The Current Best VR Gaming Device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Meta Quest 3 is a significant and immediately noticeable improvement over the Quest 2, which itself was a notable improvement over the original headset. For anyone who is wondering what the best entry-level VR headset (in my opinion, best VR headset period) is currently: it’s this one. You do not need to read further. If you’re looking for information on what has improved over the previous model and how that affects the experience, read on. The improvement is immediately noticeable when setting up the headset. With prior models, you were introduced into a lo-fi greyscale version of your play area. This functioned, but was disorienting and could occasionally be frustrating to use as the cameras seemed to deliver video on a slight delay from real-time. With the added cameras on the Quest 3, you are now greeted to a (albeit still lo-fi) color-accurate version of your play area with much more responsive cameras. The software itself is more intelligent, too: whereas before you would have to draw your own play area, the Quest 3 now does it for you. And quite well at that. This reduces the frustration inherent to the previous models when the Quest would occasionally lose your saved playspace data and you would have to re-draw it: when it happens here, the Quest will now easily replace it. The cameras’ precision allows for more accurate hand-tracking now, too, and while I’m still not a fan of using my hands in VR space as opposed to much more accurate controllers – I will admit that Meta has done a very good job on improving this aspect of the technology. This is probably because I do not use my Quest for work or to create a virtual office space: rather, I use it for gaming, and the increased precision makes for a marked improvement in games where precision is vital. Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, and OhShape are games where precision is vital for playing at the highest level, and the Quest 3 makes it easier than ever to ensure you’re aiming, swinging, and positioning exactly where you want to. The increased processing power makes these games look better than ever and I look forward to trying out Resident Evil 4 when I have some more time. The new controllers are nice, though I’m struggling to decide whether I feel like they’re an upgrade or more of a horizontal move for the device. There really is nothing wrong with them, they function just as well as the previous model (better with the improved cameras) and like the previous controllers, feel nice to hold. If you’re playing around in VR a lot with your Quest or Quest 2, I recommend getting the Quest 3. However, these improvements aside, if you’re not an avid VR player and you have the Quest 2, I wouldn’t say it’s necessary to rush out and buy this one. The Quest 2 is still a fantastic device, and while the Quest 3 is a significant improvement, it’s not world-changing, and the fidelity improvements are noticeable but not so massive that it makes the last generation look like a potato. What is clear is that the Meta Quest remains the best VR headset for gaming, bar none, especially at this price point. The ability to play wherever you want, free of cords and external sensors, is still outstanding. The library of apps and games is ever-growing, and because it’s backwards-compatible with everything released previously, you do not leave anything behind by upgrading your headset. I love my Meta Quest 3, and absolutely recommend it to anyone who’s interested in entering the VR space or has the spare money to upgrade their older Quest model.

Great VR from Meta!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this for a few days now and so far I’m extremely impressed. It was super to setup and get going. It offers many different experiences from apps to movies to full games! The headset is adjustable and is comfortable even for glasses wearers like myself. It fit nicely and I was able to quickly adjust the headset to fit. Family game nights are now even more epic. My daughter absolutely loves this and is constantly asking to play! I limit her screen time, but it’s fun to get on an app like the roller coaster game and each family member gets a turn! Side note, my 60 year old mother provided so much entertainment while she used this. She loved every minute of it! I have two negatives. The first is the sound. For the first 2 days I couldn’t even hear it. I can now hear it, but it’s faint. I understand why they don’t want to “blast” the option. I think you can get some earbuds and Bluetooth them. I’ll explore this option further. My second negative is battery life. I make sure the battery is fully charged when family game nights happen. Obviously we don’t want to play for hours, but I feel like the battery life will drop to 30-40% after playing for 30 mins. Maybe it’s the type of app or game we’re using? It’s not too much of a deal breaker, but I’d hope the battery performed a little better at this entry price mark. I really can’t wait to see what they’re able to do in the next 6 months with this device. I really hope to explore the full VR and mixed reality to the fullest! Pros: Quick loading Comfort even while wearing glasses Slight learning curve Upgradable headset Great improvement from 2! Controllers are comfortable Cons: 128 gb is a great entry Sound Battery life can be better Overall: So I recommend this product if you’re wanting to get into the world of VR. They’re releasing games each day and it’s just so fun to play with my family. I think the 128 gb is a great entry for VR if you’re not use to it. For those that are seasoned, you’ll probably want to explore the 512 gb option.

