The last Maytag I bought was in 1997. This is different a bit. Don't know why it was changed. I got it less than two days ago and I am already pleased with my purchase. This washer is beautiful. It's also QUIET so I don't understand the noise complaints. The knobs are all turnable knobs and not computerized flashy fluff that will short out and quit working on a whim. This is exactly what I wanted! Also there is an agitator. Whoever heard of a washing machine without one, that actually cleans anything? Might as well beat your clothes on a rock if you want them clean. It's not as crazy fast as some that spit water at you like a over caffeinated monster. I didn't notice the spin or vibration cycle so it can't be much. I only noticed subdued quiet sounds. I had to check if it was still on it's so low key. I heard no loud noises at all. I know my clothes were damp and spinned out well. This takes some work off of the matching Maytag dryer I got at the same time. I am happy and believe I will love this new Maytag set as much as my 1997 duo.

Love my new washing machine top loader with agitator . My clothes have never been cleaner! Very affordable, too! Made in the u.s.a !! Also won me over!

The new washing machines are not made like they were 20 years ago, but I think this is the closest. I completely understand trying to save water but with our lifestyle and my husband working at a refinery which leaves his clothes smelling bad, I need a washing machine that can fill up with water when I need it to and this is the only new washing machine I’ve found where I can do that. We had a front load first that I returned immediately and bought this washing machine. I like when I have a smaller or less soiled laundry I can use auto sensing and it does a great job of cleaning. When I need more water I can put this on bulky items, deep fill and rinse with fabric softener and I can get the tub to fill almost all the way up. The only negative I’ve found so far is the agitation on a full deep fill doesn’t agitate as fast as I would like it to, it’s more of a swooshing action which is better for preserving clothes but not so great with getting stains out. But so far, overall I am happy.
