Customers praise the Harmony 950 Universal Remote's ease of use, compatibility with various devices, and sleek design. However, some users experienced issues with the touchscreen responsiveness, battery life, and charging inconsistencies. A few also mentioned the price point as a potential drawback, and some noted slightly slower response times compared to previous models. Overall, the remote is well-regarded for its functionality but has some areas needing improvement.

Touchscreen is a disasster - Poor battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Programming the remote via the software and a laptop is very easy. Sadly, once removed from that connection, using the remote is another story. It relies too heavily on a small touchscreen that both, has sensitivity issues, and is unreliable. Once you select a function, say "watch TV" the screen becomes the dominant method to change channels. Simply putting the remote down causes the screen to change pages (there are three total pages). At times, it reverts back to the Devices page, at other times, it reverts back to the Favorite Channel page, and at no time does it stay on the Numbers page, which is what I want it to stay on. Furthermore, when attempting to dial in a channel on the screen, most of the times, even though you touch the number, it doesn't register. Instead if you try to do a three channel number, it can easily skip one or two of them, despite your actions of pushing them. If you try to slow down to ensure you touched them all in a way that the remote responds, it could take too long and the remote will change to two of what you picked, even though you want three. What's worse is that the numbers are so close together that its far too easy to hit the wrong number two out of three times. Similar touch sensitivity can happen when selecting a function. Despite the tactile vibration indicating that you have indeed pushed the function, say "Watch BluRay", the remote does not go to that function, and you have to select it again. It's one thing to move critical functions onto a touch screen, but it's another thing to make that touch screen user friendly, stable and large enough for your fingers to select the correct function. Lastly, the battery life is a joke. With nominal use, within two days, it's down to about a quarter charged. At that point, it rapidly goes from 1/4 charged to dead. I am returning this remote. Sadly there aren't many other universal home theater manufacturers out there. I wonder if the Harmony 665 is a better choice with more actual buttons and less heavy relying on an unstable touch screen.

Great universal home remote!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to unify and home audio system run by my Pioneer receiver, and my Samsung 4k smart TV. Had remotes for EVERYTHING, and was hoping this would replace the 4 floaters. Mission accomplished. Although you have to use Logitech software to program the remote from a computer, once set up, it's awesome.

Harder to use than separate remotes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the Harmony 950 to control a TV, a Tivo, a sound bar, and a Blu-ray player. I found it made things more complicated than using separate remotes. The main reason is that the Harmony does not have many buttons, instead relying on the touchscreen to provide virtual buttons for each device. This means that if I want to hit Tivo control keys I have to go to the touch-screen and select the Tivo keys, and then if I want to control the volume I have to back out of that to the global view. If I want to enter the numbers to select a channel I have to go to a different touchscreen to get the numeric keypad. It goes on with other activities. I eventually figured out how to get the Tivo remote to control the TV and Tivo sufficiently and will be returning the Harmony. I seldom watch Blu-ray movies so I'll just get that remote when I need it. The Harmony might be good for someone with lots of low-function remotes that changes devices a lot, but if you have a decent DVR, Cable, or TV remote it will probably give you a better experience than using the Harmony.

does not work as well as Harmony less expensive mo
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.can accidentally change function by touching the screen, very sensitive. should have favorites button to pull up right away. the number screen is not prime screen so you cannot change channels easily. not back lite, for the money it should be. best thing is that it does not have to be in line of sight, but it is such a habit for me that i still aim it towards AV receiver. Note: i start with direct TV with this remote and it offered more choices on remote, but hated DirecTV and switched back to Uverse and lost a lot of extras that were programmed into remote

Returned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cumbersome. Have to push the number screen to hard to change channels, and then go to the wrong number. Swiping turned out to be pain and inconsistent. Thought it would be good because of charging stand and sale $ of 159.00. Returned it anyway. My existing 700 is so much better.
