While I have used Apple iPhones for years and I wear an Apple watch this is the first Apple computer that I have ever used. For the price this computer is hard to beat. The size is great, the M1 chip is extremely fast and the display is amazing. I have not had any issues with running any of the software programs that I use. I normally don’t like keyboards and track pads on laptops but these are great and extremely easy to use. One thing that I found to be different than with the windows laptops that I have previously used, are the lack of ports. You only get two USB Type C ports, you will defiantly need an external hub with this. Also for the 256GB model, the storage is limited so I use an external 1TB SSD with it. Another difference is that you cannot upgrade anything on this laptop. With my previous windows laptops I would usually end up adding extra RAM or upgrading the hard drive myself over time. Overall I am very satisfied and would purchase this laptop again. Like I said at this price it’s hard to beat.

I've been using my new MacBook Air for a while now, and I'm very impressed with it. The performance is fantastic—it's fast, handles all my everyday tasks with ease, and the battery life is truly outstanding. I can use it all day for work or school without needing to worry about finding an outlet, which makes it perfect for taking on the go. The design is sleek and lightweight, which is a huge plus for portability. The only minor downside is the screen size. I chose the 13-inch model because of its portability, and while I love how light it is, I do find myself wishing for a bit more screen real estate when I'm working on multiple documents at once. However, this was a trade-off I was aware of and willing to make, and it hasn't detracted from my overall positive experience. Overall, I think this is an excellent computer for anyone who needs a powerful, reliable, and incredibly portable laptop.

Decent buy, so far - minimal experienced issues to-date. May not be worth the cost, though. Better usability than past PC/HP/Lenovo/Dell laptops I've had to use for work in my opinion.

I've been using the MacBook Air with the M1 chip for a few months now, and I have to say, it's been an absolute game-changer. From the moment I opened the sleek and stylish laptop, I was impressed. The M1 chip's performance is nothing short of remarkable. It's incredibly fast, handling multiple tasks with ease. Whether I'm browsing the web, editing photos, or even doing some light video editing, it never lags. The fanless design makes it near-silent, which is a welcome change from my previous laptop. The battery life is outstanding. I can go through a full workday without worrying about recharging, and that's a big plus for my on-the-go lifestyle. The instant wake-up and resume feature is also super convenient. The Retina display is stunning, with vibrant colors and sharp text. Watching movies or working on design projects is a joy. The keyboard feels comfortable and is a pleasure to type on. The build quality is exceptional, and the laptop is incredibly thin and lightweight. It's perfect for travel and carrying around. The Magic Keyboard and the larger trackpad are also nice improvements. As for software compatibility, the transition to Apple Silicon has been seamless. Most of the apps I use regularly have been optimized, and even when running non-optimized apps, the performance is impressive. In summary, the MacBook Air with the M1 chip is a fantastic laptop. It offers incredible performance, outstanding battery life, a beautiful display, and a sleek design. Whether you're a professional or a casual user, it's a brilliant choice. Apple has truly set a new standard in laptop performance with this one.

I cannot believe that it has been one year since I ditched Windows for MacOS. But seriously this base model M1 MacBook Air has not only changed the way I feel about the Apple computers but it has also completely changed the way I work daily. In short, this is, in my personal opinion, the best laptop I have used. Shocking definitely, especially considering that I was a long-time Windows user. But, welcome to my long-term review of this base model Apple M1 MacBook Air after using it for almost one year, and if you are still considering whether your next laptop should be a Windows or MacBook... I hope my sharing will help to swing you towards one. Now you have probably seen a million people talk on this machine, so there's no benchmark but I am going to bring you through how I use this machine on any typical day. #1 Webcam & Microphone quality Right off the bat, I have probably done hundreds of video calls with these things. The webcam even though is only 720p overall, offers better colors, better skin tone, and an overall brighter picture, if compared with my Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming laptop. But what’s impressive is the Microphone quality. I use it not only for my Zoom sessions but also to record voice memos, WhatsApp audio, WhatsApp calls, Facetime, making phone calls. #2 Audio Despite this being only 13”, the built-in speakers are just mind-blowing, with large & powerful output, which puts a lot of Premium Windows laptops to shame. If you want some “Me-only” moments, the headphone jack audio output is respectable, delivering clean, loud audio regardless of the workload #3 Keyboard Backlight The keyboard backlight is available in the Control Center for manual adjustments but you can always set it to Auto-adjust in System Preferences. #4 Touchpad The Touchpad. What more can I say? this is THE BEST built-in touchpad ever! Zero complaints. #5 Ports Now, for the two thunderbolt-3 ports on the left. Honestly, for my use with a simple hub in the past 1 year, it’s a non-issue. For one of the ports I run my UGREEN 10-in1 USB-C hub with 100W PD and this is the “command center” for my desk setup. It connects My 22” Monitor, my external HDDs, as well as my Flash drive and SD cards. It also has an ethernet port if I ever require faster connections The 2nd port I use with my Rii compact 83-key wireless keyboard & mouse combo or if I need to connect my iPhone directly via cable and use the machine as a Monitor, while I adjust the camera angle. #6 Display Now, this machine only allows you to natively connect to one external monitor. For me, it is perfectly fine. I’m not running multiple monitor setups directly with my M1 Air. Having said that, if I want to add a 2nd monitor in the future. I can do an easy upgrade and get a Dual HDMI USB-C Hub from HyperDrive. #7 What happens every morning So in the morning, I will have my coffee and breakfast at the coffee table in the living room. I will walk into my computer room, bring out the device, and set it on the table The “Instant On” feature is just fantastic as that means there is absolutely no waiting around, which unfortunately is something I always need to face every morning with my Windows laptop. The fingerprint unlock or Touch ID, which is also the Power Button, allows me to unlock my machine instantly. I can also use it to approve my purchases and automatically fill in my passwords. It just works. If I wanna lay back, I could sit back on the sofa and put it directly on my lap since it's fanless. #8 Performance & Battery life But here’s something that I truly appreciate about this machine, coming from being a Long-time Windows user. And that’s performance in a fanless chassis and how it continues to deliver consistent performance even while on battery. This means that you don’t get any drop in Performance when you plug out the power cable. Which is not something I can say for ANY Windows laptop. Now, I am also confident to say that everything you have heard about the battery is True. I usually start my morning with a fully-charged M1 Air, screen brightness at 50%, Wifi on, Bluetooth On and I will have multiple apps running, Whatsapp, Telegram, Safari (With 5 tabs), Apple Music playing and editing a 1080p video in iMovie. And it can last me at least 8 hours straight before I need to plug in the power at 10%. On days, when I am doing basic productivity tasks like Word, Excel, Emails, preparing my script, researching content, watching YouTube videos, and not doing any video editing, I only lose around 40% battery after a whole day. So in general, battery life is so good that it is never a concern. I lose about 10% per 2 hours whenever I am doing my productivity tasks.