Quest 3
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had the opportunity to try out the Meta Quest 3, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! This virtual reality headset truly delivers an incredible immersive experience that is hard to match. First and foremost, the graphics on the Meta Quest 3 are outstanding. The visuals are crisp, vibrant, and incredibly realistic, which enhances the overall immersion. Whether I was exploring fantastical virtual worlds or engaging in intense gaming sessions, the graphics never failed to impress. The Meta Quest 3 is also incredibly comfortable to wear. The headset is lightweight and well-designed, providing a snug fit without causing discomfort or strain on the head. The adjustable straps and padding ensure a customizable and ergonomic experience, allowing for extended periods of use without any discomfort. One of the standout features of the Meta Quest 3 is its vast library of games and applications. With a wide range of genres and experiences to choose from, there is something for everyone. Whether you're a fan of action-packed adventures, puzzle-solving challenges, or immersive storytelling, the Meta Quest 3 has you covered. The ability to download and play games directly on the headset without the need for a PC or console is a game-changer. The user interface of the Meta Quest 3 is intuitive and user-friendly. Navigating through menus and selecting games or apps is a breeze, even for someone new to virtual reality. The built-in controls are responsive and easy to use, adding to the overall seamless experience. While the Meta Quest 3 offers an incredible VR experience, there are a couple of areas where it falls slightly short. Firstly, the battery life could be improved. Although it lasts for a reasonable amount of time, I found myself needing to recharge it more frequently than I would have liked, especially during longer gaming sessions. Additionally, the available storage space on the Meta Quest 3 is limited. With the growing size of VR games and applications, it would be beneficial to have more storage capacity or the option to expand it with external storage. In conclusion, the Meta Quest 3 is an exceptional virtual reality headset that provides an immersive experience with stunning graphics, comfort, and a wide library of games and applications. While there are minor areas for improvement such as battery life and storage capacity, the overall experience is truly worth the investment. If you're looking to dive into the world of virtual reality, the Meta Quest 3 is a fantastic choice! Note: This review is based on my personal experience with the Meta Quest 3 and may vary for different individuals.

THE Vr Headset
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve never owned a VR headset and was in the market for one. After countless hours carefully researching, everything pointed to this Meta Quest 3. I bought it in anticipation of it being a top-of-the-line headset, and I was not disappointed. Granted, it’s my first headset, so there’s nothing I can compare it to, but with that being said, this is the best and only headset you’ll need. The graphics are insane, the entire experience is beyond immersive, and the overall feel of the headset feels excellent. My only complain is since you get lose the VR world, the battery life does feel like it flies by. Apart from the battery life (which can be fixed with a (expensive) accessory), this is THE VR headset.

