I got this because Wi-Fi was reaching with limited speed to the bottom story of our place so we put the extender into the middle of the distance and it perfectly fixed the issue, we can play video games online again. Sometimes it disconnects but a simple connection test fixes the issue every time. Simple set up.

I am using this extender with a AC2000 router. I have the router in the basement and the extender on the 2 second floor - meaning there is a floor in between the 2 devices and they interact greatly. I have full bars all around the house that is appro. 3,000Sqf. I love the wi-fi extender.

Since I have a Linksys Max Stream router, I was very interested in testing the Linksys RE9000 Range Extender. It is quite impressive.  I was able to easily connect it to my EA9500 router using the WPS feature.  Side note, if you have your SSID off (as I normally do), then make sure to enable SSID prior to trying to use WPS to connect a new device.  After the connection is established, then you can disable the SSID broadcast again.   Coverage is impressive, as is throughput. I greatly appreciate the 4 Gigabit ethernet ports on the extender.  Some technical info from Linksys: Wi-Fi Technology: -AC3000 Tri-Band with MU-MIMO  Key Features: -MU-MIMO  -Seamless Roaming  -Dedicated Backhaul  -High Power Amplifier  -Gigabit Port  -Multi-Mode  -1-Touch Setup  -Spot Finder Technology Network Standards: -802.11 a  -802.11 b  -802.11 g  -802.11 n  -802.11 ac Wi-Fi Speed: -AC3000 (N400 + AC866 +AC1733)  Wi-Fi Bands: -Tri-Band, 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz + 5 GHz  Wi-Fi Range: -Up to 10,000 Sq Ft  Number of Ethernet Ports: -4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports  With MU-MIMO and beamforming technologies, this little guy keeps all the data streams moving right along. Since this is a tri-band extender, it can maintain a dedicated backhaul connection to your primary router. In theory, this should allow for faster and more stable connections to other devices. In practice, that seems to hold true. Of course, it also includes spot finder and seamless roaming technoloies.   If you so choose, you can also connect it to your router via ethernet cable and use it as an access point.  This is likely how I will mostly use it.  This method ensures there no degradation of signal from the primary router to the extender.    The only complaint is that is a bit bulky. Many extenders these days are designed more for convenience. They simply plug into an outlet with no cords, much like an oversized air freshener. Not so with this extender. It is as big as most routers and has 4 large antenna.  While it may not be as easy to hide, those big antenna allow for very strong connections.  I'm very happy with the speed, strong signal, and versatility of this range extender and highly recommend it.

I have a Linkys Maxstream AC4000 router that I am currently using in my home that is already fast. But I do have about 15 things connected to it. I also recently just moved my Xbox One upstairs as per the wifes request (demand) which was connected through a cable and got amazing speeds with no lag. Now that its upstairs I notice some lag and often choppy gameplay. Now with the Max-Stream AC3000 WiFi Range Extender installed no more issues with lag while playing online or streaming movies. Out the box I love the look of it, it matches my current Linksys router. It looks just like a mini version of the AC4000. Install is a breeze with the quick start guide. I had it set up in about 5-10 minutes maybe less. Since I already have a Linksys Max-Stream router it supports seamless roaming which means my extended network shares the same network name and password, all my connected devices will connect to the main or extended network automatically. Another plus is it also adds 4 more ethernet port to my network that i can use.

I bought two of these to extend my home network across three floors. One of the units I am using as an Access Point since I have a direct line connection. The 2nd unit I am using as a range extender since it is connected via Wi-Fi. I like the options that you can use it both ways.

This range extender is the best I've had and is fast with multiple people using the WiFi at the same time! It offers the option to be be a wired or wireless range extender and has a built-in Ethernet switch with ports so you can expand the network easily. Setup out of the box is very easy, simply tap the WPS button on the extender and then on your router. If that doesn't work there is another way that Linksys provides that also makes it easy to setup. It'll connect automatically and then you can take it further away from the router to where your wireless signal is weak. This extender offers seamless roaming for Max Stream routers (like the EA9500) so you don't need to setup separate Wireless networks for the extended network. I'd definitely recommend this extender to anyone looking for a solid range extender that provides a solid signal in large or multi-story homes. Pros: Easy setup Fast connection Strong signal Four gigabit Ethernet ports Can be wall mounted Cons: None so far - it's been awesome

So far so good. Seems to be a good solution to expand wifi and didn't degrade speed too much. Can also set up as a wired access point.

It works for its stated purpose, but i have to unplug it and plug it back in every couple of days because it drops out, light goes yellow instead of green. Annoying.

      Hi, Woodmeister,

Have you checked if there's a stable connection from the router? Factors such as wireless interference and physical obstructions will also affect the stability of the connection from the extender. Utilizing the spot finder technology during setup as well as running the latest firmware version will help to improve its performance.

Get in touch with us at [email protected] so our Escalation Engineers can help you investigate the cause of the challenge. Include your contact information and a link to this review as a reference.

      Hi, Jeff,

Please try to relocate the extender and make sure that it gets enough connection from the router. It is suggested to place it in between the router and the area you wish to extend your wireless network. Thus, we can also have our Escalation Engineers help you with this by sharing this over email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact info and the link of this review, for our reference.

Bought this extender to use with my Linksky EA9500 router. They work great together and I get no more dead zones in my 2000 ft home. You can access all the features on the mobile app. I have over 20 Wi-fi devices and they are all working great.

This Wi-Fi Extender is garbage. I bought this to replace an extender that was getting old and the speed was slowing down big time. I bought this one since it sounded great and I've been working from home like many, so I need it to have speed and keep a better connection in my office. I have never problems like this with my previous extender. It is constantly dropping the connection, my computer is constantly telling me there is an IP conflict, and Linksys customer service is terrible. They just blame everything else and don't work on the issue. Eventually, I got someone that attempted to help and decided mine is faulty. But in order to replace my faulty one, I must pay for a new one, not sure if they refund me for the faulty one because no one seems to have any idea, and then I get to pay to ship the faulty one back. This was a big waste of money to put any extra money out on Linksys garbage. If I do put more money out, I will be buying a different brand!
