Good upgrade for existing VR headset owners
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Came from the rift s, and was waiting for a good upgrade. With that being said, most of my games are within pcvr. The wireless display between the PC and quest 3 have been great. It's really nice not being tethered. The battery does drain since I'm pushing it to stream 120fps, but I don't play too long anyways, so it's fine for me. In my experience it lasts for about 2 hours before needing to charge. I don't like the default strap it comes with. I had to purchase some 3rd party strap alternatives for it to be comfy for me and straps for the controllers. I really enjoy the pancake lenses and being able to see in color through the passthrough. The mixed reality concept is cool, too. Overall, I feel like the quest 3 is worth it if you do play VR games for a long time, and not just have it being a novelty you buy once and let it rot. If that's the case, I would recommend the quest 2 since it's way cheaper and in my opinion the best entry level VR headset there is.

Read this to know why it's worth it
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Quest 3 is a huge improvement over the original Oculus Quest and a significant step up from Quest 2. There are three important improvements that the Oculus 3 bring to the table: sharper picture quality, full color camera pass through and mixed reality (MR) capabilities. At a price tag of a couple of hundred dollars more than the Quest 2 but significantly lower than Quest Pro, the Quest 3 actually feels like a bargain. It’s a great deal especially if you’re familiar with the VR and MR world. Just several years ago a mixed reality device like the Magic Leap will cost you thousands of dollars and it didn’t even offer useable apps beyond some small demo. I tried Magic Leap and was impressed with the demo and I can’t help the same feeling and impression as I was trying the Oculus Quest 3 for the first time. The MR sealed the deal for me to get Quest 3. Is the MR in Quest 3 a top-quality feature? Well of course no at this price range, the MR visual feed is not sharp enough and not able to reproduce colors faithfully. However, it is a functional mixed reality device meaning the potential for immersing oneself in the world of MR is definitely there. The hardware supports the kind of experience one would expect from mixed reality. And clearly this is not an Apple Vision Pro where both video and audio performance of the device seem to be top notch despite it costs 7 times more than Quest 3. So, in that sense, Quest 3 seems to be a great deal for those who are curious to experience mixed reality and not just VR. Unless you have deep pocket, I don’t think the Vision Pro will give you 7 times more performance and fun than what Quest 3 is able to give you right now. Besides getting an update in the chip sector, the Quest 3 is slimmer and lighter than its predecessors. However, if you wear glasses you can feel some strain in your nose area, which makes prolong uses of the device uncomfortable. There may be better strap solution out there to make the experience better. Most people who buy the Oculus Quest will generally use the device for three main purposes: 1) General entertainment, 2) Games, and 3) Mixed reality. For general entertainment, Quest 3 is not bad at all. There’s a number of video goggles out there that cost more than the price of Quest 3 and while those goggles may give you better visual quality, however, the value proposition of Quest 3 beats them all. This is a fully functioning VR and MR headset complete with the whole ecosystem of apps. My favorite is Youtube VR. There’s a lot of content as you would imagine from Youtube, ranging from regular 2D videos, 3D to 360 videos. The coolest thing is that you can actually see regular 2D videos in mixed reality. Somehow video quality from Youtube VR is actually better than Netflix and Prime videos. Since Quest 3 uses LED panel, video quality seems a bit dull and black level is pretty bad. There’s no true black meaning dark scene appear a bit lit and not totally black. During a scene in ‘Saving Private Ryan’ that I play from the Netflix app, serious color bleed problem appears from fire. Though that resolution appears sharper in Quest 3 than its predecessors, watching a movie from Netflix and Prime is like watching movie on a very large TV or cinema in HD resolution. Therefore, if you don’t own a large TV at home, Quest 3 is probably a good gadget for you to watch movies. However, if you already have a large 4K TV, you’d probably prefer to watch movies there as the difference in terms of image quality is actually pretty significant. The spatial audio is actually a different story. The volume is loud enough and the spatial effect is quite convincing. The audio is actually pretty good for playing games and watching movies. The headset gives you an audio out port so that you can connect your favorite earphone/ headphone to the headset. I don’t really need to connect a headphone unless I want to listen to music, and in which case, I’d prefer to use my phone for that purpose. For games and watching movies, the built-in audio is good enough. As for games, Quest 3 has quite a sizeable library of VR games and a small library of MR games. There’s a lot of options out there, however, these games are not cheap. Also, you can connect your Quest headset to a PC and play PC VR games, which is very cool. VR gaming experience is significantly better if you’re coming from the original Quest headset. The experience is smoother and graphics quality is noticeably better. Now on to the mixed reality. I think there’s a lot of potentials and my favorite is watching Youtube in MR. You can resize and position the screen in MR, which again is very cool. Quest 3 integrates the MR experience pretty well so I can see that more and more MR apps are going to come out in the future. I wish that some of the games in the VR library be updated to offer MR experience, but we’re just gonna see if that’s gonna happen. So, is the Quest 3 worth it? If you have the cash and been looking to get into the world of VR and MR, yes. If you’re coming from the original Quest or even Quest 2, it’s a worthy upgrade. I had some criticisms in this review but I feel that the value proposition of this gadget far outweighs those criticism. For that reason, I still rated this gadget a five star.

