I would've bought the MacBook Pro instead
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I could do it over again I would've bought the MacBook Pro. I've done many things with this computer: Video editing via Adobe Premiere Pro & Rush as well as After Effects, Picture Editing via Lightroom & Photoshop, Audio Editing via Adobe Audition, and Design via Illustrator. And yes with the 8GB version!!!! One thing I will say is that if you are searching the web, streaming videos, utilizing less stressful apps on your computer such as Word & Excel, you're gonna be fine. For that this computer will last you until Apple's last possible firmware update for this series of processors. Macs have the ability to glean the same performance whether or not they are plugged into battery, and that's why they control the marketshare of mobile devices. But if you are using this computer as a workstation to edit videos/audio/design graphics/code, etc on a professional or even semi professional level, then this computer is not for you. First off, 8GB is NOT enough. Your constant memory swap between the 8GB of Ram and SSD while using intensive apps will degrade your computer's performance overtime. My MacBook Air scores roughly 15% less than identical systems of its kind in Cinebench R23 due to this fact. Which brings us to the SSD. It's just too small. Mac OS + System Data takes up 65 GB of space as it is. That doesn't leave you much for applications, some of which are 5GB and beyond. Again if you're not a heavy user and only intend on utilizing this for school work, then no big deal. A person at the professional level should utilize no less than 32 GB of Ram ESPECIALLY when using After Effects as it is a very ram-intensive program. GPU is trash. Once again it can handle YouTube videos and online streams, but rendering graphics via Adobe Premiere & After Effects is a NIGHTMARE. Used to be fast, but nowadays I'll wait 5+ minutes for ONE essential graphic to render in my timeline. Their proprietary measurement of 7-Core-this 8-Core-that is extremely frustrating. How am I supposed to know what the hell that means? If you're not trying to break the bank but you're a creator, don't get a Mac. You can't afford it homie. Get a PC instead, or shell out the extra dough to upgrade to a Maxed out M2/M3 Pro. Remember, BUY ONCE CRY ONCE. For Liberty Bibberty. For Democracy.

An honest review from a millennial
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved this computer even though it really doesn’t make sense. My old computer was a 2010 and had all the right ports. This comes with 2 usb c ports so be prepared to upgrade you old cell and monitor if you want to keep compatibility. It has no hdmi port or regular usb port. You can buy these separately for like 70 if you want to keep consistent with Apple. I will say that the screen was beautiful to look at. Wish the speaker was a bit louder and also wish it was touch screen. All in all nice but it’s clear apple could do better and kind of takes advantage of us. I bought this for a job but got ghosted and was sad to return.

Absolutely worth it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve always wanted a Mac book air but I constantly thought it was going to be a waste of money. It’s a nice little computer for what I’m using it for. Good for college students and pretty easy to use if you know apple products. It’s a gorgeous piece of equipment and I love using it every day. Battery life is great for writing novels and watching shows and doing school work. It charges pretty fast for a laptop in my opinion and I love that I can customize it how ever I like/need to. It tells me about the websites it blocks from trying to track my internet searches , I absolutely love that feature. It’s nice to know that I’m not being watched or tracked while I’m using it. The pages app works so much like Microsoft word, i love that I can use my ipad as another monitor with the screen sharing or what ever it’s called. I haven’t found any new tricks with this computer yet but I’m sure as time goes on I’ll find more and more stuff that I’ll love about it!

Wonderful Device, I'm impressed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.fantastic device. I switched from PC and I am blown away. Battery is fantastic. I browse the web, use messenger and watch Netflix and the battery lasts me all day with heavy use, or quite a few days if I am only using it for a few hours. my HP only lasted about 6 hours where as I would guess about 15 hours with the air. the keyboard, track pad and display are extremely high quality and the casing feels nice.

