I have a new addition to my home that has my office over the new two car garage and this location is unfortunately far away from my linksys wireless router. And while I do get a signal on some of the devices, it is not consistent. Enter in this wifi range extender - I placed this device just inside the house away from the addition and then tried my wireless devices and "bingo" there was such a wonderful signal - good enough for flawless netflix or other streaming services. Every device that was having issues before the extender no longer had any issues. I highly recommend this device and I used the wpc button to connect with the linksys wifi router and it functioned near immediately - one try.

    Nice Extender

This extender does the job. I had a little issue connecting it to my lynksis router. I could not get it to connect via the WPS button. I tried several times with no luck. I was able to connect via browser on the first attempt. I generally receive only 1 to 2 wifi bars on my upstairs level. After setting up this device, I get full bars now upstairs. It also has a nice feature to let you know the distance you should position it from your main router. I originally had it too close. If you are needing a boost to your wifi signal in a dead spot in your home, this will do the trick.

Difficult setup via WPS, moderate improvement

I have as my main router a Linksys EA9300 that provides excellent coverage except for the finished basement remote corner rooms. I tried initially to use the WPS connection method but did not work. I then used web interface to establish hookup and get coverage started, very easy using this interface. The coverage was an improvement and several other first floor streaming devices also seemed to be benefiting from the new extender. So far my coverage is good to almost great in basement corner rooms with no buffering anymore.

    Rock Solid Extender!

I have the WRT 3200 ACM this is insanely stable router. There are more than 25 devices connected (wireless/wired) - streaming, networking between each other, serving information non-stop. The network latency is extremely low and adding new devices doesn't change that! Network speed is constant with no drop-outs or black-outs. Jitter is extremely low (2ms constant). Compared to my old Linksys EA6500 this router is enterprise edition! Network speed is high and the network latency on the WRT 3200 is extremely low. I have 300 Mbps internet from Xfinity. Speed is there on both routers, but the WRT provides constant low latency networking with constant maxed out speeds compared to my old router. Gaming up/down stream should be seamless. The router is configured on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Guest network is also broadcasting. The router is extended with Linksys RE9000 range extender. The rage extender is extremely easy to setup. The extender latency is lower than the router, which is insane (2 ms vs 3 ms). Great range, stable, fast speeds and 4 wired port. Really handy to extend to my wired devices! Love it! Hope it works for a while. The extender (configured as wireless extender) delivers wired connection to an office with many wired devices. Connection is rock solid! Setup was easy as 1-2-3! I would say 10/10 with this router. Worth the money.

I had high hopes for the Linksys RE9000. I have been using a Linksys RE7000 AC1900+ range extender to get WiFi out to my detached garage, and it works OK giving me about 20 MBps speed. I was hoping the RE9000 could do better than that since it removes the backhaul traffic from the device connection, theoretically doubling the speed. My WiFi router (Linksys EA9500) supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. The range on the 5 GHz band is shorter than the 2.4 GHz. So the RE7000, which uses the active WiFi band for the backhaul to the router, is able to at least extend the 2.4 GHz network out to the garage. But since the RE9000 uses a separate 5 GHz channel for backhaul, it doesn't work at all in my garage since the 5 GHz channels are out of range. I was able to get it to work well at the opposite end of my house from the router, so it isn't a total loss. But I really wish it had worked in my garage.

      Hi, Jeff,

Since the 5GHz signal is out of range, we recommend that you configure the RE9000 as an access point instead. This will require you to wire the range extender to your main router, hence removing the challenges of the signal range.

If you need further assistance with the range extender, feel free to email us at [email protected] along with your contact details and the link to this post.

We hope to hear from you soon.

This unit was fairly simple to set up although there were a few issues when trying to access the admin interface (the links on the setup pages are incorrect... use the ones in the quick start guide). Once set up, this extender has worked flawlessly, and has done exactly what it's supposed to do. The area of my house that had very weak 5Ghz service is now swimming in it!

    Wi-Fi by the pool Power

The pool being a little away from the house was always a dead spot for my Wi-Fi. Well not any more. I placed the RE9000 range extended in the room closest to the area I wanted better Wi-Fi signal. And after a very easy step by step set up. I was up and running with seamless Wi-Fi (meaning you keep surfing the web with no interruptions when you jump from your main router to this extender). So walking from the pool to inside you never miss a beat. If you have an areas that you wish had better Wi-Fi signal and a power outlet this could work for you.

