I got this system set up and, overall, I am pleased with what I have seen. Coverage. Quick. Stable. Out of the box, you get 3 WiFi 6 nodes (and their power adapters) and 1 ethernet cable. Setup is fairly simple. More or less a step-by-step process with their app. The app is clean and mostly easy to navigate. I had to dig through some menus to get to some of the more advanced features, but, as with anything, the more I poked around, the more comfortable I was with it. The whole process took about 15 minutes or so. No issues. Not bad. Follow the app, you should be fine. My space is not super large, but I was able to get absolute and total coverage, even extending to outside my space. That extended range was not something I was really looking for, but it has been a nice bonus to be able to maintain that WiFi connection when outside. While the coverage has been great, so has the stability. So far, everything has been rock solid. I have not been losing any connections. I was having some minor issues with my old setup, but so far, I have not had any of those same issues. My speeds have been great, better than previously, and about what I hoped given my ISP plan. Of course, there are some variations depending on my network load and where I am with respect to node location, but overall, I am happy, and no complaints. Again, it was an improvement over what I was getting prior. If I had one complaint about this system, it has to be the size of the nodes. They are BIG. Somewhat wide, but very tall. I suppose it is needed for the performance but keep this in mind if you are looking at them. It was somewhat challenging to figure out where I wanted (and needed) to place them. The size does give you one benefit (sort of) in that each node has 3 ethernet ports. If you have wired connections throughout your space, you can utilize them with each node, freeing up a band for more devices. Ultimately, I think this is a good mesh WiFi system and it works for me. It has great coverage, is reliable, and delivers fast speeds. There are some nice additional features, and I hope the WiFi 6 (802.11AX) will not only help with the ever-increasing number of connected devices I keep adding to my network, but will give me at least a little future-proofing as well as I also add those devices.

If I could give it zero stars I would. I paid a freaking fortune for this and it worked for seven months and that was it. It lost the connection continuously so I called the support line and they walked me through troubleshooting it. I knew what my password was and used that to set up the new device now their app doesn’t recognize my Linksys system. It says I have zero devices and it asks me to connect my new device but it just keeps kicking me out and asking me to connect my new device again and again and again. I keep getting told that I have the wrong password even though I was very careful putting in the correct password. Two of the nodes only connect some of the time. I lost a lot of Wi-Fi range which was the reason I bought the system. I’m ready to throw it out and buy an eero. I am still working from home and will be at least a few days a week for the next year. I need a Wi-Fi system that’s going to work.

    Throwing in the towel

I have an 1900sq ft 2- story home, middling knowledge about networking, and I've exhausted my patience on this product. This product has been completely unreliable since the begging of March two months after I bought this product. Wireless backhaul because I don't want to drill a bunch of holes in my home for wired. Two adults and baby live in my home and the two adults stream tv together. 3 Logitech circle view cams and an abode security system. I bought the three pack in case my 50+ devices needed the nodes to be closer to them since every WIFI transceiver is different and the HKSR feature. Biggest problem with this product is trying to connect to Internet. For no obvious reason products that wired to the parent node or wireless cannot download form internet from time to time every day. The mesh network it self is incredibly solid if you can properly place your nodes however the spotty internet when it's not my ISPs fault is no longer acceptable. I work from home a lot and to have my workflow interrupted almost everyday that I work from home can no longer be tolerated. The blue lights signifying everything is okay are a complete joke. This product would literally perfect for a home office environment if it wasn't so unreliable. I wanted to like these. Time to go to UNIFI and start drilling some holes.

      Hi,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with the Linksys Velop Wi-Fi 6 System. We can assure you that this is not an expected behavior especially if the nodes are set up properly and are running on the latest firmware. Also, we have to consider the number and the mix of wired/wireless devices as well. Furthermore, our 2nd Level Team wants to understand and know about your network setup. You may email LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link to this review for reference.

My connection took a painstakingly long time to load. So much so that we would drop wifi and to cellular service. Then we would need to reconnect to use the wifi enabled devices. Needed to reboot it every so often to get it working again. Went back to my provider modem and it is working better than this mesh was. My Linksys range was also not what it should have been. Weak signal on the deck when the product was just on the other side of the wall. Disappointing.

    DO NOT BUY

I bought the three pack based on the online reviews of the Velop product, thinking that they were going to be great. Little did I know that all of the reviews I read were for the AC, not the AX. After I got them home and started having problems, I started looking at what everyone was saying on Reddit and Twitter. It was universally negative. I can see why now. The only thing fast about these devices was how quickly I regretted my purchase. I bought them because they supposedly supported HomeKit security and because they were supposed to be fast. Both were a lie. The website even listed them as supported devices. Turned out that they will be supported in an upcoming firmware update that may come some day. Also, I went from getting 350-400 Mbps on my cell phone with my old wifi 5 system to getting around 100 mbps with these sitting in the same room. This is with a wifi 6-compatible iPhone 12. I spent over a week troubleshooting these devices. I have rebooted them about three times a day, and even had to factory reset them during setup because something didn't work with one of the satellite nodes. I've been on the phone with Linksys for over an hour and no luck. DO NOT BUY! I can be in the same room with one of the nodes and I will have one bar. The app stopped working after two days and, after the Linksys tech had me reinstall it, it still didn't work. He just gave up and moved on to a different problem. DO NOT BUY!

      Hi,

The Linksys MX12600 Mesh WiFi 6 System should deliver gigabit WiFi speeds. You can try to use the channel finder on the Linksys app to optimize the nodes and make sure that the firmware is up-to-date. But, we would like to have our Escalation Engineers investigate your Velop system further. You can reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link to this review for our reference.

More affordable Wifi6 Mesh System that works

The Linksys Velop AX4200 WiFi 6 Mesh 3 pack is all most people need for a home WiFi solution since this system should cover up 8100 square feet including around the front and back of a normal residential home. It is called MX12600 because it consists of three MX4200 nodes that can handle up to 4200 Mbps or 4.2 Gbps which is plenty of bandwidth to handle most home internet speeds. Packaging: Well packaged with the large nodes and power adapters included in two separate internal boxes along with an Cat6 cable to connect to the modem. Connections: There are three gigabit ports (4.2 Gb) on each node as well as an internet port to connect to the modem. If you have ethernet run to other parts of your house, you can also use the internet port to connect to other nodes for ethernet backhaul. There is also a USB port on each node that can be used to connect a USB hard drive for external storage that can be accessed from anywhere on your network. Installation and Setup: This was easy using the Velop app wizard but I had to restart my modem multiple times for the Velop system to finally see it. The mobile app works well for monitoring the network and has notifications that can be turned on when a node is down. Speed: The speed of my internet which is 450 Mbps, is handled well by this system all over my house. The three nodes are working together just fine and are covering all areas of my house. The speeds stay consistent and there has been no down time of my network due to any issues with any of the nodes. I am running 50+ devices most of the time without any issues and am told this system can handle 120+ devices. The USB external storage device I connected is working well and I am able to access it from my laptops and mobile phones anywhere I am connected to WiFi. Overall this is a really nice package for the price considering it is able to handle gigabit internet speeds and cover all areas of most houses.

I am giving it two stars because setting up was easy. The issue with the device is that it would go off line for no apparent reason. No drop in internet service. Was with support from Linksys 4 times and not able to solve. Returned it and bought a Asus unit and it has been perfect. Liked the esthetic and the concept. Just could get it to be stable and with working from home, it was imperative.
