For what it is this thing is really good. But I’m still not sure if vr is for me. I messed around with it a lot after initially getting it, mostly got it for MR. But due to the poor camera quality I stoped doing that after a while. The battery life is not has good and I would hope either. I really wanted to be able to watch movies on this on a huge screen, but it doesn’t really have enough juice to last that long, and it gets uncomfortable. All that said though it does do what it sets out to do very well, and it worked well with my pc for larger vr games.

As someone who’s used both the Quest 2 and dabbled with PC VR, I was genuinely excited to get my hands on the Meta Quest 3. After a few weeks of regular use I have been blown away by the higher resolution and the comfort of the design.

      Hi Ryououki,

We're so glad to hear you're finding the Quest 3 easy to use!

We definitely hear you on the battery life; to keep those sessions going longer, many users opt for the Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery, which can add up to 2 hours of extra playtime. It also helps balance the headset for a more comfortable fit!

      Thanks for the feedback! oculus

MQ3, an excellent leap in standalone VR (NO FB!)

FIRSTLY BEFORE START, NO FACEBOOK REQUIRED!! That’s right!! NOOOO FACEBOOK is neither required nor needed to use the Quest 3. You can link them if you’d like or you can just simply use your email address to sign up and go full solo. I was hesitant to ever buy any Meta Quest but was just so happy to see FB wasn’t needed. Now onto my review. I was pleasantly surprised by the Meta Quest 3 when I first turned it on. I’ve owned a PSVR for the PS4 Pro for many years now and have highly enjoyed it. While the Quest 3 does not exceed the visuals and fidelity of the psvr it does a great job of introducing you in the world of VR and AR/MRA. I purchased a few games as it had a good Christmas sale going. Asgards Wrath is fun and intuitive. Assassin’s Creed does nice giving you a good view of the world of AC. Music games are a wonderful flashback to Guitar Hero and the like as I have really missed that era. All without the need for extra plastic peripherals. And Mixed Reality games such as First Encounter which is free coming with the device showcases how clean and clear the front cameras are to the outside world and in. Battery life is what you’d expect, 2-3 hours. I use the headset on my bed the most because it can be hard to move from time to time standing up for myself and other medical conditions. In this case I have a long 10ft cable I currently use for my tablet and phone. Works well with my quest. I think it’s a 30 watt charger brick. It’s able to keep my device charge as I use it at the same time whenever I’m playing music games with my arms or watching YouTube VR and other video streaming apps. NEGATIVES: so if you’ve never used an Oculus Rift S, Steams VRs or PlayStation VR 1 and/or 2 you’ll have absolutely no idea how narrow the Quest is in comparison. For that reason you’ll be fine. If you have used the others as I have then it’ll instantly be obvious. The Quest is a little more akin to looking through binoculars. The immersive-ness isn’t as “you’re inside another world” as the psvr. It will take awhile of you actually playing the Quest 3 for it to hit as your brain adjusts to the differences. LCD LENS- the lens are lcd. When you’re in psvr and a game is loading or has a black background you’ll feel it. You’ll feel the depth and you’ll see what looks like the device being off (when loading) because of psvr OLED tech. It’s beautiful. The lcd on the Quest 3 can break immersion at times when it does use things such as the darkness in horror games. On the other hand the brightness is great and provides a nice view and color for anime and brighter media. And lastly just a few things to touch up on. The psvr had a straight view, but looking around you can see the lens abit blurry (if you’ve played it you’ll know what I mean). On the oculus rift 2 it has that “door” effect. The Quest 3 has none of these issues. It’s clean, it’s clear and has no window door effect nor blur around the edges. My only wish is for the next models to use OLED. It would make it sooooooo much better. I’d also like for a bigger view. The controls work perfect. The switching between VR in view and your outside surroundings is a quick switch. Cameras are clean. It can record anything you see and play which is a plus. It can track your hand movements. And it can also track via just pointing through your headset view and tapping the Volume button when it notices your controls or hands aren’t in view (switches to a white dot reticle inside your view). It can cast to your phone and chromecast. Records and screenshots automatically sync to your phone app. I have yet to try the pc air sync yet but I’ve read that it works well. And as for sound…..the Audio is excellent! I couldn’t believe how loud and bass heavy the built in audio was. All in all, a must buy for anyone wanting to get into VR. It is head and above the Quest 2. I’m pretty impressed even after owning a psvr and Rift S for years. Yes, it won’t match those but for what it is doing it truly is very, very well. And by the by, I have the 512gb model and currently used about 200gb which is more than the 128gb model. If you plan to use a few games 128 is enough. If you’re like me and are very crazy with downloading many games, videos (quest 3 has videos you can actually download to the storage and even upload to library for offline viewing which takes up space) AND recording sessions then go 512 as you can not add an sd card or any storages. Asgard Wrath 2 by itself is very large and THE largest game. 40ish gb. The other games are all less than 10gb. Assassins creed I want to say was between 10-20gb. So if you’ve been holding out, now is the time. And no Facebook? Highly, highly recommend the Meta Quest 3! (Thank you for reading and apologies if I may be out of order as I’m typing as I’m thinking. But I hope it helps someone’s decision as I used my personal experience thats often further in difference from a typical, casual user)

