Solid if not a tad expensive
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this solely for the inevitable return to campus for college. Even despite that the M1 does work quite well as a regular laptop despite the limited ports available. Touch ID is quick and responsive just as it was on older iPhones, and the battery life is second only to the M1 MacBook Pro. I have only used it so far for writing papers and for streaming and out of the box it went from 80% to roughly 75% after 3 hours. Even on standby mode it sips power and I have yet to plug it in to fully charge as it is that well optimized for battery life. At $800 for an ultrabook its a great price to pick up as it easily can beat others in the same price range. at normal MSRP of $999 you may want to see how well it might work for you but is still a solid contender.

Best ultrabook I've ever owned.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this laptop for about 2 weeks now, and it's been reliable and very, very fast. All the features that have been implemented are really nice to have, such as opening the lid and having it promptly up and running. I never thought it would make any difference for my use, but it does. Also, it's very fast for almost all the tasks that I've thrown at it. I often do light work, such as web browsing, Word and Excel and some video editing for my child videos and some work videos as well, and even using Adobe Premiere Pro, which's not optimized for it yet, runs very smoothly, with one or two glitches here and there. I've used a MacBook Pro 13 from 2014 and 2018, and then migrated to a Razer Blade 15 2019, but none of them were as good as this simple 8 Gb and 256 Gb SSD MacBook Air (except for gaming, of course). The keyboard is excellent and much better than the old version butterfly mechanism ones, which started failing on me after 2 months on my old Pro 13. The screen is alright, not the best looking ones with these bezels. And build quality, well... Expect an Apple product build quality, so, it's pretty good for its class and price. I'm thinking of buying another one with more RAM and SSD storage, and keeping this one for my wife, but, truly, I'm already very satisfied with this one. If you own a MacBook Air or even a MacBook Pro 13 with the low end specs and if you're thinking of upgrading, this is definitely a buy, again, with some more SSD storage.

Awesome MacBook air
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome laptop, The Gold Mac-book air didn't fail my expectations. This is like hitting Jackpot. I mean given the best decent computers today, the MacBook Air is the lightest, with an M1 system on a chip meaning, the CPU, RAM, GPU, and other chip components are on a single piece of silicon. I love the solid-state drives (SSDs) for file storage. They’re faster than hard drives,

Superb computer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super fast computer. Very light. Superb design. It feels like a well built and well designed device. Apple leaves nothing to compromise.....it is the Mercedes of laptops. I wish it had a touch screen, but the iPad works pretty well for that! I've used many computers, but since 1984, my favorite has been the Mac. It is just an better experience all around.

M1 ain't no joke.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for my Mother and my Aunt. They aren't very computer savvy and we all agreed an apple laptop would be better for their needs and easier for them to use and navigate over windows. Once we got them set up, its been a pleasant and comfy experience. The M1 chip is very powerful and it stays pretty quiet most of the time. They are very happy with their purchase.

An impressive offering from Apple
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant at first due to new technology. However I decided to go all in on the base model and I am extremely happy I did. The machine wakes up super fast and does not heat up as much as my previous apple MacBook Pro with intel chip. This m1 chip is a winner it does not get as hot as the intel chip and the battery life is off the chart. I look forward to putting t through its paces. Joe

I. Love. This. Laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this laptop! Definitely the best I've ever had. I've always been a MacBook user, owning a MacBook Air (i3, 2014) and MacBook Pro (i3, 2017)... as you can see I love upgrading! I had to get my hands on the M1 Processor and I am not disappointed. The battery life and smoothness it provides is unmatched at this price point. I purchased this on January 29th, using it mainly for audio processing, video editing, writing, and some normal browsing but I feel like I've only had to charge it twice! Insane. Speaking of the processing power, I've always gone for the base processors in my prior MacBooks because of the price. That said, I've always noticed lagging with certain software and apps that need the power to export & upload videos, audio, create graphics, etc. With the M1 being the new standard at every price point, it made my decision much easier. It definitely closes the performance gap between the Air and Pro models, while increasing it between the newer and older models in a very good way. Lastly, I feel like the big criticism for any new MacBook that's been released in the last 4 years is the change to USB type C. Not for me! My learning curve for USB-C was with my old Pro, but once I started acquiring the necessary gear I quickly found it's not only more reliable, but more powerful. Pretty soon, that will be the way with all new tech and it will (rightfully) become the standard.

M1 vs i5 definitely delivers on battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What’s there to say, it’s a Mac. :) we actually have both the M1 and i5 models from 2020, and this one was for my wife, while I use the i5 for boot camp. She definitely has the better battery life (about an hour more than mine) and general performance thanks to Apple silicon, which of course is the only difference between the two. Speed, thunderbolt and battery are all top-notch!

Masterpiece Of A Laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this laptop for about 11 months now. It has not let me down once with performance, battery, and its simplicity. I've used this laptop for my personal and work use and everything runs smoothly with it staying on low heat. Battery life is consumed slowly, even with a few working apps open. I do recommend it if you are a light computer user.

Believe the Hype
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordinarily, I am a Windows guy, partly because I am a self-employed accountant and therefore a heavy user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. While Office products are available for MacOS, objectively they don't hold a candle to Office on Windows, period. I am also not a big fan of MacOS, partly because I am more comfortable in Windows. All that being said, Apple's already excellent hardware is taken to an entirely new level with the M1 processor. Apple really knocked it out of the park. The combination of performance, heat management, battery life, screen quality and brightness are incredible. You simply cannot get a fanless Windows 10 laptop that performs like this at any price - and this is less than $1,000! The next time you hear someone say all Macs or Apple products are overpriced, point them to this.
