Very wise purchase for a home network
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only problem we've had with this device/system was not a product problem. Rather, it was our phone service supplier failure. We are in a rural area with only one telephone provider and, sadly, our service is very sketchy and unreliable. When the phone lines are working correctly, the Linksys system works 100%!!

WiFi throughout!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently relocated and the WIFI has been less than stellar throughout the house. 3 floors, 4500 sq feet... we run multiple devices constantly as I work from home, we homeschool, & there are several of us. Purchasing this system has enabled us to actually USE our WIFI anywhere in the house. I am very pleased.

FINALLY Full Coverage!!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product: You get 1 tri-band node and 2 smaller plug-in nodes with accessories for connecting. These nodes are good for up to 200 mps. Mesh network means there is no need for extenders that use different usernames and passwords and no weakened signals. This system should work with any modem and ISP that supports an ethernet connection. Set Up: Super easy set up with the Linksys app. You just set up an account and add nodes via Linksys app as you need them. Linksys App: This app will let you know if you have placed the nodes too close together or too far apart for best signal. You can even run a speed test via the app to show you exact speed you are getting out of the system. Placement/Coverage: I have a house that is a nightmare using WiFi. It has a metal roof and is a log home with extremely thick walls with fire-resistant sheet rock in kitchen area. It is also a smart home with thermostat, all lights, etc. and it is VERY tough to get a decent WiFi signal. With this system, I have added extra regular nodes and placed them strategically in nearly every room to get full coverage and FINALLY no lose of signal anywhere, no lag and full bars nearly everywhere for cell phones and no more dead spots, even outside! I also have 5 TVs that are streaming with Roku and it handles it all now without a problem. Convenience: Plug-in nodes make it easy to extend your WiFi. Just plug into any outlet in your hallways, garage, etc. and get rid of those dead zones around your house. No need for a table to place the node! The unit provides some additional functionality that's fairly common in routers but very easy to configure. You can prioritize traffic for certain devices and easily enable a guest network for visitors so you don't need to divulge access to your private network. Voice Control: Velop gives you access to a variety of convenient voice commands. For example, you can verbally turn Guest WiFi on or off by issuing intuitive voice commands to your virtual assistant. What will they think of next. Recommendation: Because of this mesh technology, I was able to overcome what I thought was the impossible with a metal roof, thick walls, etc and now have complete wall -to-wall and beyond coverage. I highly recommend this product above all others. VERY PLEASED with this system to say the least.

Worked surprisingly well
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an IT guy, I'm skeptical of things that "extend" wifi, those cheap repeaters suck. This package was a but pricey, but not much more than other brands. The setup takes a while, not really sure why, but once everything is set up it just works. The entire setup is done through the app, so be prepared. it's also nice that it can be expanded.

Makes wifi possible around the whole house
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually can't adequately review this. I returned the item and decided on an Orbi mesh router. So my review is for mesh routers, in general. I love that it can cover my whole house, and even outside in the backyard, and in my garage. This makes using the phone or laptop outside much easier.

Simple to Install and Use, But Powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You might be intimidated installing a mesh network in your home. If you are using this Linksys Velop system, it is so easy you won’t believe it. I know why it is easy and that is because the firmware and app are written really well and handle the underlying complexities which is what I don’t see all the time. Kudos to Linksys. By the way, Linksys support is wonderful as I have used it in the past and their website is top notch. I didn’t need any support this time to quickly install this three node system using their phone app. Basically you’re told to unhook your old router and then install the main node. A single light changes colors and modes (blinking or solid), to tell you when to hit ‘next’ on your smartphone. I encountered absolutely no hiccups during the installation. My main node is upstairs and I installed a node on the first floor and in the basement. Something I found very nice was that you install one SSID and it doesn’t matter if a device is 5 GHz or 2.4 Ghz, the system figures all that out. When you are done you can use the app for all kinds of info including what devices are connected wireless or even via ethernet directly if you use the extra port on the main unit to connect a PC or whatever, which I did. It will also tell you which of the three nodes a particular device is using. Why is this so easy, the programmers at Linksys did the work for you. I am an engineer/programmer so I can appreciate what they did to make this so simplified. The app also will test the position you put your nodes in and tell you if it is a good spot – also a nice touch. Once your mesh system is in, you will need to reconnect your devices; even if you use the same SSID and password as you had before; and this is normal. I used the same SSID and password anyway so I didn’t have to update any of my own documentation. It was a snap to reconnect all my devices which includes 6 PC’s, a Nest doorbell, a Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener, an Arlo hub, a Philips Hue hub, a Smarthings hub, a Netgear WNCE2001 WiFi adapter and 4 printers. I have a 4 port switch connected to the WiFi adapter for some devices in the basement that don’t have wireless connectivity. I list these in case you have these or similar devices and I can say they all connected back up no problem whatsoever. The good thing about the WiFi adapter is once I gave it the new address I could connect the SmartThings, Arlo and Philips hubs to the new mesh system without any configuration changes to these hubs. The last thing I did was to use speedtest.net to check the download/upload speeds. I do have a 400 Mbps line from Spectrum. Usually my PC’s connected wirelessly with speeds from 20 Mbps to 210 Mbps depending on where in the house the device was and the wireless hardware in a particular device. I tried to get a good comparison by using the same time and day before and after the Linksys Velop system was put in. I also compared speeds using the same servers. It gives a ballpark picture. The news was great. The Velop system doubled the speeds in some cases and was about 10% faster in other cases. One thing I saw was that an Acer laptop that had speeds of about 210 Mbps before, now got 345 MBps during several test runs. I had never seen a wireless device get over 300 MBps in my house so this to me was a sign the mesh network was a big improvement. The Acer laptop does sit only a room away from the main node, but it got almost 50% improvement on an already fast connection. Here’s a few things that I found interesting; The Velop system displays one Wi-Fi name for the entire tri-band network which I prefer since I let the smarts of the system manage this – I can always use the app to see details. However, with the latest firmware version, you can now use the Velop web interface to give the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands different Wi-Fi names – I didn’t try this though. Another fact is Linksys validated you can use up to 6 nodes – mighty big house though. If all your Linksys Velop nodes are the type that have ethernet ports, you can also hardwire the nodes together for example if you have ethernet cables already throughout your house. For the Velop system I have and reviewed, the main node had 2 ethernet ports and the other nodes you just plug into a wall outlet – simpler and a little less cost. Here’s a good link if you want more research: https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=217439#H9 I definitely recommend this system. Don’t worry about complexity, the smarts in this system make it easy. Also you will get much better connectivity in places like a basement (like I have) and into the garage and out on the porch as well. Every type of device I tried worked with the Velop mesh network and worked better. Great system with great technology.

So far so good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything is working as advertised. I have a smaller house but have them spread out and one outside in the garage so I can have a tv in the garage and by hot tub. I like the parental controls as well.

Great Speeds, Great Coverage
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the new design for the Linksys Velop System. While there is still one of the "tower" units, the other two nodes mount directly on the electric wall socket, saving valuable desk space, and helping reduce the clutter of wires. The Velop mesh system is easy to setup, only taking a few minutes per node. I wish they could all be set up at the same time, but that is the biggest complaint I have about these, and that isn't much of a complaint. Once setup, the Velop system is easy to manage via the mobile app from your cell phone. This is especially great, as I can troubleshoot my home network, even when I am away. I am seeing excellent speeds, and no dead-spots in my house or yard, which is about 1/3 acre.
