Huge Upgrade Over The Quest 2

Comfortability I had a difficult time trying to find a good position for the headset with the soft strap. It seemed to put a lot of pressure on my forehead. If I relaxed the top band, the headset would tend to slide down too far. And if I tightened the side straps, that would put too much pressure on my head. I don’t have an issue with Quest 2. So I’m not sure why the Quest 3 is more uncomfortable. Using the elite head strap resolved these issues and is very comfortable. Usability The main 3D interface is nice and compact and easy to navigate. You can view the main interface in either small 3D space, or large 2D space. Most of the controls in the menu are easy to find. And there are a plethora of options in the settings menu to customize your experience. The controllers feel pretty good (not too light, not too heavy). And without the top ring from the Quest 2, they feel more balanced. Performance Overall the performance is really good. The menus are snappy. I did experience some frame stuttering in a few games. So I can’t fault Quest 3 for that. Everything outside of apps and games never had any performance issues. The color pass through is a huge HUGE upgrade from the Quest 2. It’s probably one generation from perfect clarity. Video The video quality is outstanding. I’m not sure if I ever noticed a screen-door effect anywhere in the main interface or games/apps. Everything looked crisp and responsive. The lenses that are being used in the Quest 3 are a nice upgrade to the previous generation. I never noticed any haloing or god-rays. Audio I have no idea how they’re able to get such amazingly rich sounds out of those small little openings on the head strap. But whatever they’ve done, it’s amazing. Voice audio is super clear. Music sounds complex and rich. The bass is perfect. Overall amazing Audio. So much so, that I never felt the need to use headphones. And the volume level can be raised pretty high without any noticeable hissing/cracking. Head//Controller/Hand Tracking No complaints here for the Head/Controller tracking. I was able to get a pretty big range of motion from the controllers and not have the headset lose track of them. The Hand Tracking is pretty decent too. And they added a really nice feature when navigating the main menu with the hands. When you go to press a button, it “clicks” into the button to show you’re pressing it (it sticks there slightly to avoid jittering). It’s really nice. Boundary, Room Scale & Room Mapping The room mapping feature was almost a game in itself. I spent a good 30 minutes mapping my room because I was so impressed with how well it did. The longer and closer you look at walls, corners, edges, etc, the more detailed of a mapping you get. I do wish you could define half walls. But other than that, the feature is pretty awesome. And it allows AR games to take full advantage of arbitrary room setups. Battery I don’t tend to use VR headsets longer than an hour or so at a time. So I can’t really comment on battery performance. Opinion Overall I’m very impressed with the Quest 3. It definitely feels like a generational leap over the Quest 2. The quality of hardware, smaller form factor and added features really set it apart from all other AR/VR headsets. There were only a couple of things I had problems with, but I feel like those aren’t going to affect everyone. If you’re looking for an amazing AR/VR experience, you’re going to be hard pressed finding anything better than this at the moment.

The customer service I received from the store, the chat service and the calling service was WAY below anyone’s expectations. The product was supposed to be delivered next day, here we are 6 days later and still no product. This is a reflection of Best Buy as a whole.

Doesn't fit with glasses. Either fits too tight, or it's too loose and falling off. Very distracting when you can still see what's going on around you from the gaps by the bridge of your nose

The facial interface adjustment was broken out of the box and caused a scratch on my glasses because it slid forward and wouldn't hold. Are you kidding me?

Stick with the quest 2. The passthrough is all fake. It records on the external camera. What you actually see is the same as the quest 2. Way too much glitches.

Do buy this if you have kids. It does not fit their head, and completely frustrating to try to get it to work. It’s impossible to adjust so that it works for them. Lots of tears.

    A really nice upgrade

Ive owned and used many VR headsets, from Quest one and two, both PSVR headsets and now this. So far my experience with it has been absolutely stunning. The lenses and displays are honestly worth the upgrade in my opinion, everything is super clear and sharp, the sweet spot is MASSIVE. Comfort for the stock headset is better than the Quest 2 but it still could be better, its not more comfortable than the PSVR 2 by any means however thats part of the trade off for going all in one. The controllers feel super well made, they feel like a much higher build quality than the quest 2 controllers. Tracking is supurb, throughout my time playing beatsaber and pistol whip ive never once thought that i missed a note because of tracking. Unlike the PSVR 2 tracking is very consistent and good, often times with that hedset i would lose traking when playing certain games often getting me a bit nauseous. The mixed reality aspect is really good so far however there’s not many games that really use it, all of them mainly feel like tech demos. There’s so much more i can go into but that would make this review super long so im just going to leave it to this. The Quest 3 is an amazing upgrade to a good headset, tracking and screen quality are absolutely amazing and my immersion is better than ever.