NEXT LEVEL: The Future is here!!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THIS IS THE FUTURE!!! I was really blown away with the Quest 2 I bought a couple years ago and the pass through on the Quest 3 was intriguing but not a big buying trigger for me...I was more interested in the 30% clarity bump I read about with the Quest 3.... so it was that I kind of impusle bought the Quest 3 and WAS TOTALLY AMAZINED!!! 1. The passthrough that turned my living room into a fluffy alien shootout game was jaw dropping...I saw my couch, and chair and a beautiful alien landscape as I shot the lasers through my walls and shot holes into my ceiling to see space.... I MEAN SERIOUSLY!!!! It is novel to a degree, but it really gives you a sense of where this tech is going and again.,..IT"S THE FUTURE. The pancake lenses with tech higher resolution are very very noticeable!!! I shoot 360 video and play them back in vr to sit on a beach from last summer's vacation and the improved video quality really takes me back there! The unit is also soooo light compared to the 2 that I forget I am wearing it and the field of view is much better as well! I don't get VR sick probably due to the higher refresh rate and higher resolution! THEN I got Arizona Sunshine 2....I fell in love with that game the first time and the second one is a VR masterpiece!!! The physics, the sounds and of course the dog Buddy! I love that little guy.... he really tears into the zombies in such a fun way!!! The graphics are crazy... I can read labels on a bottle of BBQ sauce in the game...unbelievable! Then the pass through again...Lego Brick tales, What a captivating game...I could not help but think of the scene in the movie "HER" where the main character is playing the video game in his living room... immersed. Folks we are almost there and maybe then some! I cannot believe the leap in tech in such a short time with META! I cannot wait to see the META Quest 4, 5, 6 ect! I can't believe this has not blown up yet! I think it really will be the next tech explosion like the cell phone was around 2k. AMAZING! On a side note...It's also a lot of fun to play my old quest 2 games like pistol whip in higher res. Can't wait to get my hands on Asgards wrath 2!!! META is totally winning VR and rightfully so.

Kind of a toy, but really cool!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Meta Quest 3 is a cool device if you have the right intentions for it. Do you want to play VR games? Get the larger storage capacity version because games take up a lot of storage. Do you want to do virtual workouts? Then you'll need the Elite Strap to hold it onto your head because the included strap is just some elastic fabric bands. Do you want to connect to your computer and use the VR PC functions? You'll need a USB-C cable because it doesn't come with one. The after-purchase sales are what you really need to consider when thinking about any VR headset. As a device, the quality is there. I've used it with my computer to check out Google Earth VR and that is an amazing experience. There are plenty of YouTube 360 videos to enjoy as well, and the resolution is exceptional. I wear glasses and there is a way to adjust it to accommodate wearing your glasses, plus you can get prescription lenses to fit these as well for a reasonable price. I feel like VR has room to grow regarding content, so it will feel a bit like a toy, but the potential is there, and new content is always coming out as more creators get onboard.

If You’ve Waited For The Right Time, It’s Now.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been waiting and watching for years before finally buying into VR. While the technology always interested me, it just never seemed like it was far enough along to justify the very expensive cost to buy in. For whatever reason the Quest 3 finally felt right for me, and I have not been disappointed. The MR functionality is very much gimmicky at this time, but it’s clear the companies want to support it moving forward, so I expect with time the utilization will expand. The freedom in the Quest VR experience can’t be rivaled. Unlike what I’ve seen from PCVR headsets your not tethered to a computer, and while a link cable is optional if you wish to play PCVR titles, many of those titles will likely be available right in the stand alone Quest store. However keep in mind that with the standalone experience you are giving up what would be far better performance on most of those games if you used them through Steam VR. But to me, as someone who’s first experience with gaming was the Sega Genesis, and I’ve been gaming ever since, the trade off in performance is more then acceptable for the freedom offered by standalone VR. But the great news is that I always have the option to link to my PC if I wish to see better performance or play a game that isn’t available on the Quest store. On the note of quality versus the Quest 2, which is notably much cheaper then the Quest 3, I tried my friends Quest 2 a few days after getting my Quest 3, and I wanted to get right back to my Quest 3. The lenses alone are so much better then what you get with the Quest 2. The full color pass through, as opposed to Quest 2’s Black and White Passthrough does not look as good as it does on YouTube videos, so temper your expectations there, SERIOUSLY, but it’s a nice feature for grabbing a drink while playing, or quickly checking your phone. I still find it much easier to pull up the headset if I need to read. The games that do offer an MR experience are fun, and that feature should improve with time. If you’ve never experienced VR the headset will initially feel fine, and you may even wonder why all those YouTubers kept complaining about comfort, but as the last couple of weeks have gone on, I’ve figured out why they complained. You will start to get headaches from the strap pushing on the back of your head. You will start to break out and get redness around your eyes from the fabric face pad. And your neck will start to hurt from fighting the forward weight on your face. My suggestion, go on Amazon and order the set of controller covers, and the silicone face cover. It’s been worth the money. And while cheap head straps can be found, I chose not to cheap out when ordering mine, though I would suggest skipping on the Meta head straps as I’ve heard better straps can be found for cheaper. Overall VR isn’t for everyone, if you’ve never played before you will probably get motion sick, don’t push yourself, when you feel it coming on, step away, and come back tomorrow. Do that everyday for as long as it takes. Mine passed in about a week, and any further symptoms have been rare, though it happens from time to time. And if your not a big gamer, I don’t think your round to find much enjoyment here. It’s a different type of gaming experience, but most of the games are attempts at replicating what’s popular in flat gaming. So if you don’t like it there; I don’t know that VR is going to change your mind. The uses for this technology outside of gaming far exceed what it can do for gaming, and I’m more than excited then ever to see what that future holds. I would suggest this to anyone who thinks they will enjoy it. But please monitor your kids in VR. The VR world can be toxic, and they will be exposed to things you probably would prefer they not be. More often then not, the worst influences they’ll experience will be other kids in game lobbies. I’m shocked at how foul mouthed and disrespectful many of the kids I’ve interacted with can be. As an adult; it can truly ruin your experience at times, to have some child shouting profanities at you for the entirety of your 10-20 minute game, and not all games offer easy access to mute these accounts. Just be careful.

