Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the excellent gameplay, overall performance, and well-executed controls of Metroid Dread. Many appreciate the engaging story, exploration, and action-packed nature of the game, while some find the difficulty to be a positive aspect. Criticisms include concerns about certain boss encounters, the price point, and the limited presence of music. Some players also felt the game was a little too linear and that the EMMI zones became repetitive.

Controls are great, game is stunning and the gameplay is stressful BUT extremely rewarding. Definitely recommend to Metroidvania fans.

An amazing game 19 years in the making. Buy it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 19 years, I was resigned to the fact that Metroid 5 (aka Metroid Dread) was never gonna happen and I'm beyond happy I was wrong. This game looks beautiful and runs incredibly well. It'll ease newcomers into the game at first, but you'll be expected to explore and find the way forward before long. There's a decent ammount of escalating challenge throughout with boss fights, but it's not too frustrating since the game is generous with save points and automatic checkpoints before bosses. There's also a demo available on the Switch eShop in case you want to be 100% sure you'd enjoy it. I personally would highly recommend this title.

Must have for Nintendo Switch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game, graphics, and a classic for the Nintendo series. This game can be challenging and it’s short depending on the type of gamer you are. I would recommend to any gamer.

Back to what made Metroid amazing.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I strongly dislike Metroid Prime games. They feel like bad FPS knockoffs with color by number combat. This game goes back to the root of 2D wild control epic awesome. There's dialogue, which breaks my immersion that I loved so much about Metroid II growing up, but it's limited mostly to an AI that talks about what's going on since it's more complicated than M2's "your metroid tracker detects metroids, exterminate them". If you haven't played all the other games who cares, it hints at the past and thrusts you into the classic "oh you lost all your suit's upgrades, fix that k?" style of awesome.

2D Metroid goodness

Great Return to 2D Metroid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a fantastic return to the classic Metroid formula! Quite challenging, I recommend trying Super Metroid on the SNES Virtual Console first before buying

Game Of The Year
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best games on the Switch. It's incredible, even if you've never played a Metroid game before. It's pretty difficult, but far from unfair or impossible.

Pretty good.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metroid Dread is a much anticipated return to the older style of Metroid games, plus some improvements over MercurySteam's parry system from their last Metroid title, Samus Returns. I hope they make more, and also improve over issues I had with the game like the soundtrack and maybe brush up on some of the archaic systems that need updating.

Not MP4 but still great
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doesn't feel linear even if the area progression technically is, exploration is great and gameplay/combat definitely can be an intense and exciting experience.

Excellent Metroid Addition
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't let any article about the difficulty dissuade you. This is a rare gem and a great game! It's difficult but fair, stick with it because it's worth it.

for seasoned vets of the series
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A solid entry to the Metroid franchise, but definitely not the best. I've had this game for 1 week now and have gotten to the end boss. But I'm 40 and am very familiar with the NES/SNES/Gameboy style Metroid games, with weapon and hidden item upgrades etc. Younger players will find this game too confusing and difficult. Boss fights take numerous attempts and require mastery of the controls and memorization of enemy attack patterns. Some of the controls are confusing and tough to master. No button remapping options. I hate that speed boost is tied to pressing down the left control stick, and I wish you could use the Dpad for movement instead of the stick. The online complaining about not getting the morph ball right away is just stupid. Overall the game is really fun. I'm not sure if it is as replayable for me personally as Super Metroid was back in the day, but this is definitely a speedrunner's delight.

Metroid is Back1
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metroid has truly been revived thanks to MercurySteam's genuine care towards the series lately. Here's hoping Metroid Prime 4 turns out just as good!

My first Metroid game.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never actually played Metroid and I’m an older guy in my early 50s but I like to sometimes sit down and spend some time playing games. The opening sequence was extremely loooong but so far, gameplay is awesome. When I was younger, I always enjoyed side scrolling games and this is exactly what I remember but this is way more advanced. So far, really enjoying it and plan on finishing it within the next couple of years, since I don’t have much time to spend playing games. Overall, great game and glad I picked it up.

Nintendo Classic
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game keeps you going and involved. Not an easy game so it’s worth the standard $59.99. Great colors and movement and action!
