We bought this 4.5 years ago and a squeaking started within the first year. I should have fixed it then because I am fixing it now and it's going to cost me about $550 to fix. That is the amount we paid for it. The gear "stuff" that manages the agitation and spinning needs to be replaced. Based on the fact that the motor and everything else is good and that, overall, Maytag has a good reputation, I am going to repair vs buy a new one. My experience could be an anomaly but I would have hoped for 8-10 years before a major repair.

This is our third set of Maytag washer and dryer. No problems with the first two sets. They lasted about 10 years each. This new washer does not put enough water in the Machine. My clothes come out of the washer with dry spots. Some spots never got wet at all. The only way to solve this problem is to was on Bulky sheets and towels. That way the water fills the tub. So I’m Wasting a lot of water. That’s the only way the clothes come out clean.

Very pleased with the size and ease of settings. Wash comes out very clean and seems softer.

Purchased this washer and matching dryer new in late 2016. Over the past month the washer has not been agitating correctly. Scheduled a service call ($100) to come diagnose it hoping it would be a simple fix. Turns out the gearbox is shot and needs replaced. Total for parts and labor is over $600 plus the $100 Maytag diagnosis fee. So all in all it costs more to fix than to replace a washer that is less than 4 years old. Called Maytag and the lady told my wife there’s nothing they can do for us. So we’re throwing this one away and bought GE models instead. Highly disappointed in the reliability of Maytag products now.

I bought one in June of 2017. My biggest concern is that coins AND laundry get caught up under the agitator. I currently have an entire pillow case caught under the agitator and am trying to figure out how to remove it. I do not like the fill options either. Your choices are either auto fill or completely full. I would like more choices for a manual fill. The auto fill doesn't use enough water and you end up having to rinse at least twice, so it isn't saving water. I really don't like the fact that coins get stuck in the agitator.

Purchased 3 weeks ago. This washing machine is extremely loud when running and filling. I actually checked my water pipes to make sure that they had not loosened, they are solid. We can hear this machine running in our family even when the laundry room door is closed. During the spin cycle it vibrates much more then the top loader it replaced and the cabinet sides flex enough to make a noise as well. For this reason alone I would not recommend this product.

I always bought Maytag washers for over 20 years and felt confident getting this. It is the worst machine I've ever had. I cannot use any cycle except for wrinkle control because it is the only one with a slower spin cycle. The machine goes out of balance constantly with all other cycles and will go out of balance with the wrinkle control cycle when washing jeans. It bangs so loud and starts walking across the floor. The machine is so loud with so many noises and it does not do a good job cleaning. I've reached out to Maytag many times but got no help. I hate this machine and will NEVER buy maytag again.

THIS is the 2nd one in a week,, the fist one worked but after the cycle was over the done light lite up like it should.. but after sitting a hour or two the lid lock light would flash and the only way to get the washer to work again was to unplug it..and plug it back in..so i called maytag they said is was defected and they would send a service man out ... i said no you will not i am returning it... so bestbuy sent me new one ,,same model..now this one stops the middle of washing a blanket on the deep water setting..this machine can't handle "large" loads without completely stopping and having to be reset. Well, it happens all the time with this machine. A "large" load consisting of a blanket the cycle is done you discover it has stopped on the wash cycle, ALL lights are off and the items are sitting in there soaked, and you have to reset and hit drain and spin again. It doesn't just happen sometimes, but most of the time. . Really poorly made machine; I would not recommend at all. I am going to try a different brand...

We bought this washing machine in April of 2020 and it is now July of 2023 and the machine needs a new transmission which is not covered under the 10 Warranty. The cost to repair the machine is more than the machine itself which makes no sense. I guess that's why the Maytag repairman is always so bored in the commercials. Not because of a dependable and reliable product that lasts for several years but because they are junk and break down. The 10 year warranty badging that they proudly display isn't worth the cost of the sticker. Will never buy another Maytag or Whirlpool product again.

I’ve had to repair this washer three times. Twice it stripped the the plastic drive splines in the tub and once it stripped the splines in the agitator. I chose the machine because it was proudly built in the USA, or so the sticker says. I guess if it’s poorly designed it doesn’t matter where it’s built. I’m sure their response will be that these are failure points to prevent damage to the transmission. I say invest $10 more dollars in materials and make it strong enough so wet clothes can’t destroy it. It certainly wasn’t the least expensive one I saw. Secondly, I chose the washer because of the 10 year warranty. Sounds great right? Nothing to worry about for 10 years. Not so fast. We live in a rather rural area. Much to my chagrin, no service companies cover this area. Either I wrestle the heavy bas+ard out of the house and onto my truck and haul it 50 miles, or watch youtube videos and fix it myself. Not amused at the moment.