A great improvement, battery life takes a hit
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Meta has made another solid, stand-alone VR headset. I had the Quest 2 and decided to upgrade to the Quest 3 due to the better lenses, higher resolution and faster displays, better controllers, and improved environment passthrough. The Quest 2 was already a solid piece of tech for its price. It worked well as a stand-alone unit and when hooked up to a PC for VR gaming. Almost everything that needed improvement in the Quest 2 was added to the Quest 3. First, the lenses are no longer curved. They're flat giving you a better look at the higher resolution; higher refresh rate displays in the headset. You can also fine adjust the position of the lenses instead of using 1 of 3 preset widths. The lenses, displays, and lens adjustment are all a solid upgrade over the Quest 2 and, to me, would have made the price of the Quest 3 worth it. My eyes didn't quite line up with any of the Quest 2's widths, I was able to dial in exactly what I needed with the Quest 3. The controllers have also improved. The unit still needs direct line-of-sight with them. You can upgrade to the Quest Pro controllers if needed, but these work fine. I have had less issues with my hands floating at my side because the headset lost sight of them. The cameras on the side of the headset seem to reach further than they did on the Quest 2. There is no longer a loop around the controllers, they're open. Still just as comfortable to use as the older controllers, but they're less susceptible to bumping on things due to not having a loop. Each button is touch sensitive and haptic feedback has improved. I have noticed better feedback in older games as well as Quest 3 optimized ones. The SoC in the Quest 3 has been upgraded and it shows. The unit boots faster, content installs quicker, and graphics have improved. It's still not PC VR level, but it's really good for a stand-alone unit not tethered to anything. Quest 3 games run at a higher resolution with more detail, higher resolution textures, and new lighting. This is truly a generational update. Passthrough has also been drastically improved. I can use my PC or phone without taking the headset off. I need to move my arms so I can read text, or adjust my head, but it's possible. It's nice that I can use my headset and pop into the real world to see color and detail without taking the headset off. I'm not going to be a glasshole and wear my Quest 3 out in public, but passthrough allows for AR games. It probably won't be as good as the Vision Pro's passthrough, but that device starts 7X higher than this. The built-in speakers are surprisingly great. I thought the Quest 2 wasn't bad, but the Quest 3 is a large improvement. The speakers are more directional and pipe audio more into your ears. Other people can still hear what you're listening to, but audio quality is better. Highs are audible, mids are present, and there's a hefty amount of bass for open-air audio. Directional and virtual surround sound audio isn't bad either. The included head strap is better than the one with the Quest 2. It's more comfortable, offers more adjustment options, and the clips holding securing the strap on the side of the headset are much better than the Quest 2's strap mount options. The strap clips will not be a point of failure moving forward. I still replaced the default head strap with a 3rd party one. I didn't want to pay Meta's price for their elite strap or elite strap with a battery. That does bring up one point: battery life. Meta quotes it as being the same as the Quest 2 but, in my experience, it's less. Games I was getting 2 hours of use on my Quest 2 are cut down to 90 minutes on my Quest 3. It's not bad, but it is a reduction. The other issue is how much power the Quest 3 consumes. I have plugged in 65W battery banks only for my Quest 3 to die while the battery bank still had 50% left. I'm sure a firmware update can fix it, but it shows that the unit consumes too much power. I have even tried directly plugging into a 65W charger only for it to die while being used. My last complaint is with the cooling. The fit on the Quest 3 is better and the cloth cover over the eye padding is more comfortable, albeit not as hygienic. But the cooling fan in the Quest 3 is easily audible and fires up almost immediately. The improved audio experience of the Quest 3 isn't enough to cover up the cooling fan. I recommend using a pair of headphones or earbuds (wires or with a USB-C receiver) with the Quest 3. Overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Reduced battery life seems to be a theme with newer tech. Processing power increases while battery tech can't keep up. Still, everything about the Quest 3, aside from battery life, is a marked improvement over the Quest 2. Graphics, the lenses and displays, controllers, comfort, and audio are all better. PC VR is also better due to the higher quality lenses and displays. I can highly recommend this if you want a solid stand-alone VR headset and a good PC VR headset. It's still less expensive than many PC VR headset and can act as a stand-alone unit.

