    Harmony hub works with Alexa

Bought this remote/hub to use with Alexa and it works well. I don't use the remote cause my other harmony remotes are better and have more features such as LCD screen. The hub itself works well and comes with an or blaster so you can have the hub inside a cabinet. The app is outdated and not very customizable. It took a while to set up all the activities so it can work with alexa. Now that everything is setup, it works great. All you need is the hub to make it work with alexa.

This universal remote is fantastic. TV, Receiver, Roku, Apple TV, Playstation and DirecTV are all controllable. What's more is that you create custom setting for pairing. Consequently, with one click, I can turn on my TV, Receiver, and DirecTV boxes while setting the correct HDMI input on the Receiver. This was a 4 step process. Love it.

I really like this set up. It was easy to transfer all my activities over from my 650 remote. Since this remote communicates with the Hub via RF, the dogs walking in front of the entertainment center does not stop the signal. The Hub communicates with my devices via IR directly from the Hub and also has 2 ports to add mini IR blasters (Only 1 blaster comes with this package). I have also added the Harmony skills to Alexa and can control my Logitech Harmony activities from my Amazon Dot. The buttons can be customized as you need. (this remote operates my TiVo, but didn't have a "Live TV" button, so I mapped it to a button that was not being used. The feel of the remote is good too. This package is way cheaper than the Ultimate w/ Hub and is just as good if you don't mind the lack of a screen. I wish the remote had a backlit keypad, but other than that, I am happy.

I have had Logitech Harmony's for a while now and this one is great as well. It is awesome being able to control virtually my entire apartment from my cell phone. I have the Philips hue lights tied into this as well as my home theater. The IR blaster works greater and I have had no issues with the signal hitting my devices.

I like the sleek design of the remote. My goal purchasing it was to allow me to hide my cable box and DVD player in a nearby closet. It was successful in doing that; however, since the hub can't see my tv I still have to use the tv remote to turn tv on and off.

We purchased this to replace our harmony universal remote that was several years only and had been giving us issues more and more lately. There was a rebate return and a sale price. How could we pass that up? We have noticed that you have to use your phone app to access somethings that are NOT on the hand held remote. Also there is an issue when going to the guide. When I access the guide, sometimes, I just want to look and see what is on at the time not change to that particular channel. Instead on just looking and seeing what is on a particular channel while in guide, it changes to that channel instead. We did not pay for the most expensive one and that could be the issues we are having with the remotes vs. app on the smartphone. Overall, it good. If I had read reviews first, I may have learned more. I think though, if I had to do it all over again, I would have paid for the more expensive product.

Having only one remote is so convenient, instead of fumbling around with several different remotes. It took some learning to use, but now very easy to operate. Works perfectly everytime. Only drawback is that I wish it wasn't so expensive.

I bought this to use with Alexa and so far it has been working well. The control itself works well and is easy to use. For Alexa, I only can control the tv to be on and off. I am still learning to try other functions. AR works okay.

It's easy to set up from your phone. It always works and does what it's suppose to do. The family loves it and anyone can use it with little instruction. There's endless possibilities in the menu, so if something isn't working quite right, you likely just have to change a setting in the devices tab of the setup. I see no reason to have to give this any less than four stars ever.

After getting frustrated with a cable box remote that just didn't seem to work very much, I decided to break down and get a Logitech remote as I have heard nothing but good things about them. After doing some research, I decided that the Harmony Home Control remote would be the best option. It comes with one remote, but you can download the Harmony app to your Smart phone or tablet, turning something most of us keep with us at all times into a remote control. Setting it up does take a little time...my particular setup is unique as I have items out in the open and items inside a cabinet. Once you get the placement of the hub and the IR extenders down...then it's time to get your activities set up. That too, took a bit of time to nail down...but once everything works like it should...it's a dream to own. I can be upstairs...pick up my phone and turn on the system and have it tuned in to the morning news before I make my way downstairs. When using the remote that comes with the system, it's perfect because it doesn't use IR technology, so I can be at our dining room table and use the remote to control the cable box and receiver, something that was difficult to do with the remotes we had before as they didn't always seem to work from the dining room. There's only one thing that would make this system perfect, and that is a lighted remote control. Since I use my phone most of the time, I can always see what I'm doing but for my husband who mostly uses the remote that comes with the system, he wishes that the remote was back lit so that he can see what button he is pressing. Otherwise, this is a great product.

I really like the functionality of this. Occasionally the hub needs to be rebooted or responds slowly. That happened more frequently when first installed, seems to be happening less and less. Hopefully software updates fixed the issues.

The rare "easy to set up and use" remote

I purchased this remote to replace a six-year-old Logitech remote that the Geek Squad had originally programmed for us. After reading online details and reviews on CNET.com and BestBuy.com, I decided to purchase this model, thinking that I'd try to set it up myself and if that didn't work, I'd return it, as I am definitely not a technie. But it WAS easy to set up -- it asked all sorts of simple questions and found my equipment very easily. The physical remote itself is small and pretty basic, and like other reviewers have noted, it doesn't have a rechargeable base or an illuminated keypad. But, it was easy to adapt to, and I was easily able to program two additional buttons on the remote to do the additional functions that I reference most often. I haven't used the Apple/Android app as a remote much, but I do like that it has an easy "fix my problem" button that I couldn't find on my physical remote. I am having an unresolved problem of the system not switching to the correct HDMI input when switching from the Blu-Ray to the TV, even though the set-up instructions appear correct -- but that could even be a problem with my new Samsung 4K Smart TV, so I won't deduct any stars from my review of this remote. All in all, I am very satisfied after using the remote for approximately one month.

After considering several remote options for our media room, we selected this product and have not been disappointed. It was easy to set up, easy to use and very affordable. It works on a variety of smartphones and tablets and allows you to control multiple rooms by easily switching profiles. We liked it so much that we bought a 2nd one for our bedroom. Highly recommended!

    Great Universal Remote

The Harmony Remote has really simplified our home theater experience. We previously need multiple remotes because our supposedly universal remote wouldn’t recognize all of our electronics. Our new Harmony Remote easily handles our Insignia tv, Roku, Blue-Ray DVD, cable box, and receiver. It even coordinates the appropriate home theater sound depending on what we’re watching. The fact that our I-Phones are synced with our Harmony Remote so we can use our phones to control our home theater is a bonus we weren’t expecting!

The Harmony Home Control is great but with some odd limitations. Although it controls a number of devices some useful keys, such as the home control keys, are limited to only a handful of specific devices. For example I would have like to assign those keys to always control the lights in the room. However, although the hub can see and control the lights in the room, those keys can only be assigned to certain devices, such as a Lutron bridge, or NEST thermostat, as opposed to able to arbitrarily assigned them to some function of some device.

Good remote if you truly need the home functionality it provides, other wise go with the smart control for less money. It can get out of sync from time to time if you try to do too much at once, but as long as you give it time to process it's activity all will be good. It also doesn't work with the Logitech Smart Keyboard, so I returned the Home control hub and remote for the Smart control Hub and remote which do work with the smart keyboard. I also don't need to control home functions like lights and outlets, so why pay the extra money?

I love it. It works really good. Because it works with a hub there is not need of being in the same room to control the devices. I made an exchange for my old harmony control that had the screen, I miss it, but I could use the screen thru the app in my cellphone. It's a great control

Bought the Harmony Remote Companion to replace my Harmony Remote 880 (which still worked, but getting harder to recharge after 10+ years). The Logitech remotes are relatively easy to set up, with intuitive software, and very easy to use once they are setup.