Had the Quest 3 for a couple months now and the mixed reality experience is genuinely impressive. The passthrough cameras are a huge leap from the Quest 2, making it practical for blending virtual elements with your real room. Game library keeps expanding and the standalone performance is solid. Wish the battery lasted longer during intense sessions, maybe 2 hours at best, but it charges fairly quickly. Overall a great standalone VR headset.

This is a huge improvement over the Meta Quest 2 which I also own. I was shocked when I first turned it on and the passthru came into view. I had no idea that I'd be able to see my real surroundings in such detail. I can read my phone and watch with the headset on. Games are faster, smoother. The resolution is much better. The fit feels better even with the default strap. I'm waiting on a BoboVr M3 which should provide and even better wearing experience. The pancake lenses are sooo much better than the lenses on the Quest 2. This unit will require upgraded external batteries. The external supplemental batteries you may have bought for your Quest 2 are not going to last very long on the Quest 3 and may not work at all. Quest 2 headstraps will not work with the Quest 3 without modification or conversion kits.

Love this "work/toy"! I am an artist and this thing is a game changer! I use an app to project my art or images onto canvas and walls for murals! Saves me so much time when being able to sketch directly through the image. And of course a fun toy with all the games, puzzles and immersion apps. The Meta Quest 3 is easy to use and so much fun! So glad I got one!

Little pricy compared to the 3s. Other than that, the build quality is SOLID. Battery life is ok, get a few hours out of it per session, battery pack is definitely a must to extend session times. Stock strap and view port is cloth. Good quality, does get a little warm. Silicone upgrade would be worth it. The joy-cons are great, easy to use but definitely get some upgraded straps. The wrist strings that are built in are way too flimsy. They would survive a decent amount of drops, those joy-cons feel that built. Can do so much more than just gaming, if you’re on the fence about it, just get it.

I use my Quest for mostly productivity improvement by using virtual displays for my laptop. The screen quality is great, not perfectly crisp but definitely good enough to read text, code, and so design work. It is a great way for me to take my workstation on the go with me and have the ability to have a multi monitor setup anywhere. Recommend upgrading the head strap for long uses but traveling with the cloth strap is nice.

