Sadly necessary, but it does make it better

The stock interface is some sort of canvas that’s quite irritating on the skin. So to rectify it, you have to spend another $40 for a non-fabric interface. (in addition to grips for the controllers and head strap to alleviate headaches.)

Fits fine for most people

It probably works for most people people even if it is overpriced . It would not fit my face, I experienced light bleed on the sides and especially under the nose. I got a custom molded interface from Oblikdesign which fit my face perfectly.
