Not what I was hoping for

I am a senior looking for a simple phone for 5% talk and 95% text. I bought this phone for the additional possibility of using apps and browsing the Internet on the go. One of the reasons for my choice was it did not require a Google account like other Androids do. Here is my experience. I had the Lively Smartphone 3 activated at Best Buy. Right then I felt the keyboard was overly sensitive and resulted in multiple characters at a single stroke. It was also very hard to press the right key in the microscopic keyboard. It is also chock-full of tiny icons without any explanation of their functions and you have to possess the skills of a hieroglyph expert to figure them out. Felt quite unfriendly to this senior. It is also full of many behaviors undocumented in the manual. For example when I got stuck at the very first screen called Android Set Up screen with the cryptic message below it which said "Swipe up to unlock", I had no idea what swiping up was and what was to be unlocked. Finally after lengthy Internet searches I found out that you have to slide your finger from bottom to top to open the home screen. Why don't say things in simple English like Open The Home Screen any more? I also tried to browse the Internet to open my brokerage account and typing the URL was a nightmare because there was no indication how to overwrite a part of the URL without retyping the entire thing. Finally, when I managed to open their website, it looked very different from what I see on my laptop and even the logout link was missing. Anyway, I am very disappointed by the phone and will have to return it and eat the balance of unused data. For me it was a total wastage of time and money. Surprisingly, I see many positive reviews so there must be many 22-year old seniors with eyesight better and fingers more nimble than mine. I cannot fairly comment on the camera or the battery life not having used it long enough.

Easier for my mom to use than her old phone. Still takes a week or so to train an older person.

Initial purchase done with help of nephew in person. Sales person helped but she still needs some internal help. Went back so far once to get some add'l tutoring and that has helped...directed more to setting up new contacts successfully. Admittedly, I need to become more familiar with the phone on my part. Thank you.

This was a gift for my 75 year old partner. It has worked out great for her. Easy to use with more features than the flip phone she was using.

Jitterbug 3 phone sucks. When it works, it's great, but when it doesnt, it sucks. I bought the phone for my mom who is 81 and when there is an update the phone always resets everything and my mom is unable to navigate setting it up again. The update basically factory resets the phone and my mom loses all her contacts, texts, photos, call logs, etc (Good thing I have it auto backing up to Google account otherwise she would have lost all her data) I have had to setup her phone at least 7x already since she first got the phone (about a year she had it) due to stupid jitterbug updates. I dont recommend this phone or the lively service

The phone often has an echo. It also will not link to Android Auto using Bluetooth. The technical support is terrible. While it has a user friendly interface, it is a poor phone with poor support.

    Lively Smart 3 phone

Best Buy is awesome! But not this product...I had the Lively Smart 2 phone and wanted to upgrade to newer version, the Smart 3. But it has one major design flaw...the "Send" button is right next to the last space in a sentence, so if you made a typo there and need to touch that space to backspace, you can't help but touch "send" by accident...ended up returning phone to Best Buy. Lively customer service confirmed many client complaints about this design flaw! In Smart 2, there is a "delete" button before the "send" button so you don't send by mistake!

I am very pleased with my new phone. My help at Best Buy were very helpful and advised me of the features on my new phone that I was not aware of as I am 79 years old. I would refer my friends to use Best Buy for any item that they need that Best Buy carries.

The Phone itself is great. The reason for Four not Five stars is the difficulty in getting it activated and transferring an existing # from an old device.

Phone is very slow. Difficult to use in the sunlight. Not good if you forget the "unlock" pattern. Get a good phone that is quick to respond for an older person.
