    AMAZING MIND BLOWING augmented reality

The VERY FIRST time I put this headset on in the store to try it out, I was hooked! What was amazing is the 3D palpability and depth to what you see in front of you. The first time I queued up the Everest climb documentary, the first scene I felt my balance almost give out, and was reaching for the imaginary rock cliffs on the side of the trail! I am looking forward to using this for flight sim games for the real three-dimensional depth of field and immersion that it will give.

      Hi RANDYP,

Thank you for sharing your amazing experience, we appreciate you taking the time to describe how mind-blowing the augmented reality felt for you! It’s wonderful to hear how immersive the 3D depth and palpability were, and how the Everest climb documentary made you feel like you were truly there.

The headset is designed to deliver realistic three-dimensional visuals and depth of field, which enhances immersion for documentaries, simulations, and games. This technology allows users to feel more connected to the environment, whether it’s reaching for virtual cliffs or experiencing flight simulators with lifelike realism.

Great headset but does not interface with Mac

Great headset. I’ve tried the Quest 2 and the Quest 3 and the image quality on the Quest 3 is much better. The Quest 3 is clear (not blurry) across nearly the entire field of view, as opposed to the Quest 2 which gets extremely blurry anywhere except right in the center of the view. But there is one major flaw - Meta does not have a client for interfacing with Mac! They had one previously but no longer! This means that you cannot connect the headset to your Mac to use VR features of Mac applications or games. Of course, the Meta Quest 3 works great as a standalone device (you don’t ever NEED to connect it to a computer to play games or whatever), but the device’s potential is limited if you have a Mac system. For example, I wanted to use the Quest 3 for my flight simulator on my MacBook Pro with M2 chip but cannot do so because both wired and wireless interfaces do not work with Mac. However, if you want to use your Quest 3 as a monitor for your Mac, this is actually supported via Remote Desktop, although it is very laggy and will give you a bit of a headache after a short use. The difference is that mirroring your screen from Mac to Quest is supported, while using your headset to directly and natively control the applications your Mac is running is not supported. On the other hand, if you’re on Windows, everything should be supported.

    Outdated battery powered controllers :(

While I have so so so much fun playing beat saber I have a big nitpick to pick at. Battery powered controllers. Man I do not miss those at all whatsoever and here I am getting ready to play beat saber to find that my left controller has been completely drained while not in use? while my right controller just jumping down by 10-20% from barely even opening the game? I hate that I'd have to end up spending an extra $60+ just on getting rechargeable batteries when simply developing the controllers to be rechargeable was on the table. Imagine having the ability after use to charge your headset then after that's full charging your controllers and being ready to go without spending extra money. A feature I will always applaud Sony for keeping in their newer consoles. Now controllers aside I really appreciate the upgrade in picture quality and performance opposed to the Quest 2. It's like eye candy seeing the fluidity of my swings in Beat Saber. I'd def recommend to someone but if they're willing to go the extra mile of buying rechargeable batteries because buying new batteries every couple of months is just not it.

If you are only interested in PCVR save yourself a little money and get the 128GB model, but if you are looking to see what standalone VR can be like, the quest 3 is the new kid on the block, and has all its bases covered, good enough pass through cameras to actually navigate a room and understand what you are looking at. (Better lighting better pass through experience) More power than previous headsets including the Pro, released less than a year ago. Depth sensor that helps with setting up playspace and makes the pass through experience even better as you actually have a sense of distance unlike some headsets flat passthrough. Included strap is still bad, less bad than the quest 2 but still bad. And battery life is just shy of 2hours on average. It’s also more power hungry, so you will want a higher output battery pack than you used with the quest 2. Something with PD 3 that can output better than 18 watts is the way to go if you want to meaningfully extend your battery life. New controllers are great, no more rings, but the pro controllers would be better with their self tracking. Pancake lenses make a world of difference, I’ll be using this over my other headsets unless valves deckard comes out with the same kind of lenses and similar or better screens. Might jump ship for that. But this exists now, and that’s an unannounced unconfirmed datamined pipe dream.

