Terrible software

The software that ships with the controller won't find it. The latest version, downloaded from Logitech's support site, finds it about half the time. The Logitech support site has a device detector web app which finds the controller when the installed stuff won't. (But a lot of good that does you. At least you know it's connected.) As others have noted, it reads like the XBox 360 controller, and in fact, the software from Microsoft for the XBox 360 controller finds the device much more reliably than the Logitech Profiler. Of course, calibrating it is not possible.
