This adapter is only compatible with computers specifically running on Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 OS that doesn't support wireless connectivity. If you'll use this with multiple computers, the driver has to installed on each system for it to work. This Linksys Adapter worked fine when it worked but drove me nuts because it kept losing the WiFi connection. The WiFi signal was strong so that wasn't the problem. I tried restarting the computer and using different USB ports - many many times. It would start working again but no telling how long - 1 minute, 5 minutes, 1 hour, maybe only 10 seconds... I even contacted customer support but I lacked the patience to run through their long diagnostic routine when it was obvious to me I had a defective adapter. So I finally bought a no name one online for 1/3 the price and it works great. I haven't lost the connection once.

Thought I'd buy a name brand, surely they will support Linux. Then find out Linksys doesn't support Linux, and have no intention of ever supporting it. So I'm back to shopping for a noname WiFi adapter. Found one, supports all Linux flavors, at half the price.

It's 2019, and none of my computers have a DVD drive. Very frustrating and could not get it to work. I plan to return this item.

Since you don’t have a DVD drive, you also have an option to install the driver using the Setup Software which can be downloaded from our website. After downloading, just run the software and you’d be good to go.