Perfecting everything great about the quest 2
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the quest 3 really doesn't do anything the quest 2 can't do (at least at this time) it does everything better. The lens are clear with huge sweet spot. The increased resolution is very nice. The hand tracking works so much better to the point its a real option. Controller tracking has been excellent as well. The mixed reality stuff is neat and just being able to do some basic stuff without taking the headset off is great. For example doing the setup you don't have to take the headset off to get the code/setup on the phone app to link the headset to your account. The other day I did dishes at the sink with huge 50" screen in front of me watching a movie. Pass though isn't perfect by any means but its miles ahead of the quest 2 and its good enough to be usable.

A huge improvement
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The changes this generation are pretty massive, and improvements in every way. Quick list of things that make it better than the Quest 2: + While the weight is still comparable, the headset doesn't stick out from your face as far, and feels better balanced because of it. + Lenses are bigger and clearer, the difference is HUGE and, to me, justifies the upgrade by itself + The screen is noticeably higher resolution, still 120Hz capable + The IPD adjustment is now a dial, with a broader range of settings instead of just being 3 positions + There is eye relief adjustment! Bring the lenses closer to your eyes for better FOV, or further if you wear glasses + AR games are actually fun now! Much better than Quest Pro, with the added depth sensor. + The native games run much smoother while looking better, thanks to the more powerful onboard graphics processing + The wifi is significantly faster, averaging about 1,800Mb/s on local network speed tests with a high-end wifi 7 router (about twice as fast as Quest 2 averages), making the PCVR experience much more stable so far + The controllers actually track just as well without the rings, and they improved the battery compartment by added a button you need to press to unlatch them All this having been said, there are a couple things to note: - The stock headstrap and facial interface are both improved a bit from the last generation, but not by much. You're still going to want to invest in upgrades for both. I put a Kiwi battery headstrap and AMVR facial interface on mine and went from being able to wear it for maybe 10mins without too much discomfort to over an hour. - For those coming from a Quest Pro: My opinion is that the Pro is still the better device from the perspective of comfort (when modified). Also, the screen on the Pro gives much better contrast and slightly better colors than that in the 3. If you do mostly PC VR, the Pro might still be the better choice in ways, but the 3 is just unquestionably the better options if you plan on using the headset standalone.