Great Leap Forward for Metas best VR yet
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a quest 2 this piece of tech is a great upgrade in the VR space. For the money I would highly suggest getting one. Pancake lenses and adjustability make for a greater field of view paired with higher resolution, it looks fantastic. No perceivable screen door effect. Still like looking through googles but not as bad and I love it. As a standalone headset it does its job and is impressive, where it really shines is also being probably the best bang for your buck PC be headset. Airlink works amazing to play higher end games from you pc wirelessly (oculus app steam etc) Virtusl desktop works great and has more customization as well. I will never buy another wired VR headset at this point, it’s that freeing. Even if specs may be better one some others. Standalone option to PC Wireless, no lag, higher rez and hasn’t fogged up once this thing is fantastic. Knocking it one star for the AWFUL basically painful cheap head strap included. You will want to get the elite strap or a cheaper alternative after looking at some reviews. Check out BoboVR M3 if it’s in stock.

Great Mixed Reality Headset
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Truly excellent piece of hardware. The mixed reality is really well done, the controllers are responsive and it is comfortable to wear. Battery life could be better, but the ability to create any size monitor for work or game play anytime and anywhere you need it has drastically expanded my work capacity and play comfortability. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to have adaptable monitors for work, or looking to have alternative environments for WFH or play.

Everything is better
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great upgrade from the 2. The passthrough is great and the resolution is better. Everything is just better. It's lighter, smaller, better sounds, stronger processor, even the default head strap is better though still needing a better head strap. Another thing that alot of people don't know is that this works now outside. I was at my backyard and I was playing no problem. But I have heard that you're not suppose to be using it outside because it hurts the IR sensors. Over all this is totally worth it to buy. But if the 500$ price tag is too high for you then there is the rumored Quest 3 Lite. Might want to try that one.

Not perfect, but a major upgrade from the Quest 2
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Quest 2, being a mature device and with the hardware unlocks with graphics and processing, is bested by the Q3 in its early development phase. Resolution, pancake lenses, FOV, sound, performance, size, ergonomics, controller and hand tracking accuracy, room scanning, passthrough camera resolution, raw hardware power, and MR capability are significant improvements. The MR on the Q3 is good, but not great, yet convincing. However I tried the MR games that would play on the Q2 and it was absolute trash by comparison. The room is gray and a highly grainy environment and it cannot be called Mixed Reality by any stretch. I also compared the quest link clarity via the quest link cable, and it was significantly clearer and buttery smooth with my 4070 ti. No stuttering, ghosting, and less banding. I can say that my Reverb G2 is ever so slightly clearer, but it's a pain to use I probably won't use it anymore. I love the Quest 2, but I recommend buying the Quest 3 128. In a year, the Q3 will be fulfilling more of its potential and the Q2 will be barely chugging along and hobbled by feature and hardware limits. Also the Q2 will still have to use more storage space to accommodate the new texture updates to major titles already on the Q2, while still using the old textures. The Q2 has or will plateau shortly, even if Meta will continue supporting it. The Q3 is the next generation with major enhancements coming in the near future. That is what you stand to lose for $200 less and risk buyers remorse down the road. The Quest 3 is the best headset and worth the upgrade if you have the Q2 already. There's also all this talk about Apple beating Meta, but it's $3500 and the amazing experiences are highly curated to a select few. The Q3 is here today. It is certainly not perfect, but it's likely to be the best and affordable VR/MR stand-alone headset for some time. My one personal gripe is the controllers are even smaller and I have big hands.

A Game-Changer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Game-Changer: The Quest 3 from Oculus has undeniably raised the bar for virtual reality experiences. As an avid VR enthusiast, I've had the pleasure of immersing myself in its world, and it's nothing short of extraordinary. Firstly, let's talk about the design. The Quest 3 boasts a sleek and ergonomic design that enhances comfort during extended gameplay sessions. The lighter weight and improved balance make it feel like a natural extension of your body, allowing for more immersive experiences without discomfort. But the real magic lies in its performance. Powered by cutting-edge technology, the Quest 3 delivers stunning visuals and seamless gameplay. Whether you're exploring vast virtual landscapes or engaging in intense multiplayer battles, the graphics are crisp, clear, and incredibly lifelike. The increased refresh rate ensures smooth movement, eliminating any hint of motion sickness and enhancing overall immersion. One of the standout features of the Quest 3 is its expanded library of games and experiences. With a diverse range of titles catering to every taste and preference, there's never a dull moment. From adrenaline-pumping action games to captivating storytelling adventures, the possibilities are endless. The addition of social features also adds a new dimension to the experience, allowing users to connect and interact with friends and fellow gamers in virtual spaces. Moreover, the Quest 3 offers unparalleled freedom with its untethered design. Gone are the days of being tethered to a PC or gaming console. With built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, you can enjoy VR gaming anywhere, anytime, without being confined to a specific location. Whether you're in your living room or out in the backyard, the world of virtual reality is at your fingertips. Overall, the Quest 3 sets a new standard for what VR gaming can achieve. Its combination of sleek design, stellar performance, diverse content library, and untethered freedom make it a must-have for anyone looking to experience the future of gaming. If you're ready to embark on an unforgettable journey into virtual reality, look no further than the Oculus Quest 3.

