wireless connection. Even if you do not have an AC router, I would consider this since many hotspots do support AC connections now. The biggest drawback to my test results is that I now see that I need to purchase 2 more of these adapters for the other older laptops in my house so that I can improve my overall network performance. It's a good thing they are on sale this weekend.

I bought this one for 25 bucks and was connected fast on windows 7 with no problems. If you have a 100 Mbps network then it's gonna be sufficient. It also has a decent signal range. Bear in mind, it's dual band so you can also connect to 5 GHz.

Linksys WRT3200ACM MU-MIMO Wireless Router Review The WRT3200ACM supports MU-MIMO, A NETWORKING TECHNOLOGY THAT IMPROVES the overall performance of the router, as well as providing dedicated bandwidth to compatible devices. Linksys claims that this means that everyone on the network will be able to stream 4k Video at the same time, as if they were connected to their own dedicated routers. I found this to be not true. The setup and operation of the unit is quite simple, plug and play basically. Online documentation states that Smart Wi-Fi concurrent dual-band 4 x 4 Gigabit router delivers a maximum speed of 600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 2.6 Gbps on the 5 GHz band. MU-MIMO functionality is questionable. Used two streaming devices (1 android based unit, 1 Amazon Fire Stick) to test the overall performance of the router. One was located in the upstairs bedroom next to the room where the WRT3200ACM is located and the signal was weak at first and difficult to setup, requiring several tries, did not have this issue with the WRT1900ACS unit. Second streaming device used is located downstairs in the living room and had the same issue with the weak signal at first. Once connected the signal strength improves and improved over time. Short range speed is awesome for this unit extremely fast response. The list price for this unit is rather high for the average user as well. As it is not a modem/router combo unit, I find the price of the unit to be too high for the average user. The unit design is identical to the WRT1900ACS unit. Power button toggle design is identical to the 1900ACS unit (Pro) USB 3.0 port is useful for attaching external HDDs, NAS devices, etc. (Pro) Signal distance was poor and definitely needs improvement. I expected it to be stronger allowing for less buffering with streaming devices but that was not the case. The WRT1900ACS performed better in this category. (Con) eSata Port available but only 1 (con) The user is limited to the number of devices that ban utilize these ports unless a 3.0 usb hub is used. (Con) Four (4) adjustable antennas (Pro) Overall the unit performed very well. Hardwired pc speed is improved however wireless performance is not as good as it should be. Open VPN setup is quite confusing and needs better documentation. Whether or not the unit can be designated as Server or Client needs improvement. Difficult to figure out. The manual is not adequate in this area. Attempted to utilize the unit set up as a VPN but it never worked properly. (Con) Was able to setup vpn functionality on a hardwired pc, not on the router for streaming and wireless devices. Had to setup the vpn on each device (Con). According to the information available on this unit, setup should be possible for VPN. Openvpn Server gives the response “This page cannot be accessed remotely. Please login locally to access this page.” Even though I was already logged in locally. Still did not work even after repeated successful logins. It took three (3) tries to complete local login successfully after which the OpenVPN setup was able to be accessed. (Con) The unit looks good, though I myself was expecting it not to be identical to the look of the WRT1900ACS which it does. The stronger processor is a plus! Documentation provided (DVD) is rather technical. More time is devoted to explaining wall mounting then how to setup the OpenVPN Server functionality. (Con) Media Prioritization – a useful function for enabling connected device priorities . (Pro) Storage File Systems supported documentation does not match online documentation, one indicated GPT and the other does not. (Con) Overall good quality but needs improvement in wireless signal strength and connectability. I would recommend the unit to those who can afford it. Otherwise I would advise them to find a cheaper dual band router with similar capabilities. The average user is not usually able to afford units in the 200 plus price range.

When I moved my gaming rig downstairs permanently I realized I didn't want to run ethernet cable all through my house to connect to the router & needed a 5Ghz wifi adapter. I knew I'd be going with Linksys (Netgear just plain sucks IMO). I ran to the local BB & found they had only one of this adapter left but had a few different Netgear models. I immediately grabbed this one as I have never had any issues with Linksys hardware. The speeds are great with this adapter. I get the same ping as when I was directly plugged into my router/modem. No issues, problems or complaints thus far.
