Nice coverage for my 2 story home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very impressed with this version vs. the other one that I first tried that was not Wireless AC. One thing I like about this version is not just how much faster my speeds were but also that they plug directly into the wall outlet with no need for any additional cords. The look is aesthetically pleasing and is not very noticeable in the rooms I placed the additional nodes in. One is actually plugged into an outlet in my ceiling in my living room where I also have a wireless camera plugged in to also be able to view my downstairs. Speed shows me connected around 580 Mbps and my Internet Speedtest I ran from my phone is consistently 200 Mbps just about anywhere in my house now. I also get about 60 Mbps in my driveway when I am out front with the kids. My house is 2 story / 3500 square feet and this system provides very good coverage with how I have the nodes positioned around it. I highly recommend this system over the other Linksys Velop system due to the AC speed difference.

Drops and customer service at linksys is horrible-
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is advertised as a triband series but the main unit is triband but the nodes are dual band. It says it covers 5000 square feet. However, the nodes don’t even work when right next to the main unit. I have been on the phone with Linksys for hours without resolution. It’s been over a week- I am still waiting for the engineer to call me. Do not buy Linksys. Look at the reviews on drops before you buy.

Awesome mesh wifi system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is specific to the Linksys Velop Mesh Wi-Fi system which comes with one AC2200 parent node and two AC1300 plug-in nodes. The plug-in nodes are entirely wireless (they DO NOT have any ethernet ports, I’ll discuss this more later) and are designed to simply be plugged in to standard electrical outlets to extend your mesh wifi network. Unlike traditional range extenders, these plug-in nodes do not create a separate extended network which you must manually switch to. This is what makes the new mesh wifi systems so great for those who need extended coverage beyond the reach of a wireless router alone. As previously mentioned, the plug-in nodes do not have any ethernet ports which means no devices can be wired directly to them. It also means they cannot use a wired backhaul to communicate with each other if your home happens to be hardwired with ethernet connections as mine is. I originally didn’t realize this and was surprised when the product arrived since I was hoping to take advantage of my home’s wiring and use it for a dedicated backhaul rather than having the nodes communicate wirelessly. My home is three stories and I was worried that having a node on each floor might be too spaced out for the nodes to properly communicate with each other wirelessly. After setting everything up, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the nodes had no issues being spread out in this manner and I am very satisfied with the results. My home’s setup is also unique based on the fact that my modem and all of the hardwired ethernet cables are located in the closet of the master bedroom which is located on the third floor. I had been using a Linksys EA9400 router since it has enough LAN ports for my home’s hardwired ethernet cables but this certainly is not the most ideal location for my wireless network to originate from. Since I still needed to maintain the internet connection for the hardwired ethernet in my home and the AC2200 parent node only has one available LAN port (the second would obviously be connected directly to the modem), I needed to go with a setup which allowed me to continue using the EA9400. I determined that the best way to handle this was to continue using the EA9400 as my main router but to disable its wireless network and setup the Velop system in bridge mode. In other words, the EA9400 continued handling all of the actual routing and the Velop system simply provided the wireless network. As a result, I placed the AC2200 parent node on my home’s second floor and connected it to my home’s hardwired ethernet port which was connected to the EA9400 router. I went through the setup process and connected each of the plug-in nodes and then put the Velop system in bridge mode. This worked flawlessly and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Overall, this is an incredible mesh wifi system and I highly recommend it!

Mesh WiFi Systems is the way to go
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After going through 2 high-end WiFi routers I've finally decided to give the Mesh Wifi systems a try. The issues I was dealing with was dead zones and just slow speeds throughout the day. I needed something that can handle around 6-8 devices connected at once. It was a mixture of a Smart Tv, Roku box, Galaxy Tablet, 3 video game consoles, and 2 smartphones. Hardly did we have all devices being utilized at once but most of the time 3 of them would be streaming YouTube or Netflix. Distribution of bandwidth started to become an issue. Finding a router that can handle all this task at ease and switching to a less congested channel is what I was looking for since I lived in an apartment complex. After doing my research the Mesh Wifi caught my attention. Instead of just having 1 device doing all of the work it utilizes a router and nodes to distribute the work and improved WiFi coverage. The Velop system comes with the main router and 2 wireless nodes. The set up was pretty easy guided by the Linksys app. The only issue I encountered was having to reset the wireless nodes in order for the app to be able to find them. After that, you set up the SSID and Password to your liking. I tested I noticed right away the quality of the stream improved greatly. My Smart 4k Tv when it came to streaming to Netflix it would either buffer or the stream would top out at 720p. With the Velop system, the stream would start right away at FHD and no issues with Ultra HD media streaming. Same results were noticed with mobile devices and the tablet. So far it's done a good job of bandwidth distribution. Areas that signal was not good before was improved and so has the speed. The app provides a good amount of usage data and customizations options. So far I've been satisfied with the WiFi performance from the Velop system. It has solved my buffering issues, dead zones and slow speeds that I would encounter throughout the day. It also doesn't hurt the unit themselves don't take that much space and blend in much better with the surroundings.

