It never washes rugs or comforters without getting off balance. The cap fell off and wont go back on. I miss my old washer!

Do not buy. Did not last for 1.5 years. Glad we had the warranty though Bestbuy. They saved us a headache.

It's hard to say what I dislike the most about this washing machine. We purchased this product with the thought of washing larger loads of kids' bed linens. WRONG! It can never, and will never, balance. It gets stuck in an endless cycle or filling and spinning, filling and spinning. Until the end of time. About 1 out of every 20 large loads will actually wash, rinse and spin as it is supposed to without issues. It's constantly asking you to "Clean with Affresh". It doesn't want you to bypass "Clean with Affresh". I will never "Clean with Affresh". At 2.5 years, the locking mechanism on the lid broke. Two days without a washer waiting for it to be fixed. Luckily we purchased the extended five year warranty. It doesn't put enough water into the basin to wash. I get it; its supposed to be high efficiency. I want LOW LOW efficiency. The least efficiency, if that means my clothes will actually get clean. The draw of the machine is the large capacity. It doesn't actually work when you do a large load, so it's not worth purchasing for that feature. Every cycle is like custom cycle. It saves the setting across the different modes so let's say if my son does a load and customizes it for his load of laundry, and I do a load after him using a DIFFERENT MODE (let's say he used quick wash and I used a regular), it saves HIS customizations, to every load. So if I don't check, I might be washing delicates on HOT.

Can’t wait for this to break down so I can throw it away! This is a horrible machine. Whoever invented this reverse agitation should be fired. This machine will ruin your clothes. The water level higher or lower is minimal. It really is all based on how it senses your clothes. I have tried everything. Washing only large items together, i.e. sheets and towels. Washing only small items i.e. socks, underwear shorts. I’ve tried doing the mixture of clothing. I’ve tried adding tennis balls or shoes every trick. The problem is that it never puts enough water in the machine and it ties your clothes in knots! Will destroy your clothing will stretch out your shirts will not allow you to use the full capacity of such a large machine because of how the water level is set. Maytag used to be a good machine and like I said this machine is Total garbage. The settings mean nothing as you notice almost no difference in the separate wash cycles you may choose. If you put only small items in it, it adds drops of water and then your clothes do not come out clean because it all machine tries to weigh it. Ties everything in knots! This cannot be stressed enough! Whether it’s your towels, your jeans, your long sleeve shirts this is a horrible machine. That reverse agitation is total garbage and the machine needs more water in it so the clothes can separate and move which this machine does not allow the cycle to do. As said at the beginning, I can’t wait for this thing to break down so I can throw it out, and I will never buy another Maytag again!

Spent more money because of the brand and size but it came back to haunt me. I had a LG for 5 years before issues started to arise. While this Maytag malfunctioned after 4 months of use. Maytag sent a local company to repair the unit but they needed to order a part which would take a week. After the week, they came by to install when they overlooked another faulty part. This continues for another 4 weeks. After buying a 900 dollar washer I have been doing my laundry at a Laundromat which sets me back 50-75 dollars a week. Matag won't send me another washer until the repair company deems the washer unfixable but the repair company can only change out parts. I'm stuck with the hunk of junk and Maytag will not do anything about it . This has continued to be a nightmare! Don't do it find another brand,by the way when I first bought this it because of the positive reviews. Sadly I should have trusted the negative ones. I wouldn't wish this on anyone! Especially those with bigger families like mine.

I have truly enjoyed my washer since purchasing it. It does make a noise at times.

Purchased this washer Dec 30, 2022. Worst buying decision of my life and I'm a lifelong Maytag customer. We hate this washer. Smart washer? What a joke!! Takes forever to run a load. Beats the clothes to death because it starts agitating without water while it senses the load. Water level doesn't even cover the clothes unless you over-ride the settings with Max Fill option and then it still doesn't fill the washer like the older units did. They're trying to force us to save water to the point that the washer stops functioning as a washer and starts destroying your clothes. Also, about once every two weeks or so, the washer needs to be cleaned and will not allow you to proceed with the current load until you empty the tub and a cleaning cycle has run. Terrible technology. Terrible product. DO NOT BUY A SMART WASHER of any brand.

