Extender, extended!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys - RE9000 AC3000 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Range Extender - Black finally provides real ethernet connection with the freedom of WiFi! It looks like a WiFi router, but it is, in fact, a range extender, but offers ethernet connectivity anywhere you need it! This is what impressed me the most. Rather than trying to get the best signal from my MESH network, I have been able to connect the Xbox, Smart TV, and Cable directly through ethernet cable and it runs seamlessly! PROS - Linksys quality - Excellent range extension - Adds up to 4 Ethernet connections in the most needed location CONS - Can be a little challenging to set up if you are connecting to existing network - must set up in Bridge mode.

Decent network extender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a decent network extender. I added it onto my Linksys Velop mesh network, which advertises up to 6,000 square feet of coverage. This network extender advertises up to 10,000 square feet of coverage. I found it did extend my network somewhat, although it's hard to compare since I already have great coverage with the existing network. I was looking to use this extend my range outside - and it has done that. I will continue to play with placement to get the maximum range. Overall, it's a good extender, although setup was interesting as there weren't any instructions in the box.

Not Great so far
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When first installed, would only grab the 5ghz band, had to reboot, then grabbed both bands. Over the last week has disconnected from the router a few times, in fact, it is flashing amber now, so I am writing this connected directly to the router. I'm sure I can get a re-connection, but no confidence it will last. The speed is great when it does work and has good over all distance. I can't recommend this extender at this time, however, I might simply have a defective unit.

Nice addition to needed space
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paired this with an AC4000 LinkSys MaxStream router. It sets up easily but lacks a few major features. The biggest thing is that it doesn't allow you to set different SSIDs for the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands even if your primary router has them on different SSIDs. Devices do not switch well back and forth well especially from 2.4Ghz back to 5GHz. It would be much better to be able to split the SSIDs. The extender also doesn't seem to allow the range extender to be configured via the app (like the router does). The extender also doesn't support guest networks...

Posted .Hi, Nismo456,
Your feedback is greatly appreciated. When the RE9000 is set to Range Extender Mode, it allows you to extend two wireless networks at the same time, using one of the 5 GHz radios as a backhaul connection. Also, when it is paired with a router which supports seamless roaming, it should allow your networking devices to switch back and forth automatically.
For queries and assistance, we can be tapped anytime at [email protected]. We have our Escalation Engineers always ready to serve you.

Seriously Awesome
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know it says "Range Extender" in the product name but I've been using this one primarily as just a plain old Wi-Fi router as my apartment is only 795sq feet so I don't need the "Extender" part of the device. That being said, this thing is a beast at providing an extremely steady connection to your devices. Rock solid and easy to get set up describes this best. On a typical day I'll have my desktop computer, my laptop, my iPhone, and my iPad connected to my Wi-Fi network and each device maintains a fast and steady connection. That's a lot better than could be said about my previous router. Buy this. You'll thank me later.

Great add on
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the AC4500 so when I was offered this product for review I had to jump on it. Out of the box it was easy and simple to setup. I chose the web setup vs pressing the WPS button. The only problem I had, and it's not really a problem at all, is that I would have liked to have been able to use the app to set this up. Once it was connected to the network it gave me an optimum or peak performance status bar so that I could move the bridge to a better location. I have a half acre plot of land and I can now walk my property and receive Wi-Fi with great speed.

Simple
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To put it best the RE9000 was simple to setup and begin using. Setup for this extender was as simple as pushing the WPS button on the side of the of the router and extender. Then watch the light on the extender go from blinking to a solid green and I was ready to go. I used this extender this past week at my in laws. In the room that I stay in my WiFi is spotty at best. With the linksys range extender I was able to get rock solid connection that was supper fast and never lost my connection once. This was a simple set up and well worth it.

Eliminates dead spots, multiple users
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Safely extend your WIFI throughout your home and the yard. Linksys E9000 range extender does just that, no WiFi dead spots! I located my main Linksys router near my cable modem. My new range extender 100-feet away at the other end of my home. Now, I get 100% coverage throughout the house, be it 2nd floor bedrooms, basement or garage. Since its near the backyard, it even beams the signal there. Automatically switching so my portable device (phone or tablet) is connected. Sine both router and extender are AC (still a,b, n compatible), I have the fastest possible signal when I need it. My home has over 25 WiFi smart home devices, so a reliable signal is mandatory. I tested this on the AirTV streaming device in the far end of the house, using the RE9000 gigabyte port and RJ-45 cable, and perfect streaming playback. Great addition if you have echoe or google smart home speakers. Easy set up with WPS button or using the browser setup, the unit can become an extender or if used with a cable directly to your router, as an access point. (If you have the option, use the access point for even faster throughput). My old plug-in wall extender is now destined for the electronic recycling bin.

RANGE EXTENDER - EASY SETUP
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This AC3000 Linksys Range Extender is a nice, compact unit; very similar in appearance to the other Linksys router products! It was packaged nicely with limited parts and booklets. The instructions were easy to follow, the Extended came up easily, and when I moved the Extender to the final location (in my bedroom - nearly 60 feet away and through multiple walls), it was fully operational and really helped my bedroom's Smart TV get a better internet signal so I can more easily watch Netflix there.

