    Need some graphic work

I bought it on the 4th July Holiday and I paid just $89,99...it is a good and helpful GPS,just need some improvement on the graphics, but it is really nice and easy to use. People need to understand that,if you pay a little money in a thing you can not expect to get the best. It is the same as you buy a Honda expecting it to be a Mercedes,if you want more features go pay more in a better thing.

I prefer Magellan to Garmin and TomTom. The lifetime maps will save a lot of money. The only thing I dislike is the mounting bracket, mine worked fine for a while but then the suction cup wore out. You can get a cheap ($8) replacement though.

    Powers Off and Stops Working.

I purchased this GPS after looking closely at the 3 top brand models. This one really seemed great, and I loved the store model and price. I decided to test it in my hometown before my trip. The GPS worked for the first 15 minutes and then stopped working. The screen would not stay on (despite the fact it was charging.) Then it completely powered off and would not turn back on. I returned it thinking it was a defect exclusive to the particular GPS. I ended up exchanging it for the exact same model, and then left for my 12 hour trip. It worked great for the first 10 hours and then decided to completely stop working when I needed it the most. The GPS did the exact same thing as my first one, and the screen would not stay on. It was a horrible. scary mess. I can not recommend this GPS. It completely failed on me. However, Best Buy's Customer Service has been incredibly helpful with both returns. I've since switched brands.

I thought I was upgrading my Garmin but I was wrong. I used this product for a business trip to Canada. It worked perfectly the first few days and I thought it was good a investment for the price. By Wednesday, the touch screen would not register, addresses could not be located and some of the locations kept calculating. On Thursday, I almost missed an important meeting because the GPS routed us to a previous location. Luckily my co-worker realized with were headed in the wrong direction. On Friday, after lunch I tried to locate airport and it took me to a dead end which is really bad because it has lifetime maps. I tried to re-route to the airport and it just kept calculating, I had to ask a friendly Canadian for directions to the airport. I guess I should't be too mad because it was only $89 but I will definitely return for a Garmin.

    Disappointed compared to previous Magellan

Another annoyance is that it says in two miles continue on such and such road, when the road it is referring to is your next turn. Not until a half mile does it say turn right at such and such road. I have also been warned that the unit gets very slow after doing a map update. I wanted to test this, but it says no update is available. If I get 4 free updates per year, I would think there would be one since the unit was manufactured. I am returning it and buying a Garmin. I went with Magellan, dispite poor reviews, because I had great results with my old Magellan.

    No More Magellan GPS

My previous GPS was Magellan. No problem for 6 years but map update cost as much as buying new GPS, so I bought new one. What is wrong with this unit! Is it just this model? or because of Window mobile OS? (previous was not window OS). I have so much problem with this GPS that I have 2 more replacements (all under warranty). I have problem with 3rd one now. How complicated can GPS be? Magellan's service department is my best friends now. I will not buy Magellan anymore!

I went to BB to buy a Garmin GPS. The one I wanted wasn't in stock and I was in a bind to get one right away, so I decided to try Magellan. I had this unit for 48 hours before returning it. Every address I typed in, took an average of 5 minutes to get typed in as the GPS would not respond when trying to guess what word I was typing. It literally only responded to one letter, every 30-45 seconds. I typically just got so frustrated with it, that I never actually used it. I returned it and went with a Garmin.

I had both Magellan and Garmin on my car at the same time and the Garmin took me thru all the toll roads and was very fast and easy to use where as Magellan took me thru all the highways which I like the most would rather avoid toll but I have used Magellan a lot and they are good they will take straight rather than left and right turn which Garmin does

    Worst GPS Brand Ever!!!

I purchased this Magellan from Best Buy in June. At first it worked good. It wasn't as responsive as I would have liked and the maps didn't match up to the roads quite right but it was okay. About a week ago I received the first map update and tried to install it. First I was told by Magellan that it wouldn't install because I had registered it through their website and that they would undo the registration it and I would have to register it through their Content Manager software. Then i would be able to install the new map updates. Well that didn't work. I was able to download the maps and would get 91% of the way through the installation process and it would say an error had occurred. So I finally called into the help line instead of sending emails which is what they prefer for you to do. I was on hold for almost an hour before someone finally picked up and was told that the error had occurred and that I needed to format the g.p.s. and that they would send me an email with the downloads to set it back up and on top of that they would email me the patch to correct the problem that caused the error in the first place. I spent 4 hours downloading and reinstalling software to try and fix this piece of junk. Their instructions are very confusing even for me and I consider myself somewhat computer literate. Well in the end after all of that time I'm right back to were I started because the patch won't install on the stupid thing. I'm actually on hold with Magellan as we speak. I've had enough time to type out this whole review and still no help. DO NOT BUY THIS G.P.S.!!! Save yourself a bunch of time and trouble and spend the extra money for a Garmin. I regret not buying another one. Gonna see if I can get them to replace this Magellan that now has no maps on it for another one and sell it or something.

Awesome GPS for it's features & price. Traffic update, red light camera & speed trap warning works perfect. I bought this Magellan GPS as a replacement for my old basic model which still works. I guess this will also last a long time.

this product is cheap for a reason

i got it for a present, charged it, used it for short trips, and the first real trip the car charging cable that come with it wouldn't charge it. took the vehicle to a mechanic. wasn't my car was the charger, the company told me i was in charge of that piece. well four months goes down the line and we go to the beach, two hours midway into the beach trip after i bought a new twenty dollar car charger and the thing sticks into one place luckily i didn't trust it and had maps tucked away. i tried to contact the company however, it is all online and the responses are all the same automated stuff. so if you want to be disappointed pick this one. have only had it since Christmas and they wont let me return it since my sister didn't keep the receipt. so i have an expensive paperweight.

    Stay away from this one!

I purchased this unit last summer after owning two other Magellan GPS units without a problem. This one was hard to program from the start. Sometimes it would not even take an address. When I contacted Magellan they offered to replace it under warranty with a refurbished unit. I decided to keep it because I did not want the refurbished unit. Now I find that when I go to update the maps (lifetime) that they try to sell me additional services and I cannot update the maps. It takes me from their software to the online store that only gives me the option of reinstalling the software that sent me to the site. I will not buy Magellan again and advise you not to do so either.

    GPS sticks / lags

Got the gps yesterday and taking it back today. In theory I like the features but the lagtime in input drives me up the wall. This morning it took a good 1.5miles before it ever came up and was ready and then it just sits there with the time circle. Wanted to give something new a try b/c I've had the Garmin for the past 3 years but I'm going back to best buy to get a new garmin.