Another new addition to Linksys - Velop System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Contemplating which Velop system to own? As a previous Velop system owner, there are similarities and differences to each system! This particular Velop 3-Pack consists of one tower that has to be plugged into the modem and two plug in nodes. The tower plugged into the modem is the only one that has to be hardwired. Also another difference noted is this system is a Tri-Band Mesh Wi-fi system and the others that I have tried are dual band. There are tiny LED status light on the top of each node, and the base holds two Gigabit LAN ports, a power jack, an On/Off switch and a red reset button. The LED light shines blue when connected, red when it loses its Internet connection, yellow when it is out of range, and purple during setup. Each of the three nodes covers up to 1,600 square feet, which means that the 3-Pack will provide Wi-Fi coverage for homes up to 4,800 square feet. If that is not enough you and you need additional coverage, more nodules are available for purchase and can easily be attached to this system. The setup is super easy, the Velop system is configured and managed using Linksys free iOS or Android app. The app is easy to navigate, and offers helpful tips for changing settings. It opens to a Dashboard screen that displays the name of the network, how many devices are connected, and buttons to turn Guest Access, Parental Controls, and Device Prioritization on or off. So far, I love all Velop systems, especially the guest feature. I just flip the on button on the app and my friends and family can connect to my wifi without me giving them my home password! I would definitely recommend this to friends and family!

Great Signal with Challenging Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is no doubt that Linksys makes great networking products. This product continues that tradition by providing solid signal over a large area. The mesh router supports that most recent networking protocols and provide excellent speeds. If there is one concern, I did have some issues getting the routers to connect to each other. The concept of the setup is easy enough and the application used is good but there can be a few hiccups that need to be addressed. Overall, this is a great system that I would recommend.

I Love The Wall Plugs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new wall plug node style are fantastic. These allow you to expand your network where you may not have had space for the mini tower nodes. All you need is a outlet and 3 minutes to configure. The range on these seem to be as good as the other tri-band nodes and a little more range than the dual band nodes. My only gripe is WHY weren't these available before I reran my modem to the middle of my house and ran the cables to the top of my kitchen cabinets. Buying a few of these would have fixed the problem of having my modem at the far end of my house and nowhere to set up the tower nodes. And these would have saved me a bunch of time in the process. Oh, and the wife would not be mad about the router being so high up and occasionally a blue cable can be seen from a distance. (I swapped that out with white so not as visible.) Overall, these are the ones to buy if you want discrete nodes thru the house. The tower versions are not an eyesore to me, I actually hardly notice them. The wife, not so much so, but she doesn't mind the wall outlets style. The only real difference between the tower and outlet, the tower have 2 cat 5 ports available for anything that needs a physical network cable rather than wifi. The wall outlet style have no networking ports at all. I highly recommend these, absolutely a fantastic offering by Linksys.

great coverage and performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second set of Velop nodes that I have added to my home network. These hooked up to my network in just a minute or two. It was extremely easy to just open the Linksys app, and select "Set up a new product". From there the app pretty much does everything for you, and in no time, you have just enhanced your wifi. The other great thing about some of these Velop mesh units/nodes is that they come with 2 ethernet ports (keep in mind , not all do). They are actually great for turning your WIFI signal into a wired connection, for devices that don't have a WIFI card, but do have an Ethernet port. This was perfect for me to get internet to one of my older XBOX consoles, and a network printer. Both devices were made with only RJ45 connections (ethernet ports). So far I have been more than pleased with my coverage and the performance of my connected devices. I have noticed that a few of my nodes will go into a rest mode, when they are not in use. Their light starts flashing a reddish color. (this is normal). As soon as they detect that a nearby device needs that connection, they perk right back up.

