Don't buy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stick with the quest 2. The passthrough is all fake. It records on the external camera. What you actually see is the same as the quest 2. Way too much glitches.

A really nice upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive owned and used many VR headsets, from Quest one and two, both PSVR headsets and now this. So far my experience with it has been absolutely stunning. The lenses and displays are honestly worth the upgrade in my opinion, everything is super clear and sharp, the sweet spot is MASSIVE. Comfort for the stock headset is better than the Quest 2 but it still could be better, its not more comfortable than the PSVR 2 by any means however thats part of the trade off for going all in one. The controllers feel super well made, they feel like a much higher build quality than the quest 2 controllers. Tracking is supurb, throughout my time playing beatsaber and pistol whip ive never once thought that i missed a note because of tracking. Unlike the PSVR 2 tracking is very consistent and good, often times with that hedset i would lose traking when playing certain games often getting me a bit nauseous. The mixed reality aspect is really good so far however there’s not many games that really use it, all of them mainly feel like tech demos. There’s so much more i can go into but that would make this review super long so im just going to leave it to this. The Quest 3 is an amazing upgrade to a good headset, tracking and screen quality are absolutely amazing and my immersion is better than ever.

Incredible VR System!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Meta Quest 3 is a powerhouse VR system. I’ve previously owned the original Oculus so I was curious to see how much better the Quest 3 is comparatively and I can say without a doubt that there is a BIG difference between the two. The initial setup was simple and straightforward. Using the Meta Quest app and a QR code I was up and running within about 15 minutes. The first thing I noticed was how crisp the new headset is compared to the original. The original Oculus wasn’t bad per se, but the new Quest 3 is just crystal clear. The one thing that bugged me about the original was it felt like I never really was able to dial in the eyesight perfectly, it was always something I was fiddling with. With the Quest 3 its set it and forget it as I never had any issues with adjustments. Another thing I’ve noticed is the Quest 3 seems to fit better around my nose, creating a more immersive experience and less light leakage. The room scan detection has improved dramatically from the first Oculus as well. You had to manually define the space before and now the Quest 3 will automatically scan, and it does a good job detecting furniture and giving you a better VR space to play in. The controllers are more comfortable than the original Oculus and fit great in my hand and I instantly felt right at home with them. I had no problem pulling up my Meta account and loading all my previous games. Beat Saber felt more responsive, and I could immediately tell that the speakers are much better in the Quest 3. SuperHOT’s performance feels much improved as well. Games like the Climb 2 are so immersive it gives me vertigo. But the coolest improvement in my opinion to the Quest 3 is the use of mixed reality by blending VR with your surroundings. I played a table tennis game called Eleven VR and it felt like the table was actually in my room, it was so cool! The possibilities are endless for blending Virtual reality into your space. There’s a piano teacher game that allows you to play a virtual or real keyboard and practice learning piano. There are so many ways to experience what Quest 3 has to offer that I feel like I’m just scratching the surface. My wife downloaded the Supernatural app and has been using it to workout. Youtube VR is spectacular, they even have a Cirque De Soliel show that puts you right into the middle of the show or an app to board the International Space Station! Overall, I’m super happy with the Quest 3. For the 500-dollar price tag it delivers a premium VR experience that is vastly improved over the original Oculus. I would wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone who hasn’t tried VR or for someone who had the original and is wondering if it’s worth the upgrade. Go buy it today, you won’t be disappointed.

Buy them elsewhere.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy these at Best Buy. They don't honor the "Free gift card" offer. We bought two for gifts, but BB would only provide 1 Free Game Card (as advertised).

Surprisingly well done, sound is lacking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried the mixed reality game, First Encounters, which I found extremely entertaining, allowing me to walk 2 different areas shooting these creatures that were also hiding behind furniture. That was great, more games like this, and I'm all for it - that beats my PSVR2. However, I didn't get the Quest for gaming (though I will obviously get a couple anyways, but the majority of my VR library exists on the PSVR and PSVR2). I got the Quest 3 for movies and productivity. My 2 favorite things right now Remote Display and Bigscreen Beta, and Peacock VR. Remote Display allows you to work off your PC/laptop onto a GIANT screen, while still able to see your surroundings. I don't have room for a complete computer workstation setup, so I just work off a laptop, but now I have a large screen which makes looking at excel documents A LOT easier. I don't even have to use the controllers, because I can simply use the hand tracking. Now the hand tracking does have a bit off a downside(at least for me) - since my laptop is in front of me, the system Quest bar is also at the bottom, so depending how I place my laptop, I will sometimes accidentally trigger an app on the bottom, because my hands are at the bottom typing! The solution (for me) is to bring my laptop closer to me, so the system bar is above the keyboard. You also need a well lit room for the hand tracking. Can you watch videos on youtube through a browser? Yup! You sure can! Of course the problem is the sound is going to come from the PC and not the Quest, so you'll need to connect to PC via headset/bluetooth to go immersive. I'm currently writing this review while wearing the Quest 3 on a giant screen, while typing off my laptop. I cannot stress enough how great it is to finally have a giant screen to work off. I use the passthrough when I'm in this, so I can clearly see everything around me, including my own watch/phone. PSVR2 does have a passthrough viewing mode, but unlike the Quest 3, you still can't move freely around because you're wired, and it's hard to read your phone/watch. Bigscreen Beta, is basically a meeting room/lounge/movie theater where you can rent movies (including 3D movies), and watch along with others. This is what I did with my PSVR, originally - just watch movies / 3D movies (I own a few) in the PSVR. The downside of the PSVR was you're wired to PS4/5 and it drifts after a while, and of course - it's heavy! The PSVR2 fixes that a little as it is not as heavy- but the Quest 3 is the lightest, and most comfortable to use. The screen inside the Quest 3 appears to be much better than the PSVR2. I had to make a lot of adjustments to the PSVR2 when I first got it, and it still looks a bit blurry, but the Quest 3 immediately showed me very clear non-blurry texts and images. Finally, Peacock VR, you can watch anything from the Peacock catalog (which I tried to watch Prince Of Darkness), but the sound...the sound is not good, you can hear everything outside (and I have an a/c and air purifier going on). I tried plugging in 2 different wired over the year headsets, but the sound is too low. That's a real problem for me, that means I can't fully enjoy movies unless I make everything quiet in the room - which is not going to happen. The other big disappointment about this, is that it's from Meta, who even though I opted out of emails, have decided they need to bombard me with emails daily, including one that suggested I buy The Meta Quest 3 512GB. What? What? You know I already own one, that's how you got my info, and now you're telling me I should've bought a better one? STOP SPAMMING ME META!! Pros: Lightweight Mixed Reality looks great Do not need to use controllers for movies/productivity apps Feels comfortable (with the elite strap, not the stock) to wear for long periods of time The visuals inside are very clear to read Cons: 128GB is not a good size, the base size should be 256GB, and then a 512GB option The stock strap should've never existed, Elite Strap should be stock Requires light to use hand gestures, but also so it can see the room your in clearly Sound is terrible for a noisy environment. I don't know why wired headsets are set so low, that the max is barely audible, which is bad for when you want to fully immerse yourself in a movie Not enough streaming Apps - we need Max, Showtime, Hoopla, just bring all the apps!!! My entire movie digital library lives in AppleTV!
