This was extremely easy to set up and connect our entire house to the system. The additional range is amazing. We have a detached shop and the node out there has fast connectivity.

Bough this to compliment my existing MX10 system so I didn’t have to run an Ethernet cable across my living room any longer. Setup was extremely fast and works perfectly.

Bought the LINKSYS Velop to replace a five year old router. Easiest setup ever, and the mesh system has really extended my WiFi range. Highly recommended. Couldn’t be happier.

    Buggy, Frustrating Performance

I purchased this mesh wifi kit to replace an aging Netgear Orbi set. I pay for gigabit internet and with the Orbi, I'd routinely see around 400mbps over wifi. Three of my units use ethernet backhaul, so I enjoy the same speed wherever I am in the home. Since I have some new devices with a WiFi-6 connection and I am adding some home automation, I figured it would be a great time to upgrade to the newest Wifi-6 (AX) standard. Hookup for this set was FAR easier than the Orbi. The Orbi units would take 15 minutes or so a piece to set up with a lot of waiting. The Velop nodes were set up and online within 5 minutes each, and adding additional child nodes was a breeze. The first night of ownership, I was seeing wireless speeds between 550-600mbps to each node. Life was good. I was so happy in fact that I purchased two additional older generation nodes and set those up in farther reaches of my home to ensure broad coverage. The next day, WiFi was great again. The next morning, the problems started. I noticed that my network overall was really slow. I chalked it up to my Internet Service Provider and didn't explore further. The next day, I noticed the same behavior. I logged into the Linksys app and noticed that only around half of my normal number of devices were connected. Thinking it odd, I rebooted the modem, master node, ethernet switch (for my backhaul), and each child node. This process allowed all of my devices to reconnect, but that was just the beginning of my woes. All of a sudden, the only node that would provide the 550-600mbps speed was the Master node. The child nodes (ethernet backhauled or not) would only deliver <80mbps. I performed a factory reset, crossed my fingers, and brought the whole system back to new. This only seemed to exacerbate the situation. All of a sudden, instead of 80mbps right next to a child node, I was seeing speeds of less than 20. Frustrated and unsure of what to do next, I called Linksys. I went through three support technicians before they advised I'd need to speak with a Level 2 person. This took the better part of two hours and a questionnaire that must have been the length of my arm. They promised a call back within 30 (thirty) minutes from the Level 2 tech, so I waited. I waited that afternoon. I waited that evening. I waited the next morning, and the next afternoon. Finally, after 36 HOURS of waiting, I called back. I was told that the questionnaire wasn't complete which is why I hadn't received a call back. Considering they control which questions they ask, this was particularly frustrating. I patiently answered another 25 or so questions (most of which I'd previously answered) and was told I'd get a Level 2 call back within 24-48 hours. To Linksys' credit, I did receive that Level 2 call the next afternoon well within their quoted timeframe. The Level 2 technician spent all of five minutes with me and advised that there was nothing more to try, I clearly had a defective node. He suggested that Linksys could mail a replacement. I asked how long it would take to arrive, and he advised "due to COVID" it would take a month. I declined and will be returning this set. I simply cannot recommend this set at this time. I'm on the most up-to-date firmware as of the time of this review (1.0.3.202695) and refuse to wait a MONTH for a replacement of something that I have a sneaking suspicion won't help. I'm guessing this firmware is the culprit since this set was amazing on the first night and only broke down after receiving a new firmware update that evening.

I kinda hate this system. It has very small range per HUGE plastic block. It often has to be reset. I'm not sure it plays well when you connect them via ethernet. The light is WAY too bright and I had to cover it with a guitar pick at night. I bought this to replace an aging AirPort Extreme AC setup and the Apple set up is FAR better. I'm considering going back to the older setup, even though Apple no longer makes routers. This Velop system is overpriced, underpowered, undercooked, and it basically sucks. I paid $600 for this crap?

Stable, robust signal throughout the house. Does not support VPN throughput. This was a deal breaker. System is expensive. Returned the system, added another ASUS router to existent one to form mesh coverage for half the cost.

I needed a better mesh system and everything I read about the Linksys AX4200 was exactly what I needed. I have a wired house so it leaves the third wireless frequency available for wifi clients since I didn't need it for the backhaul. It's fast and setup was very easy. My only complain is that I wish there was better reporting and knowledge insight into my network operation and bandwidth usage. For example, I want to know what devices are using the most bandwidth and I would like to know when new devices join the network by an alert. The Aero system has great reporting but not nearly the performance of the Linksys mesh system.

Linksys has made a large jump from their original Velop mesh system to this one. Better coverage, better client handling, more LAN ports, simply better in every way.

This is an amazing mesh system. The only problem I found was that when IPv6 is active there is a bit of a latency issue when loading websites. Setting IPv6 to passthrough seems to have fixed this.
