Customers are saying

Customers love the excellent image and night vision quality produced by this 4K wired DVR security system. Many appreciate the clear video quality, both during the day and at night. However, some users found the motion detection settings needed adjustment to reduce unnecessary alerts. Improvements to the motion detection sensitivity could enhance the overall user experience.

I’ve used Lorex in the past so I am familiar with the setup and use of these cameras, but even without my past experience this is a good set for the beginner. The only part of the setup that takes any time at is running the wires. I have literally 0 experience with wiring anything, ever... besides these cameras. That’s it... Once those are run you’re up and running in no time. Installing these and running the wires shouldn’t deter you, think about where you want to place these and your hard drive before hand and map it out. You’ll realize if you have any limitations pretty quickly. I’ve had these running for a few weeks now and haven’t had any issues at all. I do notice a significant difference in the new 4K camera compared to my old 1080 cameras. Very happy with the quality of the set and the 2TB storage! That’s a huge plus that I don’t want to overlook. I highly recommend this set, it’s cheaper than the comparable wireless set, and the wiring isn’t bad!

I am a big fan of Lorex and their camera’s and this Wired 4K surveillance system is a high-quality system with great video and is easy to configure with the Lorex Home App. My biggest grip is having to wire this up, but to be honest, that is the best way to do things in the long run. You do not have to worry about batteries dying and you can mount these in places that you only have to get to once. The 4k video quality is great and provides a nice clean and clear picture on my 4K TV. I used my existing monster brand 4K HDMI cable and not the one that was included in the box. Setting up the system is easy using the included instructions. At first, I felt a little overwhelmed by the number of cables and connectors that are included, but you just need to follow the steps and you will have it set up in no time. Minus the time it takes to run the cables of course, but you should hook up each camera and set things up BEFORE you install them just in case you have a faulty camera or wiring. After you get the cameras hooked up, you can run through the setup of configuring the device to your home network. You can label your cameras, customize your recording options (motion areas, schedule) and customize your smart motion detection settings. The system can also recognize vehicles and people, which is a nice feature to have, and you can act upon what the alert is rather than just having motion alerts and having to keep checking the app. I have some high traffic areas and I was getting a lot of push alerts on my phone, so I had to play with the settings more to cut down the motion detection areas. Lorex has created these cameras with their Active Deterrence system, which basically means that they have built in lights and sirens on them, neither is very loud or bright, but they do the job. There is a smart search feature that you can filter out the motion events. The filter allows you to search by date and time, person or vehicle, and area. I found it to work well as I tested it out. They claim up to 35 days of storage but with certain criteria for that. I do not think it will record 35 days at 24/7 though. A 2-year warranty is included and there are a lot of features on this system. Local storage, in my opinion is a great advantage over a cloud-based system since you control the video. The only real downside, in my opinion, is having to wire up the system, but once you do that, you will not have to touch the cameras again, pending some damage or failure. Pros: 2 year warranty Monthly fees, no! Access your cameras remotely control over your videos, no cloud storage 4K Video quality Cons: Wiring the cameras

It is really slow to respond when using the app. The live stream has way to much Lag to the point people will be there and then they are not as if they vanished or they will jump from one end of the driveway to another like magic. It messes up constantly while using it; the live feed is really blurry with fast movement and it records a blurry image also when there is fast movement so if someone is robbing you, as long as they move really fast, they could probably get away with it; you may never be able to get a face. It has great features if they actually worked. Don’t waste your money. I took it back and got my money back.

I’ve been working on the install of this Lorex 8 channel 4k wired indoor/outdoor system with 2TB hard drive DVR. First off, I unboxed everything and the kit comes complete with the DVR, 8 cameras, 3 power adapters (2 for each set of 4 cameras and 1 for the DVR), 8 wire harnesses for the cameras, and a mouse to use via the tv/monitor. Once I had everything out, I opened the quick setup manual and was off. This is my second wired Lorex setup, but my first 4k. I decided to leave the existing wires in place and to run the new ones just in case there’s a difference. I didn’t check, so I don’t know for sure. Also, I can use the older cameras later if I have any blind spots. With 8 cameras that have 105 degrees field of view, that shouldn’t be an issue, right? Anyway, setup was a breeze. The only hiccup I had was my fault. I forgot to change the input on the tv and was looking at the old Lorex menu. I kept trying to get the install wizard to show up. Once I figured out my mistake, I changed HDMI inputs and the wizard was waiting for me to click it. I was able to get it all installed via the tv and the Android app I already had installed. I just clicked add a new unit, scanned the QR code on the new DVR and all was good. The cameras are great as is the tv interface. For that matter, even though it’s small, the Android app is pretty awesome too. The picture clarity is wonderful and I’m looking forward to getting all 8 cameras up and running. For the review, I was able to get 3 wired up for viewing and as I said, I’m impressed. So, what’s the downside to this kit? Well, it’s a wired unit of course. Running wire in the attic is the only way to go. It’s not like you can leave the wires exposed or they become more vulnerable to trespassers/thieves/crooks etc. Any wire I have exposed on the underside of the soffit, I router a groove in a 2 x 4 and sister it to the rafter tail. That way it can be painted and screwed in. I’m able to remove it should I need to get to the wire. Also, it doesn’t look odd, just like a double truss was used in that spot. Also, the fan noise is loud. It’s not as loud as the first kit I installed, but still too loud for inside the house. Like the other, it’s in a garage cabinet. The first one I removed the slotted vents and the noise went away. It’s really not fan noise, but the wind generated by the fan seems to hum/whistle/or something through the slots. Now that there’s a big hole there, no noise. I’ll probably do this one too with my Dremel tool, but for now, it’s not a problem. I imagine it will be once summer heat kicks in. Anything else? Well, it does have VGA out (really???). Doesn’t everyone use HDMI, lol? There’s no monthly fee or subscription. I have a 2-camera setup from another company and lately, they’ve been pushing monthly subscriptions. You must click later or no every time you want to view a live feed or recorded content…ugh. Nice that this is contained in the house. The included cameras do have colored night vision, but I think the black and white video is a bit sharper. I think the ambient light tends to make the video harder to view, just in my opinion, YMMV. The system has a remote siren you can fire off as well as a motion-activated warning light. I think that’s about everything. I’m stoked about the coverage this kit gives me and will like it even more once I finish hooking up the other cameras. It takes a bit of time and I need to purchase a fiberglass wire running kit from the cheap tool store. It’s 33’ long and it will make going across my cathedral ceiling attic space way easier. If I remember, once I have all the cameras running, I post some pics if I can via the replies button.

I had night owl in use and the application gave me problems many times, I bought these lorex and they are another problem but the application works fine after a year with them, the difference between these two brands according to my experience night owl has a bad lorex operating system it works well, night owl we can see the cameras five devices at the same time lorex only allows one, lorex is a nuisance asking for a password night owl only the fingerprint and the fingerprint with lorex was set, we buy things to make life easier not to cause us pain head
