About this product

Join intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran in her first new 2D Metroid story in 19 years. Samus’ story continues after the events of the Metroid Fusion game when she descends upon planet ZDR to investigate a mysterious transmission sent to the Galactic Federation. After a harrowing encounter with a living Chozo—a race previously thought to be extinct—she ends up deep below the surface of the planet. The remote world has become overrun by vicious alien lifeforms and chilling mechanical menaces. Samus is more agile and capable than ever, but can she overcome the inhuman threats stalking the depths of ZDR?. Face off against unrelenting E.M.M.I. robots. Once DNA-extracting research machines, the imposing E.M.M.I. are now hunting Samus. Tensions are high as you evade these E.M.M.I. to avoid a cruel death while finding a way to take them down. Find out what turned these robotic wonders into the scourge of ZDR and escape with your life. Feel Samus’ power grow as you gain maneuvers and abilities. Parkour over obstacles, slide through tight spaces, counter enemies, and battle your way through a dangerous world. You’ll acquire new and familiar abilities as you traverse the many environments of ZDR. Blast multiple targets with the new Storm. Missile or use the Speed Booster to dash and break through walls. Return to areas and use your new abilities to find upgrades, alternate paths, and a way forward. Explore the sprawling map, evade and destroy E.M.M.I. robots, and overcome the dread plaguing ZDR. New modes let you ease into ZDR, experience true dread, or take on a boss gauntlet. If this is your first time sprinting and shooting as Samus, the new Rookie Mode increases health gained from items and decreases damage from bosses. Bounty Hunters looking for a true challenge can face the new Dread Mode, which can be unlocked if the Hard Mode is finished. Complete the game to unlock Boss Rush and fight Samus’ most formidable foes one-after-another to try to get the best time possible! A new Samus amiibo figure featuring her suit from Metroid Dread and an E.M.M.I. amiibo figure are available in a 2-pack set. Scan the Samus amiibo for an extra energy tank to increase your health by 100; additionally, the Samus amiibo can be tapped again to receive health once per day. The E.M.M.I. amiibo grants Samus a Missile Plus tank, increasing her missile capacity by 10; additionally, the E.M.M.I. amiibo can be tapped again to replenish some missiles once per day. Amazing

Got this game as a gift and couldn’t recommend it enough. Brings Metroid back to its 2D roots but on a horrifying way. Be prepared to feel dread as the EMMIS chase you. Truly one of the funnest 2D platformers of all time.

Metroid is back with great 2D classic action

Awesome side-scrolling action. Challenging at times but still fun. A good mix of exploration and cool boss fights. Definitely worth it for a Metroid fan or anyone looking for a good side-scroller. There is a lot to like about this game. My one criticism would be a lack of direction for the player. It can take a bit to learn where the next objective is sometimes. Still a good time though and would recommend as a buy.

    Love it!

Great entry into the Metroid series. If you're a fan, you don't want to miss this. Very reminiscent of the SA-X moments of Metroid fusion

  • will it make me feel tsuyoku

    Yes

  • Is there any added benefit to pre-ordering?

Honestly no unless you want that specific pre order item which most times suck anyways. Other than that if you’re thinking you’re going to get a copy on the day off you might be disappointed since they tend to run out even though you’ve pre ordered it.

  • Will this game be any fun? I am a newcomer to the Metroid series.

There's a gameplay showcase on the official nintendo youtube channel so i suggest you check that out

  • What controllers will be compatible with Metroid Dread?

Pretty much any switch controller. Wireless, joycon, wired, or the switch console itself

  • So, since it is dang near impossible to pre-order the Amiibos or Special Edition of this game, does anyone know if there are plans to make a strategy guide? Because it would seem logical to have something like that produced.

Prima Games did a printed and eguide for Metroid: Samus Returns, so it's probable that they will do one for Dread as well. Hopefully that helps!