Alot more comfortable than the quest2. Runs alot smoother and has gear resolution, the safe boundaries are alot more intuitive. The only complaint i have is the spacer that is keeps your face away from the lenses tends to pop out when putting it on, it's easy to pop back in just a tad annoying

If you are only interested in PCVR save yourself a little money and get the 128GB model, but if you are looking to see what standalone VR can be like, the quest 3 is the new kid on the block, and has all its bases covered, good enough pass through cameras to actually navigate a room and understand what you are looking at. (Better lighting better pass through experience) More power than previous headsets including the Pro, released less than a year ago. Depth sensor that helps with setting up playspace and makes the pass through experience even better as you actually have a sense of distance unlike some headsets flat passthrough. Included strap is still bad, less bad than the quest 2 but still bad. And battery life is just shy of 2hours on average. It’s also more power hungry, so you will want a higher output battery pack than you used with the quest 2. Something with PD 3 that can output better than 18 watts is the way to go if you want to meaningfully extend your battery life. New controllers are great, no more rings, but the pro controllers would be better with their self tracking. Pancake lenses make a world of difference, I’ll be using this over my other headsets unless valves deckard comes out with the same kind of lenses and similar or better screens. Might jump ship for that. But this exists now, and that’s an unannounced unconfirmed datamined pipe dream.

Amazing Headset but the huge flaw is Battery drain

I am disabled veteran who is very much into VR/AR/MR scene. This headset is definitely the best of them all yet in the short description. Itdoes everything better, for the lower price than Q2 Pro version. I could only point out two flaws in its design. No upper area dedicated tracking cameras (why oh why Meta?). You wouldn't think it is trivial matter to this space magic, but look at the games like The Thrill of Fight and notice such epic titles have no pure hand tracking in it. Why? That's due tothe fact that Q3 cameras are designed (at least at currecnt update) for controller tracking algorithms and not for hand tracking to save costs. If they added upper part cameras like on quest 2this would of probably had been the first true hands only vr headset in history with everything already going for it besides the flaw No.2 that hits it at 1 star. - The battery life on Quest 3 is really bad due to how much energy is required for those amazing graphics and amazing new features. The internal batter of Q3 at most will last you about an hour and half and about the same length with highly overpriced Meta elite strap, at about the same length as intense gaming on Quest 2 with no external battery. The best solution for this is unfortunately have multiple external swappable batteries or something like Bobovr headset that can swap external batteries on the fly.

I've had 2x oculus rift PC VR headsets over the years and this was my first standalone headset purchase. I honestly only purchased the headset because of quest link and being able to use it as standalone or PC VR. The visuals for this headset are far superior to that of the rift that I owned, it looks absolutely gorgeous and very clear. The new pancake lenses are 1000% percent better than the old style lenses. The head strap that comes with the headset is complete garbage and very uncomfortable so purchasing a new one is pretty much necessary... Overall I'm happy with the purchase but a bit disappointed I'm the performance of PC VR via quest link... It definitely needs some improvements. Biggest disappointment for me was the pass through on the device. It is really cool the things you can do in AR but the pass through does not look nearly as good as they make it look, I'm lower lighting the image is extremely grainy but in will lit room looks a little better but still not that great. Also there's warping in the image which looks pretty bad at times. Wish the cameras were higher quality as it would make the experience much better If I were to go back I probably would have invested in a new PC VR headset instead but overall I'm fairly happy with the purchase.

Bought this for my husband and it more than delivered. He's been able to take small breaks throughout the week to decompress right at home. This makes golfing so much more affordable and easier for him too. Even the kids get to play with it. One bummer is it takes a ton of battery so play time is limited. There is a portable battery pack you can buy to extend play time.

upgraded from a quest 2, great product, love the color passthrough and much clearer screens. Is it night and day not really- you can tell its better but not leaps and bounds, it does run cooler, it feels lighter on my head and the controllers are not clunky large things like the quest 2 had. so far so good, would recommend the quest 3s to anyone wanting to get into the VR movement, maybe tell them quest 3 only if they have the money to blow. the only downside i have is the strap- it is a terrible mess for the price of this thing i expected better. 1st thing is buy a new strap- i got the battery swappable bobavr so it never dies. this strap on a 3s ok but not the full price of this thing. I also think $500 is a lot for this, at $400 i'd say its a great buy, $500 it's worth it if it had a better strap. Overall I love my headset. Great buy- wish it wasn't $500 plus a strap. I play a few Mixed Reality games (the inclusion of batman was the big seller on this purchase) and PCVR games wirelessly- mostly shooters and racing sims.