Should last me a while!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great, great laptop. One of the nicest flat keyboards I've tried--makes a good sound and buttons have the perfect resistance. The display is beautiful and so far it has been pretty fast. My aboslute favorite part about this laptop though is its battery life. You could leave this bad boy on lowest brightness playing a video for probably three days straight, I'm not kidding. With full brightness the battery has seemed to last me around 12 hours, maybe more. Quite impressive. Only wish I'd had the money to get one with more memory.

Dated Design in Dire Need of a Touch Screen.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In using the new M1, I can't help but feel that this is a dated design in dire need of a touch screen. It benches very fast but to the user seems slower than my HP Spectre 13 inch because of lack of touch screen input and the inability to use the screen in tent mode, etc. The battery is amazing lasting approximately 2 days for me in normal use. There also is no noise and minimal heat. iPad apps don't feel right because of the lack of a touch interface. Boot Camp is gone and emulations are not currently working. In summary, Apple needs to go all in on this thing or else they will have a product that specs well but is not satisfying to the average user.

Get this, fast, efficient and Silent...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, let me put it in perspective: I have a ROG Zephyrus with AMD Ryzen 9 and NVDIA 2060 GPU (which is pretty high end for laptops) And I have a M1 Air with 16GB RAM, now here it is where it gets interesting, the GPU on the M1 Chip is on par or is better than 2060 in few of the use cases I have tested in graphic rendering like in Adobe, DaVinci Resolve video editing tools, and some of the videos have rendered in 4k much faster than a beast like ROG Zephyrus, yes ROG can handle gaming better, but there aren't many games that we can test on Mac on par with Windows. Having said that, M1 with everything on a SOC chip (RAM, Processor and GPU) is like magic, very fast, responsive, and efficient, and key thing in bold like the ROG or other intel based laptops (including Mac's own) this does not get WARM at all!!!, trust me that's a huge difference on how M1 handles processes more efficiently. I can only imagine the run for money NVIDIA or AMD will have once Apple releases the next version with more cores in GPU and CPU minus the heavy mother board requirements, or the heat! this is a true game changer... am saying it because I have the best of the both world from Intel (ROG Zephyrus) and Mac M1, because as a hobby I do video editing, I have switched over to a MacBook Air, which was unimaginable couple of months back! Bottom line server class performance on a laptop. period.

Apple's MacBook Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite many thinking this computer is over hyped. Apple's MacBook Pro is the best investment I have made in a computer to date. I myself am a busy person juggling many things, and as a business owner, this computer holds an abundance of features that make life more convenient. One outstanding feature is that my iPhone wirelessly syncs with my laptop so everything on my phone is also on my computer. This is very helpful as it makes it possible to have my text, calls, photos, files, and so much more easily at my disposal spread across the sun-glare resistant screen. Additionally, the touch bar is a great new feature that makes things so easy and quick when switching tabs, word suggestions, etc. The modern sleek design also makes me want to work on the computer more because it makes me feel savvy and productive. However, I do not like that when the battery gets low, brightness darkens. Obviously, this is a problem with an easy solution, which again makes this computer even better. I purchased my MacBook Pro in March 2020 at the beginning of quarantine so that it would help me be more efficient and I am grateful i made this decision. Thus, I must urge you, if you are considering purchasing and investing in a MacBook Pro DO IT!

Love this laptop and the color!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this Laptop! I had a HP for years...and I just recently wanted to try the MacBook because I have an iPhone and wanted to keep in the apple family. When I seen this on sale and checked Reviews for this and the M2 (on YouTube as well)...I decided to give the M1 a try as my first Apple laptop. The price was perfect and I really love the Gold color and that was the deal breaker. Also, it meets my needs! I just need for basic everyday needs and work related projects. So far so good and haven't had any issues. I get a lot of compliments on the color. Also, picked up the same day I ordered the laptop which was great! I do recommend this laptop!

MacBook Air

I'm enjoying the computers, it's exactly what I was looking for: lightweight, portable, but more powerful than my iPad Pro.
