I bought 2 Portal TV units so I could make video calls to my 93 year old mother. However, Facebook wouldn't let me create an account for Mom because she doesn't have a mobile phone. I even sent them her picture as they requested. No response and then the account went from locked to disabled. So I'm returning both Portal TV units because they can't be used. My caution to any reader is to be sure your family members already have working Facebook accounts before you get a Portal TV. Most of the professional reviewers say "don't buy it" because of the way Facebook is run. I should have listened to them.

Wish I bought it sooner. It’s great for talking to family that also has Messenger. The TV version does NOT support Zoom. If it did I’d give it 5 stars. Zoom was added to all the other Portal devices a year ago, but still not added to TV version. I’m hoping it gets added at some point.

Really good devices for calls with your entire family sitting in your living room. The biggest issue would be that it kind of has a bad echo when more than 2 people are on the call. Also, sometimes, it gets really slow.

In a time where isolation is normal, and the usual holiday get togethers are unsafe the portal enabled us to share Christmas with our children and families. We actually purchased 2 portals as Christmas presents and they made for a much merrier Christmas. They are also wonderful for keeping in touch.

I LOVE the Facebook portal mini that I have so much that I decided to get the TV unit so everything would be bigger. However, it is much harder to work and especially hard to trouble shoot if there is a problem. I spent 2 1/2 hours yesterday on live chat and finally on the phone with facebook and they couldn't solve the issue. Still trying to resolve. Don't get me wrong, the portal device is the BEST thing ever for grandparents talking with their grandkids in other states. I love the interactive things like reading one of their stories or playing around with the special effects. It's just too hard to do it on a TV! Buy the units with the integrated screens!!!

Works great most of the time. Have had a few minor issues but these could be do to operator error. Sometimes the pictures are not the best quality. Not sure if it is the persons we are contacting, the time of day or something else. We really like the portal and being able to keep up to date with family members

If you would like an inexpensive device to video conference using your TV then this might meet the requirements. Camera quality is mediocre. App selection is limited. Video conferencing supports Facebook, WhatsApp, Zoom, and Go-to meeting.

Very good quality images even if the other person is on a cell phone network. Great for multiple connections to family at the same time. Having the alexa feature is nice too but not as full featured as an echo. Can't wait for more app integration... particularly if you could watch football with others across the country.

Good for video calls. Will get connected to TV seamlessly. However no other feature other than video call and very limited apps availability

I love the technology. I wanted to be able to really visit with my parents during Coronivirus, but there is room for improvement. Set-up was not easy at all, but the tech support was awesome, once I found it. The instructions did not link me to tech support. I had to find it on my own.