Pros: * Impressive Performance: The Apple M1 chip continues to shine, offering remarkable speed and responsiveness in everyday tasks, from web browsing to content creation. Apps open in a snap, and multitasking is a breeze.
 * Silent and Cool Operation: The fanless design ensures your MacBook Air operates silently and remains cool even under moderate workloads, contributing to a comfortable and distraction-free user experience.
 * Excellent Battery Life: After 4 months of use, the MacBook Air still delivers exceptional battery life, easily lasting through a full day of work or entertainment without needing to recharge.
 * Sleek Design: The slim, lightweight design and Space Gray finish exude a premium look and feel. It's a stylish and portable companion for any setting.
 * Retina Display: The 13.3" Retina display continues to impress with sharp visuals and vibrant colors, making it enjoyable for both work and entertainment.
 * Rosetta 2 Compatibility: Most apps not natively designed for the M1 chip run seamlessly through Rosetta 2, so you won't face compatibility issues with your favorite software.
Cons: * Limited RAM: The 8GB of RAM can be somewhat limiting for power users or those who run memory-intensive applications. Consider upgrading to 16GB if your work demands it.
 * Storage Space: The 256GB SSD might feel constrictive if you deal with large files or a substantial media library. Managing storage space and utilizing external drives may be necessary.
 * USB-C Ports Only: The MacBook Air offers only two USB-C ports, and you'll likely need dongles or a dock for connecting older USB-A devices, HDMI, or SD cards. It can be inconvenient for some users.
 * Non-Upgradeable: Just like its predecessors, this MacBook Air model has soldered components, which means you can't upgrade the RAM or storage after purchase. It's essential to choose the right configuration from the start.
 * Lack of Dedicated Graphics: While the integrated GPU is capable for most tasks, those needing high-end graphics for gaming or specialized work might find it lacking.
 * Price Tag: Apple's products have always been on the premium side, and this MacBook Air is no exception. The cost can be a barrier for budget-conscious buyers.
In conclusion, the MacBook Air with the Apple M1 chip remains a strong choice for users seeking a powerful and portable laptop. After 4 months of use, it continues to impress with its performance and battery life. However, the limited RAM and storage, along with the reliance on USB-C ports, might not be suitable for everyone. Consider your specific needs and budget before making a purchase.

This Laptop Doesn’t Even Try—and Still Wins

I bought the M1 MacBook Air thinking, “Okay, I just need something light and fast.” What I got was a machine that casually sips battery for hours like it’s on a beach vacation and still runs faster than my motivation on a Monday. The thing doesn’t even have a fan… because it doesn’t need one. It stays cool, silent, and unbothered while I’m out here throwing 50 tabs, Zoom calls, photo editing, and Spotify at it like a mad person. Meanwhile, my old laptop used to sound like a jet engine just trying to open a PDF. The screen is crisp enough to make me question my entire Netflix watching history. Keyboard? Smooth. Trackpad? Basically magic. And the battery life? I charge it like once every blue moon and it still keeps going — I’ve started trusting it more than I trust myself. If laptops were people, this one would be that chill friend who always shows up on time, looks good doing it, and somehow still has energy left to help you move a couch.
