I purchased this Linksys RE9000 range extender to extend coverage to the back of my house. It was so easy to setup and connect to my Linksys AC5400 router. I just push the WPS button on the router and then the RE9000. It was that simple! I then moved it to a room towards the back of my house that did not have much of a signal from my router. I now have full coverage in the back of my house. So if you have an area that does not have good wireless coverage from your router, I highly recommend this extender.

The Linksys RE9000 range extender is not new technology. What is new is many of best features of today in one compact package. I could list all the technical specs but you can see that in the product specifications and other reviews. Most people could not tell you the difference between MU-MIMO and a muumuu and in the end, it does not matter. What people are concerned about is does it do the job, will they like it and does it make sense for them. With that in mind, here are some key points :
The setup - It does not get any easier. The extender supports WPS ( Wi-Fi Protected Setup.) Simply plug the router in, wait about a minute until the lights flash green press the WPS button on your existing router ( if it has it) and press the WPS on the Linksys RE9000 range extender. It will connect, set up an extension of your existing network with the same password. The whole process took 3 minutes. In the event you do not have WPS on your router, there is a web based browser set up. There is also a Linksys app called Spotfinder that lets your locate the optimal position for the extender.
Core physical features - the foot print of the unit is about 8 inches by 6 inches with four 5 inch antennas . Not big at all. It has 4 WAN ethernet ports so you add any hardwired device to your Wi-Fi network. I thought that was a great feature and 4 is better than most of the mesh network range extenders out there ( this device is not a mesh device per se.) I loved the extra ports because my ISP routers ports are all used.
Performance - I live in an apartment. It is not big but I have issues with network performance due to the construction of the building. The biggest issue is I have security cameras on the outside of building that are wireless and I constantly have problems with latency and connecting. With the ranger extender that all went went away. Additionally, I found I could go hundreds of feet to the other side of my apartment building and still get a decent signal. Interestingly enough, even with the range extender left in the same room as my router; I still noticed better throughput on the far side of my apartment ( there are several apps to test that.)
So is it worth it? In many cases yes. If you have an ISP provided router or have a newer top line router but have dead spots, definitely. If you have your own router that is over a couple of years old and lacks today’s technology - probably not. At that point, you are better off putting the money towards the top of the line Linksys max stream routers . They will give you all the performance and more features. At $170, Linksys RE9000 range extender is not cheap but is priced about where it should be. Overall, I have always liked Linksys products. The first router I ever bought was a Linksys and they just make good products. In terms of features, function and benefits, the Linksys RE9000 range extender is well worth it. Recommend - 5 stars.

The Linksys - RE9000 Wi-Fi Range Extender is good match for my Linksys EA 7500 WiFi Router. It's coverage was perfect for the 2 story 3,500 sq. ft. I have. It passes high speed data, 2Ghz & 5Ghz, at the same speed as the ethernet cable feeding my desktop. My streaming blu-ray player also likes it.
It was relatively easy to install, but when I ran into questions their support team got me going in the middle of the night. I'd recommend this product based their support alone.

My WiFi Rainbird controller is located in the extreme SE corner of house. My computer and router is in NW corner of house. I had only limited areas I could connect my cellphone ap to my Rainbird to turn my sprinklers on and off. The Linksys 9000, located halfway between my router and Rainbird gave the the signal strength I needed. Plus, the 9000 is dual band and Rainbird is only a single. The 9000 handled this problem.

We were having a lot of trouble getting a good signal in one of the bedrooms in our house. I tried all the $50-$75 signal extenders, but none of them worked. I decided to go for the gusto and what I perceived at first when I was over spending, much to my surprise we now get a great signal in our bedroom. Linksys is great company and makes a great product. Best Buy always has a great return policy no guestions asked.

I have an B, G, AC Linksys router upstairs in my cabin where I have 100 mbps internet service. I added this extender to increase the speed downstairs. It worked perfectly and was easy to install. Took less than 10 minutes once out of the box. I went from getting 30 mbps wirelessly to getting just over 100 mbps wirelessly. That is better than I was expecting. I will now be buying one for my home.

I live in a 2-story house and my cable connection is downstairs in the furthest point of the house from the rest of the rooms. I currently own a Linksys router and needed to boost the signal in the weak areas of the house. This Linksys range extender was easily added to my network and didn't require much setup. Works like a charm.
