Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the excellent gameplay, overall performance, and well-executed controls of Metroid Dread. Many appreciate the engaging story, exploration, and action-packed nature of the game, while some find the difficulty to be a positive aspect. Criticisms include concerns about certain boss encounters, the price point, and the limited presence of music. Some players also felt the game was a little too linear and that the EMMI zones became repetitive.

This is the very first Metroid game I’ve ever played and I gotta say, playing this on the new OLED switch (handheld) is awesome!! A great game with plenty of action and challenges to just kick back and have fun playing!!

    My Most Anticipated Game Ever

Metroid Dread has been a project circulating the rumor mill since 2006, with early rumblings of a new 2D Metroid for the Nintendo DS. Over the years, it became one of those many gaming myths of things that were just not meant to be. So when I say I lost my mind at Dread's reveal, you best believe I had never felt that level of pure, unhampered hype in my entire life. I have tried my best to keep my expectations in check, but after playing the demo, I am sure the rest of the game is going to be a modern masterpiece and probably the best Metroidvania ever made. I am waiting for a time when I can binge this game, which is now a few weeks away, but I have a feeling the wait will have been entirely worth it. So, yeah. Buy this game please. It's incredible.

very good game, been playing metroid since the nes but i wish they wouldve made it longer, i felt it was too short. also music couldve been better as last installments that wouldve made the game much better.

It's a fantastic addition to Metroid lineage. The music is a little subpar and nowhere matches the ambiance of the other prime games, but the core gameplay is so silky smooth that it's a real pleasure to play.

Great new entry into the Metroid franchise! Similar to the other games in gameplay and difficulty, but still feels fresh on the Switch. I would recommend to anyone who wants to try out a great 2D platforming game.

For the first time, my got a different game in the last 15 years. He is always a fan of Mario and all similar games related to it. He saw Metroid in one of this friends place and insisted to get it, as it seem to have challenging levels. Good game for teenagers, but as I have vertigo, I cannot play for a long time due to flashes and sudden movement of the camera or action scenes. Else it is a great game. Love it to watch my son play. He is absolutely involved in it. I am used to play games like Prince of Persia, Tomb Rider, God of Wars etc. Games with guns are my least preferred due to my condition, but Metroid again persisted me to play action games with guns and shooting involved.

Amazing game. Better than its predecessor. Game play is smooth. Can be challenging for some but we don’t want it easy. Fun and fully of secrets to discover. Wished it was a bit longer with more bosses.

This game feels like an super updated version to the 2D Metroid franchise. Adds in some new abilities, and feels silky smooth running on the switch. Pretty difficult at times too which is nice.

Great Metroid game. Reminded me of the SNES version. The hardest difficult was just hard enough to keep you trying without it feeling impossible. It’s all about timing. Highly recommend

Finally a challenging nintendo game for the hardcore audience. Game runs beautifully, but really shines on the switch oled, with deep blacks and poppin color.

    Too Dark On Non-OLED Switch

The game itself is a compelling return to form for the Metroid 2D series; the atmosphere is eerie and mysterious, the combat is quick and tense (when you learn to parry properly) and the story is presented well through cutscenes and environmental story telling techniques, blending modern and old school styles into one cohesive package. My only gripe with this game is that the picture is too dark/dim on non-OLED model Switches in handheld mode. I still own an original 2017 model Switch, so when I went from docked to handheld mode the picture was noticeably darker and dimmer than it seemed it should be. Even turning up the brightness to maximum barely helped the picture appear bright enough on the system's screen. Since this issue is not present in other games like Smash Bros. or Luigi's Mansion, it leads me to believe that this game was designed more so with the OLED model Switch in mind, leaving the game to appear dimmer on older models. So if you are like me with an older Switch, know that you may have similar trouble being able to see the game in hand-held mode.