Best all around VR headset around
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better resolution, crystal clear lenses, better stand alone performance, better PC VR performance albeit through Virtual Desktop particularly with wifi 6(e), 40 series video card using AV1 decoding. Head strap is manageable but certainly could be better (Bobo VR seems to be the pick of the litter). Pass through is cool and can be useful but in its early stages as is MR generally speaking. Not the best at many things, but very good at everything and unbeatable at this price point. Overall kick butt and worth the upgrade from Q2 for me, but depending on your use case, it might not be if you have a Q2. If it’s your first foray into VR, this is the one as of 10/23

Where Imagination Meets Reality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am absolutely blown away by the Meta Quest 3! This virtual reality headset is a game-changer in every sense of the word. The level of immersion and realism it offers is nothing short of mind-blowing vs my Meta Quest 2. The Meta Quest 3's design is sleek and comfortable, allowing for long, uninterrupted gaming sessions without discomfort. The ease of setup and use is impressive, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of their level of tech-savviness. The library of games and experiences available is incredibly diverse and constantly growing, ensuring there's something for everyone. The graphics and performance are top-notch, delivering stunning visuals and fluid gameplay. I can't wait for the Stranger Things VR experience! One of the standout features for me is the wireless freedom it offers. Being untethered from a PC or console makes the experience truly liberating. The intuitive controllers and precise tracking add to the overall sense of immersion. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or a VR newbie, the Meta Quest 3 is a must-have. It brings your favorite games and experiences to life in ways you could never imagine. It's an investment in endless entertainment and a gateway to exciting virtual worlds. As well as meeting new people on Meta Horizon Worlds or Big Screen. In conclusion, I can't recommend the Meta Quest 3 highly enough. It has transformed the way I game and experience digital content. If you're considering diving into the world of virtual reality, this headset is the perfect choice. Trust me; it's worth every penny! Much more slimmer and less heavier in my opinion from the Meta Quest 2. Five stars for the Meta Quest 3! It deserves every one of them.

Amazing product

The pancake lens, better resolution, and even the mixed reality makes the quest 3 the quest 3. I know people don’t like the battery life but honestly if you get a battery strap or even a big powerful power bank, you could player over the 1 and half to 2 hours of game time it gives you. If you are wanting to pick up a new vr, go for it. Even if you are upgrading from the quest 2, this blows the quest 2 out of the water. Well done

Worth Upgrading From Quest 2
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a Quest 2 I wasnt sure I would really see much of an upgrade but there are plenty of changes both large and small that make this well worth the upgrade in my opinion. The new lenses greatly reduce the depth of the headset and how far it hangs off your face. This brings the center of gravity closer to you and significantly reduces the percieved weight of the headset. I found the quest 2 and the elite strap with battery to be pretty comfortable but this headset and the elite strap with battery are extremely comfortable and I almost never feel fatigue from wearing it anymore. Combine all that with the new screens and wider FOV and that makes this by far my favorite headset as of right now (Though I do still wish they were OLED for the perfect black levels, maybe next time) Another change, although minor, that I find extremely convenient is the addition of the charging pins on the headset. This makes it possible to use both the elite strap battery and the headset charging stand at the same time which was not possible with the quest 2 since the usb c port was the only way to charge it. The headset performance itself is also improved, games that are designed for this headset look better overall and even the ones that arent now run without any lag or hitches. I was a little worried about controller tracking because of the lack of tracking rings but I have found it to be just as good if not better than the quest 2 and the haptics definitely feel better as well. Lastly, the AR features I havent used much but they work fairly well. I have seen a few good use cases but I think a lot of them are more of a gimmick. The passthrough upgrade that comes with this is very useful though, I can easily walk around and do something without needing to take the headset off with the full color passthrough.