Worthy upgrade from Quest 2
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful device. I purchased it as a replacement for my Quest 2. Immediately you’ll tell the difference moving off the Fresnel lenses to Pancake. The visual clarity is far superior, as well as the increased resolution. Smaller, more ergonomic controllers (much like the Quest Pro which I also own) have allowed for a more comfortable long-term gaming session. Battery life is also an improvement over the Quest 2 and increased processing power and improved pass through cameras mean it’s better than the Quest 2 in every way. Worth the upgrade for sure.

Greatest VR Headset Of Our Time
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The meta quest 3 does live up to the hype and expectations set by the quest 2. I’ve found the mixed reality way better than I thought it would be. The visuals are also way better with the new lenses plus actual space for glases. The fov also now has a slider which works quite well adding for better visibility. I still would recommend getting an extra headstrap as the one included still causes head pain quickly. But overall I think its a noticeable uprgade compared to the quest 2. I also want to add I did try out the link cable and can comfirm their is way less compression.

A definite improvement over the Quest 2!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a Quest 2 to Quest 3 and it is a major improvement. The Quest 2 is great, but the Quest 3 is even better in every way, especially with the improved passthrough features and hand track. The visual clarity is better than other headsets I've used from Samsung, Pimax, and the Quest 2. The pancake lenses definitely help with the visual fidelity, the colors and blacks are very good despite not being oled screens. The only downside I've faced so far is the battery life still giving me about 2 hours of playtime, but having a battery strap should help with that.

Almost Perfect
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to the Quest 3 from the Quest 1. The graphics are awesome with the high resolution and pancake lenses. The color passthrough is also nice. Don’t expect anything crazy like it being crystal clear as it can be grainy depending on lighting. Despite this passthrough is a nice feature to use while navigating menus. The biggest disadvantage for this headset is battery. I primarily play PCVR through a link cable and have found my PC does not keep it charged while I am playing and it will die slightly slower than standalone. If you use airlink or virtual desktop this issue can be remedied through using a portable fast charger. On a final note I personally find the comfort to be pretty good even with the stock headstrap but you will feel it on your face over time. If this is an issue then I also recomend getting an aftermarket strap.

More than just gaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my introduction to VR and it's amazing! One of the reasons I purchased this is to play Piano Vision, which is a Mixed-reality piano game that has really launched my Piano learning. That game aside, the web interaction is incredible, other games are immersive, and mixed reality is really cool! My only complaint is the battery life is shorter than I would like. I know VR is only getting better, but the Meta Quest 3 is already pretty great!

Amazing tech for the price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Asus, Samsung Odysey Plus. HP Reverb and Hp Reverb G2. They all used Windows Mixed Reality. After trying the Quest 3, I don't even use the others any more. I do love the oled screens of the Odysey, but the darks of the Quest 3 are good enough and all the other features make this headsety absolutely worth the money whichever version you buy. I use mine mostly for stationary sitting down use because I am old. This headset lets me read everthing on my computer with ease, even with my cateracts. There are too many features that I like to even begin to list here, so I'll sum it up with what is important to me. I have seen a review that says there is a slight screen door effect. I don't see any. The resolution is slightly less than the Hp Reverb g2 but I cannot tell the difference. I would say this headset is on par with the G2 in viewability as far as clearness and field of view go. The sweet spot is pretty much EVERYWHERE. I notice only a small difference by adjusting the ipd control. The flat panel screens take credit for that. As far as battery life, its as good or bad as all the reviewers say. For me, its fine because I use it plugged in to the computer most of the time. I don't beleive it ever dropped below 50 percent charge and ususally stays around 75 per cent. And I am talking about continual use up to 8 hours of work time, since I do work on my computer most days. The other complaint I have heard is the Headband. I think the faceplate is a bigger problem myself. The cloth one that comes with the unit does start to feel a bit like sandpaper after a while. Good reason to take a break, however I bought the silicon replacement for 40 bucks and as far as I am concerned the faceplate and headband problems are solved. The adhereance of the silicon to the skin allows you to keep the head straps looser and thereby providing a comfortable fit. With this one extra addon, it has made the Quest 3 pretty much just what I needed. I don't really have any complaints. Pretty amazing tech for the price.