Better than the original!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple Review: If your house is abnormally long or you just find certain areas in your home you cant get Wifi than this system is for you. Extended Review: Once your hooked up and app downloaded you will notice the first thing that makes this unit great. Simple, the app the naming of the Wifi networks and passwords is done in seconds instead of writing down whichever one comes with the unit initially. The next thing your going to love about this router is the fact that its promise of being smart connect is actually true. What I mean by this is when the unit switches you from one band of internet connection to another or even switching between the router modules itself. It does it with zero effort and no hiccups which was a big issue in the previous unit. I recommend this unit for any home or apartment that needs a mesh router. Hope my review helps you decide.

Plug-ins are the way to go!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently own the Velop Tri-band 3 pack and have been using them since they launched. They have been great, although quite finicky during set up. The one real issue I had with the tower nodes was hiding of its cords. Thankfully Linksys has now introduced the plug-in node and it has been fantastic! The 3 node set comes with one Tri-band tower and 2 dual-band plug-ins. Although the plug-in nodes are slower than the tower, they are far easier to use. No cords! They simply plug into the wall outlet and you are good to go. Set up was just as easy as before and yes, they are still a bit finicky. It took me a second time to get them to connect to my existing system. That is one thing Linksys could improve upon. I'm super happy with these new plug-in nodes and wish Linksys could make all there Velop nodes plug-ins. No cords is much more hassle-free.

Easy to setup, rock solid signal!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Linksys Velop kit includes a primary node that delivers 2200 Mbps and two Plug-In nodes that deliver 1300 Mbps each. The primary node looks like a rectangular pillar and on the bottom it has two LAN ports. One goes to your cable modem. Since I have several wired network devices, I had to purchase an 8 port gigabit switch to connect to the other LAN port on the bottom. I liked that I didn't have to guess which port went to which device, they just work! The plug-in nodes are nicely designed to only take up one outlet in a standard outlet duplex. It doesn't block the other outlet whatsoever. Setup is done all through the Linksys app on your mobile phone. I thought it was going to be a frustrating experience where I would end up connecting to the router with my laptop to configure, but I was pleasantly surprised I could do all the configurations I needed through the app. Boot up of each node does take a couple minutes. I was able to change the SSID to my previous SSID and set the password to my previous password and almost immediately 15 devices popped online. Only my Nest thermostats needed a bit of help to get reconnected. I then set up the upstairs plug in node and after waiting for it to boot up, the app pretty much took over to set it up. The basement plug in node didn’t set up immediately, but it set up just fine on the second try. I was surprised at the ease of which I could set up port forwarding and DHCP reservations. This is not something I see many people doing, but it was pretty painless within the app. The app enables me to securely manage settings anywhere in the world. This is nice. After working through the setup, I downloaded a wifi analyzer and walked throughout the house and I was able to get a good signal in all corners of the house. It did drop a little in the garage, but not enough to cause me much concern. Being a mesh network system, my devices can now travel throughout the house without signal dropping and I don't have to worry about re-connecting to an extended range. My previous setup had a bulky router and a range extender and when I got out of range of one, I had to make sure my device switched to the other. In a mesh network system, signal is handed off seamlessly between the nodes. Another nice thing is that I no longer have to worry about which devices connect to the 2.4 ghz channels and which ones connect to the 5 ghz channels. The router and the device negotiate that without me giving it a second thought. While this system is pricey, I am pleased with the ease of setup and the rock solid signal I now get around the house.