If you’re looking for a Wifi range extender look no further.. The Linksys RE9000 works great.. I’ve been using this extender for about a week now and have connected about 10 different devices and ran 5 different devices at the same time. I’ve had Neflix on one device (TV), Amazon prime video on another (Notebook), Youtube running on another (Tablet), and cell phones (IP calling) running all at the same time with no issues.

I first want to say I was very shocked from the performance of this extender. I have a paired with the Linksys - Max-Stream™ AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router - Black. And it's only about 20 ft to 25 ft from the router and I'm constantly getting an orange light I tried to WPS setup as well as the browser setup with the same outcome. I was really excited about this unit because it was a perfect match with my router but I had no success maybe I got it Bad unit. If anything changes I will update.

30 minutes from box to working with basic settings. After about a month I customized the setting to be more secure but the basic setting were extreamly easy. I have a 2 story with the main router upstairs and the extender down stairs. I have over 20 items on the wireless network at any given time with no issues. Love it!

So I figure this is going to be an easy setup...yeah like any network device is easy. I have a Linksys EA9500 so it should work if I follow the 6-7 steps in the setup guide. I plug it in, use the WPS setup and it goes solid green. Cool, unplug and take out to the den. I plugged it in, it takes a bit to change to blinking orange. Grrrr, something went wrong. I wait a minute and it goes solid green, again cool. Everything seems to be working as it should. NOPE, my cable internet has slowed to a crawl and even shows no internet intermittently. I check setup and the extender shows it's wired and working. I go out to the tv in the den and seems like no problem. I log into the extender through a browser and again, looks good. But still the internet is struggling to load a page. Okay, it worked great before I installed this thing, lets see if I take it out and put back in my cheap 5 hub bridge. Yup, internet works great again with the dummy bridge not interfering. So chalk this one up to storage in the box. Maybe one day I'll have patience again and attempt another install. Until then, no way. I wouldn't recommend this. I'm not great at networking, but I do have a certificate in network, repair and pc building. I should have been able to get this to work.

      Hi, RandallFlagg,

If your RE9000 Extender is properly synced to your router and is relocated within your Wi-Fi range, then it should boost up your Wi-Fi network with no connectivity issues. Please send us the link to this review at [email protected] along with your contact details. We'll have one of our Escalation Engineers get in touch with you and sort this out.

Go With A Better Wi-Fi Router

Setup on the range extender was easy enough (by way of the WPS button) - and the spot-finder application from Linksys was quite useful in scouting-out a desirable placement for the extender. But in terms of actual operation and the range extension it is designed to supply, I’m wholly unimpressed by the AC3000/RE9000. In my own experience here, this device required a fairly close proximity to my router to prevent connection problems between the two (and I experienced a ton of connection problems) - the proximity issue alone is a limiting factor in the type of range expansion you could even expect. But even with the extender and the router in synch, I was able to identify a stronger signal in some of my dead spots but wasn’t able to measure any improved performance - so while I was able to observe a technical extension of signal strength, I could not identify a useful sphere of extension that pushed the boundaries of my useful wi-fi. For the cost of this range-extender, it might be better to consider just going with a much better router to begin with.

My use case is unique and everyone's will vary but I have a house and two separate garages. I have ethernet between the house and the closest garage but no connection to the other garage. This repeater has helped me get fast internet (~200MBps) to my furthest garage! I now get coverage everywhere on my 0.5+ acre lot.

Unfortunately, this router extender did not mesh with my current Linksys, EA9500. Despite, moving the router around to several spots, I never got the system to discover the extender. I was hoping to use this extender to work in my bedroom which sometimes loses signal over in the morning when I am doing extensive writing. The directions were so simple and easy to follow for the wireless setup, but as aforementioned, I was unable to establish a good connection.

There is a big sticker on the box that it works with all routers. It is fraud. It took me a month with ATT to diagnose that this extender was the problem and not compatible with ATT. I tried to return it to Best Buy but they told me to get bent. It had it for 34 days. I will never return to Best Buy. I own $100 paper weight.