Cleans clothes well and is pretty quiet. The instruction manual could cover more wash options. I had to find them online.

Worst washer machine ever. First time delivered the water pump was defeative from day one. Stayed up until midnight dealing with wet clothes. The machine was blasted loud at Ieast so I thought until a replacement came 1.5 weeks later! The replacement also was ridiculous and even louder. What a crappy piece of machinery. To make matters worse Best Buy Associate hung up on us while trying to get help. Give me my money back!

I am so upset and disappointed in this washer. The auto-sensing is SENSELESS. It doesn't allow enough water. It only fills about half way up the clothing. Sometimes when you look in, you cannot even see water at all. I have tried different cycles but none of them allow enough water except "bulky/sheets" and that fills it all the way up like the "deep water wash." I usually have small to medium loads and filling the large tub all the way is a waste of water but you cannot control the water...it is either very insufficient or filled to the top. Not having enough water pulls and twist my clothes which I feel is hard on the clothing and the clothes come out tightly wrinkled in tiny accordion folds. I don't put everything in the dryer and even in the dryer the clothes come out wrinkled so I am having to do a LOT more ironing. Truthfully, I absolutely HATE this washer! I usually don't do reviews unless I really like or greatly dislike a product, I would have returned this washer, but we went out of town for 3 months right after the purchase and when we returned, it was too late. I had a repairman come out but this is just the way the washer works. I don't want anyone else to suffer the frustration and misery that I am and be stuck with this horrible product. I have had 2 Maytags in the past and always very satisfied,

I purchased this washer as gift for my daughter and grandchildren, and paid a little more for it because I wanted them to have a good brand and I thought Maytag fit the bill. MY MISTAKE! Exactly 24 months later the washer stopped draining and started to leak. I called Best Buy repair service and was told SIGHT UNSEEN that these washers are considered DISPOSABLE UNITS and any repairs costs would far exceed the price of buying a new one. I couldn't believe it- so I called FOUR more repair shops only to confirm that these units are well known in the industry and being UNREPAIRABLE and there was NO POINT in trying to replace any parts. After 24 months and at no fault of my own, I had no choice but to BUY A WHOLE NEW WASHER. I was told by Best Buy 'well sometimes you just get a lemon- it happens' and they told me there was nothing they could do about it. Maytag never called me back. UNBELIEVABLE. The worse thing is, these machines are STILL FOR SALE in Best Buy stores! How sad for the next sucker to get taken advantage of. Shame on Maytag for selling such a lousy product and shame on Best Buy for not caring about their loyal customers! SO DISAPPOINTED!

We bought this washer to replace our old whirlpool washer that the repairman told us wouldn't be worth it to fix. I'm starting to wish we would have just paid to fix it now because apparently they don't make simple washers that can finish a load of laundry quickly and don't have sensors that can break down. The delivery and installation of the new Maytag was quick and easy and I was excited to see how big the capacity was inside compared to my old washer. Unfortunately it went downhill from there when I started my first load of laundry. I was surprised to see that there is no option for the user to pick the laundry load size and it relies on the sensor. Not a big deal if you can count on the sensor to work but unfortunately they must of sent us a lemon. My old washer took about 45 minutes tops for a large load. The new Maytag took 3.5 hours on the first load. I had the settings set to "normal" and "regular" and "1 rinse." I tried another load with the setting changed to "light" wash to see if that would speed things up. The second load we turned off after 4 hours went by and was still stuck on the spin cycle. I don't know if this a thing with all newer washers but the spin cycle didn't just spin and drain the clothes but actually added more water while it was spinning. So the washer was just continually adding water, spinning, and then draining for hours. I am also not a fan of the locking lid. This model does not allow the user to open the lid after the start button is pressed which I find annoying because occasionally I will find an extra sock that fell out of the laundry basket that needs to get thrown in with the wash. When we cancelled the cycle, it also took several tries to get the lid to open again. Luckily, Best Buy was very helpful when we called to return the washer and we will have a GE arriving next week.

I absolutely despise this washer! Cycles take forever & its so noisy it sounds like the house is going to come down! It is balanced and still makes the whole house shake!