Great signal strength
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am typically a bit skeptical about wireless AP extenders due to multiple failures in the past. However, the RE9000 has met my expectations as it truly eliminated the buffering issues when streaming to the first floor of our living room Roku as my AP is located on the 2nd floor bedroom. The signal was surprisingly very strong as the setup wizards on our Roku and laptops gets full bars. So far quite happy with this compared to the other WAP extenders we’ve had.

The Best Range Extender on the Market.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Linksys - RE9000 is one of the best Wi-Fi Range Extender I have tested. It is super easy to install and is a great addition to my Linksys Velop System. This gives us complete Wi-Fi coverage with strong signals where we have never had before. The technology is packed into this unit to boost streaming, and overall speeds when in extended area. It boosted my download speed on my phone to almost 100%. of what it was in some of the remote areas of our network.

Really helps out
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had some Smart Home peripherals set up around the house, both inside and out, that were having a tough time staying on the wireless network. We had tried some extenders, but the way our house was constructed still blocked the signal most of the time. This Linksys solved my problem. The peripherals work consistently well and I don't have to annoy the poor helplines people anymore. It's a win all around!

Great Extender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a stucco house that we have some weak spots in the front and rear of home. This extender works great. Finally able to get a strong signal to all areas of the house. I have not tried it as an Access Poing though, only as an extender. It was smaller than I thought it would be when I opened the box, so that was great.

Good Speeds, but Noisy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am reviewing the RE9000 as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Program and, unfortunately, I can't recommend this part. It's very loud. My girlfriend and I compare it to the days of having a dial-up modem. Whenever any device is accessing internet sites (especially streaming sites) the unit makes a high pitch noise. I thought maybe my device was just defective. I contacted Linksys technical support. First, I contacted their support from the e-mail address listed in a few of their comment responses at [email protected]. However, they did not respond. So, I called. And, the phone reps were very friendly and agreed with me that the device was defective. They eventually sent me a new one, but this new one has the exact same problem. Both devices make noise. I've never had this problem with a wi-fi router or access point before. It's a very annoying pitch. I tried plugging the device into other outlets. I tried moving its location. But still the noise remains. Speeds in wireless repeater mode seemed good. Even when working with a router that does not have tri-band features, the repeater gave me speeds at near the same as a direct connection. The device also makes for a good access point. In fact, that's how I would recommend using it. The software is easy to use and did seem to allow for filtering of mac devices. However, the device is slow to boot up and lacks any USB connection. But, again, I am not impressed with the noise this unit makes. I don't think it should be making any. I wanted to give this a good review. I waited a week hoping this replacement would be better, but it isn't. I'm surprised no one else has commented on this.

Posted .Hi, RedScorpion,
The high-pitched noise coming from your RE9000 Extender indicates a hardware issue and it's clearly unacceptable that even the replacement item has the same behavior. Please send us your contact details or your ticket number at [email protected] so we can review your case and endorse it to one of our Escalation Engineers for further investigation. Does the Job
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This extender works well. It's easy to setup using WPS, has onboard ethernet ports, and has a very good range. I paired it with my Asus ac68u (which already has good range) and the Linksys covered my entire home, including areas which were very weak with the Asus network. The major downside to this product is that it only offers the ability to create a mess network with compatible routers (certain Linksys models). This means you'll have the mildly annoying "_Ext" network to contend with and will have to actively decide which network to connect to. Granted, if you already have your router and are looking to extend your network, this will get the job done well and will cost less than any mesh network out there. However, if you're like me with an existing Asus router compatible with AiMesh, it makes more sense to utilize that. Overall, the performance is there for this extender, and if you're specifically looking for this type of product, this one will get the job done very well.

Range range range
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Who said having Wi-Fi across the street in your neighbor's driveway while he fixes your car is a bad thing? If you would like to experience this please pick up this range extender it's amazing I haven't tested its full range but I'm pretty sure I can make it to the end of the cul-de-sac and that's three other houses.

Good range extender for your WiFi
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Linksys never fails when it comes to products regarding WiFis. This is just a range extender btw, so if you think this can work as a router, it won't. It is strictly for extending the range of your WiFi. It does work quite nicely though, so this is a good buy.

Excellent Wi-Fi Extender, easy setup!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Linksys Wi-Fi range extender was very easy to setup and would be great for anyone having issues with Wi-Fi coverage in their home or business. When used together with a Linksys MIMO router, it will extend your high-speed WiFi to cover an additional several thousand square feet. It does work with other routers, but when used with Linksys, the software/app will make setup and control much easier. The dedicated backhaul channel to the router means the WiFi speed to your devices is not degraded. The four included gigabit ports are a nice addition - they allow you to hard-wire devices that normally are too far from your router. And one of the best features is the seamless switching - no more "ext" added to your SSID when switching. This makes moving from one area to the other painless, with no signal loss. So, if you need to expand your Wi-Fi coverage, you cannot go wrong with the Linksys - RE9000 AC3000 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Range Extender.

Finally the extender I needed...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried and own numerous of these types of devices. This is by far the best in the group. It works great with my existing Linksys router and matches the look as well which was a bonus. The range was awesome and I really have no complaints. This has the ports and speed you need if you have a larger house or just want to ensure the speed to a set of computers. I can easily say I am done with my search for a great wifi extender. This does everything any user would need and works with minimal effort. The setup is super easy and very user friendly. If you have a home wifi network and just want to ensure coverage to other areas of your home then this is extender for you hands down. There is none better.