In early 2020, we bought the comparable version of this machine, with 4.7 cubic foot capacity (model number was MVWB765FW3, after having decades of satisfaction from previous Maytag washers and dryers. This version, with the electronic control panel lasted all of 3.5 years, as we just replaced it (awaiting delivery) after the control panel went out. Maytag gave us no response to our issue and Repair Service basically told us we had to replace the machine or pay another $325 to replace the control panel. Definitely will never buy another Maytag/Whirlpool/Amana/Kitchenaid appliance again.

It gets jam/stuck/off balance pretty often. this requires user attention to clear the off-balance.

The first one worked great until it didn’t and so for the second one is working great

Only filled tub half full of clothes. The agitator goes back and forth which just vibrates the clothes, not moving them into the water which is barely in the bottom of the washer. Did a deep fill, still doesn't even cover the clothes in a half filled tub of dry laundry. Barely moves clothes so no real washing going on. The agitator turns in such a way between the wash and rinse that it wraps the clothes around the base of the agitator and pushes the clothes to one side so it can't spin out due to being offset. The rinse cycle just spins and sprays the clothes supposedly creating a rinse through as it spins out but it doesn't rinse them good. Clothes came out still smelling like body odor like they were never washed, not fresh at all, and still had same food smear spot on them. Then after 2nd day, the rinse cycle got stuck at 13 minutes and wouldn't stop spinning slow but no water was coming out and stayed at 13 minutes. I had to shut it down and do a drain and spin. The computer was very chinsy and the dryer kept saying giving a power failure error when the power button was pushed. I had the set 2 days and returned it. Very unhappy and to pay $1800+ ... you're better off filling your wash tub and doing it by hand. Can't believe these passed engineering. Seems too many companies are trying to go for all the extra advanced features when really we just want our clothes clean and fresh for a reasonable cost. Bring back the basics please, you can keep these!

I saw that this model had some firmware issues a while back. Make sure that you download the Maytag mobile app, connect the machines to it, and then go into the unit settings and update the software. This unit and a Maytag dryer had software updates available. Tap the power button to turn off the machine (with the power still plugged in) and the update should kick off. If it doesnt, wait a 2-5 minutes and try again from the app. It will be important for anyone who has owned this for a while to update!

Purchased this after my whirlpool was broke after only 4 years. Loved that this had such a large capacity, having a family of 5, we do tons of laundry. But... it only lasted less than 24 hours in my home after countless efforts and cycles to try this machine out. It took 20 minutes of off and on sensing and adding water before the wash cycle even started! I do multiple loads and dont have tuat kind of time waiting around for this machine to make up its mind if there is enough water in the drum. Dont get fooled by the large drum and promising technology. Run away from this and read the other negatives reviews before even considering to purchase!

Great in the beginning. 4 years later the washer is failing and sounds like a jet engine on the last spin cycle. Only used once a week on average. My condo has old maytags that are still going decades later, these newer machines just aren’t made to last.

Purchased 5 years ago. In that time, have had to call repair staff twice. Now it is no longer working, after scouring the web for troubleshooting and replacing 5 separate parts. These are not built to last, even when you buy one for $1000.

First off. Bought this at Lowe’s, not Best Buy. This thing is junk. Had it for two months and service had to come fix it. Worked for a few weeks and just broke AGAIN. Save yourself the hassle and don’t buy this or any other Maytag product. It’s poor quality and customer service is subpar.

This business of cleaning the machine is a waste of water and a waste of time. There is no built in notification when it’s time to clean this snowflake machine, only when you have your clothes loaded, the softener and detergent poured do you find out the machine won’t work until you run a cleaning cycle on it. I have had it with these prissy high maintenance jokes they call washers. Just bring back the hard working basic machines of the past that did liar after load for thirty plus years with no maintenance needed other than wiping it down from time to time.

The customer experience should have been considered in the design. This has a feel of "well engineered" but "poorly designed." Imagine you're running out to the gym with a long list of things to accomplish on a tight schedule. You toss in your clothes, hit start and leave. Unbeknownst to you, a few minutes later your washer has decided it needs to be cleaned first. So when you get back, you need go unload everythings and wash it with it's specific cleaner for an hour before you can finally start this chore. There is no way to skip, delay or cancel this process. It's just poorly designed. Skip it.

So far it's doing a great job. Wish the wash time was shorter but all in all it's a very nice machine.

We have had this washing machine for three years and the touch panel stopped working three weeks ago. It is now unusable . Thank goodness I was talked into buying the 5 year geek squad warranty.