Amazing Headset but the huge flaw is Battery drain

I am disabled veteran who is very much into VR/AR/MR scene. This headset is definitely the best of them all yet in the short description. Itdoes everything better, for the lower price than Q2 Pro version. I could only point out two flaws in its design. No upper area dedicated tracking cameras (why oh why Meta?). You wouldn't think it is trivial matter to this space magic, but look at the games like The Thrill of Fight and notice such epic titles have no pure hand tracking in it. Why? That's due tothe fact that Q3 cameras are designed (at least at currecnt update) for controller tracking algorithms and not for hand tracking to save costs. If they added upper part cameras like on quest 2this would of probably had been the first true hands only vr headset in history with everything already going for it besides the flaw No.2 that hits it at 1 star. - The battery life on Quest 3 is really bad due to how much energy is required for those amazing graphics and amazing new features. The internal batter of Q3 at most will last you about an hour and half and about the same length with highly overpriced Meta elite strap, at about the same length as intense gaming on Quest 2 with no external battery. The best solution for this is unfortunately have multiple external swappable batteries or something like Bobovr headset that can swap external batteries on the fly.

Bought this for our son. He absolutely loves it. We love it since it does make him get up and move. He is sore from playing games and that is better than just sitting down playing X Box. The only thing that is not so good is that it only stays charged for 2 hours.

The headset its self can be great, and overall a great experience. I do think things can be taxing for longer play sessions due to the shorter battery length, sweat-issues due to material, and balancing of the headset. But those things can be solved with aftermarket parts. Otherwise, good choice with great screens :)

      Hey Rosalia, Good day!

Thank you so much for dropping this feedback. We are absolutely thrilled to hear you’re loving the stunning screen quality and having an overall great experience with your standalone headset! Hearing that energy from our community is exactly why we do what we do.

We completely hear you regarding the balance battery life, and sweat accumulation during those longer, high intensity gaming sessions. Your comfort is our top priority, and we want your time in virtual reality to be completely seamless.

To help optimize your setup for those marathon sessions, you might want to check out the Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap with Battery, which counters the front-heavy feel by evenly shifting the weight to the back of your head while doubling your playtime! For the sweat issues, pairing it with a silicone or breathable fabric facial interface makes cleanup a breeze.

Thank you again for your incredible patience and for sharing your journey with us. Keep exploring, and happy gaming! oculus

I've had 2x oculus rift PC VR headsets over the years and this was my first standalone headset purchase. I honestly only purchased the headset because of quest link and being able to use it as standalone or PC VR. The visuals for this headset are far superior to that of the rift that I owned, it looks absolutely gorgeous and very clear. The new pancake lenses are 1000% percent better than the old style lenses. The head strap that comes with the headset is complete garbage and very uncomfortable so purchasing a new one is pretty much necessary... Overall I'm happy with the purchase but a bit disappointed I'm the performance of PC VR via quest link... It definitely needs some improvements. Biggest disappointment for me was the pass through on the device. It is really cool the things you can do in AR but the pass through does not look nearly as good as they make it look, I'm lower lighting the image is extremely grainy but in will lit room looks a little better but still not that great. Also there's warping in the image which looks pretty bad at times. Wish the cameras were higher quality as it would make the experience much better If I were to go back I probably would have invested in a new PC VR headset instead but overall I'm fairly happy with the purchase.

Alot more comfortable than the quest2. Runs alot smoother and has gear resolution, the safe boundaries are alot more intuitive. The only complaint i have is the spacer that is keeps your face away from the lenses tends to pop out when putting it on, it's easy to pop back in just a tad annoying

The headset works great as advertised, and is probably the best for the money. However, limitations and common problems that typically plague VR headsets are readily apparent here. Wearing it hurts after a while, and the exercise apps/games really wear out your neck with the weight of the device. Battery life is disappointing, but enough to watch a movie. Any longer is painful to wear anyway. Looking forward to improvements in the future.

For what it is this thing is really good. But I’m still not sure if vr is for me. I messed around with it a lot after initially getting it, mostly got it for MR. But due to the poor camera quality I stoped doing that after a while. The battery life is not has good and I would hope either. I really wanted to be able to watch movies on this on a huge screen, but it doesn’t really have enough juice to last that long, and it gets uncomfortable. All that said though it does do what it sets out to do very well, and it worked well with my pc for larger vr games.

Stepping up from a Rift S and the difference is enormous. I also briefly owned a HP Reverb and I would say that the quest 3 is still a substantial upgrade. Very happy with it so far. In terms of price/ quality, it is definitely the best headset on the market. The build quality is great, it's comfortable, excellent clarity and although I still don't think the passthrough is quite good enough for a legit mixed reality experience, it's still a big step forward. I'm also using this with PCVR games over the wireless link and it's worked great! Just make sure you have a good router and fast internet.
