This washer is noisy at times but quieter than the 4 year old High Efficiency (GE) it replaced. It uses more water on deep fill, while old washer water barely covered clothes. This washer has two spin speeds, depending on cycle selected, so clothes are not mangled and twisted by the washer. While not a perfect washer it is a big improvement over the one I had. I would recommend as a good washer for the price.

After waiting a month due to miscommunication , I get the washer and during installation checking , it didn’t work so it was sent back to store or wherever it goes

Severely damaged… not washer I saw in store …very disappointed … several calls for over 2 weeks …. ended up getting upgraded new unit same price but not from best buy

Pros: Price, energy saver and special way of operating to avoid using too much water - "Smart Sense" feature. Cons: makes loud banging noises - seriously considered for a while if it was broken, you can't leave the lid open while filling if you want to add soap before putting the clothes in because of the smart sense option, darker clothes occasionally come out with white soap spots on them - could be the detergent?

Had the washer for only 2 years, already having issues. I wouldn’t recommend buying it.

Doesn't get enough water unless I use Bulky Sheets option on every load. It locks the lid quite often during the cycle which I can live with except at the end of the wash. The lock stays on too long even though I know the wash has ended. It's annoying. It seems to clean well on the Bulky Sheets option.

I've had Maytag appliances for many years. My first Maytag served me for 19 yrs and NEVER had a repair. I just moved and left the old washer for the new owners. I still have a Maytag dry. My mother in law was the one who turned me into a Maytag housewife. She had one of the first semi-automatic washers that ran for 39 yrs! Even then it still worked. When my old machine died 6 mo ago I got this model, expecting it to stand up to Maytag 'old American standards'. It does not. My hubby went to Best Buy and came home with this machine w/o asking me what I wanted. I would have probably opted for something less expensive w/o all the cycle choices. But I've given it a fair chance. It does clean the clothes. But when it comes to a spin dry.... it is a D-. I agree with everyone who says it does NOT spin dry the clothes properly. I have two choices: either spin them again on the spin only cycle (which still doesn't do a good job spinning them 'dry' and pay for additional electricity) or adding more time in the dryer (which is electric) and paying for more electricity. Either way I lose. No matter how many 'spin only' cycles I run, this machine does NOT spin the loads dry enough to make them sufficiently ready for the dryer. It is a bit noisier than I have had in any of my past washers, but that's not a deal breaker. I have a king size bed and have plush sheets that feel warm like a comforter. I have to split the loads because in spite of the size of the tub, this machine doesn't spin them even close to dry. Result: it costs more to run because everything seems to have to be rerun, and even then they spend much more time in the 'electricity eating' dryer before I can put them back on the bed. I would love to see Maytag go to the housewives of American and ask them what they need in a washer before they start developing these so called 'state of the art' machines. Moral of the story: I would not purchase this machine again. Maytag is no longer the dependable machine of times gone by. Absolutely not worth the cost. Sorry Maytag, I don't know when you compromised your products but it was a big mistake. I am no longer a Maytag supporter.

I’m very disappointed at this product, I bought this washing machine less than a year and let me tell it has become a nightmare! The setting are stupid and the water sensor nonsense! It doesn’t give enough water for the clothes to be wash! Clothes are not clean yet they still smell sweat! I seen myself in the bathtub washing my shirt from work by hand only to put them back in the washing machine or even worse put them in water with detergent the night before! I called whirlpool customer service and spoke with Melisa, then Crystal, then her manager and all they can say was sorry no refunds and sorry for your situation, now I’m stuck for years with the most worthless washing machine of all times!!! I want my money back!! I hope someone reads my mess or escalate the issue to have a resolution! I trusted the salesman at Bestbuy when he recommended this product. Ohhh and before I forget it takes almost 2 hours just for one load! There is no efficiency at all when my water bill is going up!!

I regret to say that my experience with the Maytag 4.2 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer with Dual-Action PowerWash Agitator has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I started using this machine, it has been a continuous source of frustration. The noise level of this machine is unacceptable. It sounds like a jet engine taking off in my laundry room. The banging and clanking are so loud that I can't even hear myself think, let alone have a conversation. It’s disruptive and very disappointing for a brand that claims to provide quiet operation. The design and build quality also leave much to be desired. The lid feels flimsy and does not close properly. The control panel is confusing and not user-friendly. I expected more from a brand like Maytag, but this washer feels cheaply made and poorly designed. On May, 2024 It needed service and guess what, the total repair bill was $408.86. As today, July 30, 2024 it stop working again.... Save yourself the headache and invest in a better quality washer.

I received this washer yesterday. It looks very nice but as other customers have stated, it does not fill with enough water to wash your clothes well. I had to replace my old washer because it stopped working, and I had it for 7 years. But it gave me the option to pick my water level depending on my load size- small, regular, large, or extra large. This washer doesn't give that option, you can only pick the auto sense option or deep wash. I tried picking both and the amount of water was still low. I like my clothes covered with water or at least submerged in the water. I am returning this and getting GE because it gives better water level options, plus it's the same size and about $100 cheaper than this one.

I have owned this washer for almost a year and regardless of setting, it will not clean. Stains and odors remain after multiple washings for: oil, lipstick, cat pee, dog poop, mud, yard soil, blood, and just plain dirt. I have tried numerous detergents, spot removers, and all the settings on the machine (which seem to be only for show--none seem to do anything different). Once the lid is locked, you can't see what is going on. It occasionally stops at the spin cycle and I have to restart from there. Sometimes it won't come off the spin cycle even if I turn the dial back to the start position. It will need to spin through the dry new load and only then will it allow me to restart. The water saver sensors put minimal water in, the agitator does nothing. It takes FOREVER to wash a load. I have a hair salon and a pet boarding business and used to do several loads a day. Now I can fit in maybe three in a day. The worst washer I have ever had!!! Now I'm stuck having spent hundreds of dollars. I must rewash most soiled items by hand to get them clean. This was the worst purchase of washers I've ever made in 50 years of doing laundry.

The washer was not what the advertisement portrayed it to be. I lacked durability.

It has not been a bad washer but not the best either. It takes forever to do a load, it sounds like it’s dying, and now to top it off, I purchased it November 11, 2017 barely out of the 1 year total warranty and now it breaks down. Really? Not sure if I’d recommend it or not.

Garbage... Water level was almost empty. Washer was agitating dry clothing. Unit was set on high level. Next load it agitated for 1 1/2 hours before I secured it. This is NOT an analog washer as advertised. It is computer controlled with rotary dials. Maytag was always the best. They are not Maytag anymore, they are Whirlpool. I returned it for a much more expensive model. It is working well so far. This may be my first and last Maytag purchase... Do we really need a computer to tell us how to wash our clothing???