Linksys has finally nailed the "Mesh Network"...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried and reviewed 3 different "Velop" systems from Linksys now. They were all excellent. This one is the opus. I've evaluated roughly a dozen or so "Mesh" and "Extender" networks in the last few years, this being the new trend as homes get larger and WiFi requires additional ubiquity and devices in the home grow to outnumber the people residing in them... The Velop Tri-Band (Gen 2) is on a whole new level. Mostly because Linksys realized something about its users... That only the primary node of the network needs to sit on a shelf/at a desk/on a surface at all. The Linksys Velop system has performed perfectly as a replacement for other mesh systems I've tried in the past. Unlike other systems, Linksys still allows for advanced settings, such as IP address range for the internal network, and the ability to set advanced functions, such as port forwarding. Some of it's competitors were more basic, but by no means is the Linksys set up wizard, or the mobile app complicated. The setup process was so simple that end-to-end it took about 8 minutes. That includes unboxing, plugging in the main node, powering them all on, and setting up the network nodes with settings. Its extremely intuitive and easy in the app. Linksys has hit a home run here. Coverage wise the devices work well. Performance is much better on these new Tri-Band devices than on their "Dual-Band counterparts, so they'll use a special "backhaul" bandwidth at 5GHz range to control and connect the mesh. In the end, performance was excellent even at the furthest reaches of my 2500-sqft home, as the Tri-Band version might be a differentiator for higher speed use cases (I have 200x10 basic service with Spectrum) or larger homes nearing the stated "4500 sqft" mark. One of my applied use cases for this system is keeping my 5GHz network strong throughout the house as I'm now streaming in 4K and 1080p to 3 unique televisions and both Google ChromeCast and AppleTV units facilitating the streaming. Gone are the days on my traditional wireless network where the remote apps or the streams themselves would cut out or degrade quality, as they just weren't close enough to the single router to get a signal sufficient for their bandwidth demands... This particular premium mesh network eliminated this issue completely, while other competitive mesh networks improved, but didn't fully resolve the issue. The network also behaves nicely with smart home devices - Other mesh networks gave me problems with my smart doorbell, robot vacuum, and smart thermostat with regard to staying connected. With the Velop systems there appears to be enough of a network abstraction that the devices properly see it as ONE NETWORK and the nodes don't seem to fight over connection to their nearer devices as was the case in other systems. I can't recommend this enough, and if cost is an issue, check out the dual-band counterpart as its 80% of the performance with 100% of the features.

New Design and Solid Wireless Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys - Velop AC Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System is the top of the line wireless mesh system for the home or office. The Velop AC Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System is more powerful than the dual-band version. This means wider coverage areas, coupled with higher bandwidth. The redesigned nodes make placement around the home/office convenient. They fit in any standard outlet. The Linksys Velop offers everything one needs to build a fast, scalable, and reliable network. The Velop is very simple to setup. The Velop mobile application guides you through the deployment of the nodes and helps you place the nodes in optimal range of one another to provide the best wireless experience. Even more impressive, the Velop wireless mesh system is scalable. This means you can start with one to three nodes, but can add more nodes should your wireless needs grow. Outstanding! My wireless coverage area is nearly 4,000 sq-ft, with three floors of active devices using the wireless network. Devices include, TVs, game consoles, tablets, phones, printers, and IoT smart devices. Everything works beautifully. Using the 3 included nodes there is no network contention, wireless devices retain stable connections to the wireless network even while moving around the wireless coverage area, and latency to the internet is typically under 12ms from anywhere within the wireless network coverage area. You can connect the wireless nodes to physical network devices using Ethernet connections and expand your network beyond the wireless realm. This is important to me because I have several devices that I prefer (or are required) to use Ethernet. Network speed (bandwidth) on the Velop system is excellent. I currently have a gigabit internet connection and I can take full advantage of the high speed throughput while on the wireless network. This is true even while I move around my home. As my device (laptop/tablet/phone) seamlessly transition from one node to another, I never experience a clip in connectivity. File transfers between systems are fast, HD video stream without interruption, and I can play HD gaming consoles on the wireless network without increased latency or decreased network performance on the wireless connection. In short, the Velop is great! The Velop management interface is easy to use and offers nice features like guest network enablement, security profiles, and speed test. The Linksys Velop wireless mesh system is powerful and easy to use. It is light years beyond traditional wireless extenders. I highly recommend the Linksys Velop. It will change your wireless experience for the better.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the first version of this system and liked it so much I had to get this new version. I really like the satellites. They are smaller and plug into the walls. You barely notice they are there. We have a 3000 sq ft home and this has really helped to make internet accessible for all our devices in and around our home. We have several tablets, smart tv's, cameras and cell phones and we never have any issues or dead zones. I am super impressed with this system. My cameras outside have no issue finally connecting to our inside network.
