Wow...I expected a much better from MacOS

This is my very first MacOS device, I have been a Windows user going back to Windows XP. I became very curious about other computer systems and recently also bought a Chromebook. Well...first impressions of this Macbook are, it's very much like my iPad Pro 12.9. Both systems look very much the same and have a similar layout and design. And along with first impressions of MacOS, I am stunned that this is the best Apple can do. It's so limited in settings. The mouse interface...for non-Apple mice...is terrible. The scrolling with a mouse is so bad it's laughable. The only computer system that's worse for mouse interaction is Chromebook. But the MacOS mouse interface is very much like that of the Chromebook. And installing the specific mouse software (for a Logitech mouse) can't help because, even though the software installed, the application is non-existent; I can't find it anywhere. I guess I can try using the very expensive Apple Magic Mouse. Nevertheless... There is no setting I can find that allows the Macbook to shut down when closing the lid. I'm just finding MacOS very inconvenient and unfriendly coming from Windows. Apple has nothing on Microsoft. Windows is a super-sophisticated masterpiece of software design and programming compared to MacOS. Though MacOS is better than ChromeOS, it is so only by a few steps. And ChromeOS is an utter joke. But I now can see why ChromeOS is designed the way it is: Google wanted to copy MacOS...right down to the way a mouse functions. Though MacOS is a more serious computer system than ChromeOS, it's only because MacOS has more system settings and options. But they both pale in comparison to Windows; the user-friendliness and convenience of the Windows system and interface. What on Earth happened to Apple when Microsoft stole their GUI way back in the '70s? I'm just stunned how terrible Apple's computer system is after all these decades. And it brings to stark contrast that if Apple hadn't come up with the iPhone, they would not have survived...not with just their Mac operating system. Come on, Apple! You gotta do better than this. You need to get serious with user-convenience and quality of the interface. People like myself who suffer from arthritis are not better off with MacOS.
