Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the excellent gameplay, overall performance, and well-executed controls of Metroid Dread. Many appreciate the engaging story, exploration, and action-packed nature of the game, while some find the difficulty to be a positive aspect. Criticisms include concerns about certain boss encounters, the price point, and the limited presence of music. Some players also felt the game was a little too linear and that the EMMI zones became repetitive.

Amazing but challenging boss fights
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish you could give half stars because this game is marvelous and deserves 4.5, but it has a few tedious moments and sometimes, it is almost too challenging, but I don’t mind that.

Beautiful gameplay
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OMG, I've only played Super Metroid 100%, gave Metroid a hard pass, and never got to play this on Game Boy. Metroid Dread is faithful to the 2D series, picks up right where Metroid Fusion left off, and the gameplay is flawless. There are parts where you think it's in cut-scene mode but it's actually part of the gameplay and the player can alter what happens next. The environment is dark and eerie, I recommend playing in the dark with earbuds to get the full immersion. Trust me, this is worth every penny, another timeless masterpiece by Nintendo.

Samus Truly Returns
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nintendo has been frustrating us for years with the painfully slow development of Metroid Prime 4. And while I do still look forward to that game, Metroid Dread has me feeling OK about MP4 taking its sweet time. This game is a reminder on why there is a whole subgenre of action-adventure games called Metroidvanias. This game is a master class and showcasing the elements that make it such a popular gaming formula in the first place. It is certainly not a perfect game, but it is an excellent effort with great care and consideration and how it was made. Hopefully with this engine in place, Nintendo can roll out sequels with greater ease, even if they have ended the original main arc Metroid storyline with this game. The teen rating is there for a reason, I definitely would not encourage younger children to play this game on their own. But that really has more to do with the mood and atmosphere that the gaming environment creates rather than anything that might be considered unsavory or taboo for typical media reasons why parents might turn away from certain games. Welcome back, Samus! May we never see you go with nearly as long of an absence in 2D Metroidvania gaming again!

Metroid returns to form in this 2D masterpiece
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Who doesn't appreciate a good 2D Metroid game? That's what you get here, plus a couple of new twists. In Metroid Dread, you'll explore the subterranean depths of the planet ZDR while avoiding the E.M.M.I. robots periodically. Samus can obtain her usual array of weapons and techniques over the course of the game (plus a couple new variations on past ones), but there's also a new counter melee attack which is essential for defeating certain enemies. As for the E.M.M.I. robots, they are a pain to avoid...but they only track you within the confines of their designated zones. Thankfully, you'll eventually obtain an Omega Cannon from each area's core to destroy the respective E.M.M.I. that haunts the region. Metroid Dread probably won't trump Super Metroid due to its nostalgia factor and timeless soundtrack, but it holds its own as a new take on the classic formula. The graphics are some of the nicest to ever grace the Switch, most areas are of a respectable size, and there's plenty of hidden items. After the mediocre Other M, it's nice to see Metroid return to its 2D roots!
