Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the excellent gameplay, overall performance, and well-executed controls of Metroid Dread. Many appreciate the engaging story, exploration, and action-packed nature of the game, while some find the difficulty to be a positive aspect. Criticisms include concerns about certain boss encounters, the price point, and the limited presence of music. Some players also felt the game was a little too linear and that the EMMI zones became repetitive.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the first Metroid title I've played since Super Metroid on the Super Nintendo, and I gotta say it really does hold up. It captures the feeling of the older title well, but is very much a brand new game. What it holds in common with the previous it's predecessor is that the controls are really tight, and it holds plenty of secrets. Lots of replay value as you unlock harder difficulties as well. You don't have to worry about missing any of the story if, like me, you haven't stayed in touch--- the game gives a brief overview of the story of all of the titles in between, but mostly I didn't buy it for the story, and that holds strong as well. If you're looking to check this game out, the demo is free on the Nintendo store, it'll let you go through the first hour or two just to get a good feel. I dunno, it's cool and I'm happy to have this Nintendo exclusive on my shelf. Would definitely recommend.

Metroid Modernized
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great evolution of the Metroid formula that brings the series into the modern era of gaming. Metroid, of course, has influenced countless games over these last three decades, and now that influence comes back home. Samus is the most agile she has ever been, and in that movement we see hints of Hollow Knight and Ori. As a result, Metroid Dread has the most satisfying combat of any game in the series thanks to the parry, sliding, and free aim mechanics. True, some of those existed in previous games, but the player was often limited by hardware (looking at you 3DS). Combine that with some of the most interesting enemies in the series, and you won't be disappointed. I would go on about the amazing level design as well, but you could go read about at Polygon, or better yet, play the game for yourself. Whether you are a veteran or a newcomer, this is a great entry in the series ---in my top 3, alongside Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.

No Dread, just awesomeness
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a bit skeptical of this when it was released due to it going old school with the partial 2D dynamics but even though that's the case, Samus delivers with loads of gameplay and fun with a difficulty that has a nostalgia from the original. Definitely worth every penny.

Metroid Dread lives up to the hype
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samus is back with more action and lore. Building on what previous titles introduced, Nintendo has definitely showed the series some love after its long absence from console. A excellent recommendation for both veterans and newcomers, how can you go wrong with Metroid!

An excellent yet frustrating game. Have patience!
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brings back fond memories of metroid on original snes. It is more challenging though and you will die a lot. The bosses can be a bit cheesy, but all in all this was a much needed metro game that was dearly missed for so long.

Must have
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best game so far and yes i have played all the metroid games including the gameboy ones. This game does not rely on nostalgia to be a good game. Gameplay and graphics are top. Story is great. As a metroid fan i wish the story would be longer but its just right.

Samus returns…
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing visuals, Minimal but intriguing story. Difficult but not unfair, Just try again until you master the gameplay and the bosses moves! Be careful though, This applies more to the old school crowd than the new school. All in all, A perfect game. 5 out of 5 stars!

Great 2D Action
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A friend of mine said, "this game is a more refined Samus Returns" and I agree. The E.M.M.I fights I think get a big repetitive by the end but it's minor. But the combat feels smooth and I think it's just fun exploring, finding new secrets.

Fun game, but better metroidvanias out there.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a very fun game with exceptional combat and movement. However, when it comes to the world design, I feel like several other metroidvanias have leapfrogged it. I very rarely felt lost, with the intended path painfully obvious for a good path of the game, till maybe 60% in. The EMMI zones got old after a while. While not a fault on the game itself, playing handheld also gave my hand cramps. Overall, a good game, but I was slightly underwhelmed after playing the Ori games and Hollow Knight.

Metroid Dread is amazing.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a 2D Platformer with elements of exploration. The combat is fast. Game has a party mechanic which is also nice. The game for the most part will guide you through exploration but you do need to keep your eyes open. Overall, fantastic video game.

A Fun and Scary pgame for Broktober
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the sixth Metroid game I've ever played, but the first one I've ever owned. I have to say it feels good playing, it challenging, the E.M.M.I.'s are terrifying, and finding secret pathways is so rewarding. All in all 10/10 quality product by Nintendo

Fan of the series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fan of the series and 2D Metroid games in general. Been having a blast with it so far. The difficulty is perfect, certain bosses can get annoying but I never felt like I couldn't them. Few tries and I got better and that motivation kept me hooked on it.

Classic 2d Metroidvania
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fun metroid game, reminds me of the classic 2d versions from years ago. I don't love the hunter killer sections of the game, but the combat and exploration are great. If you're looking for the new metroidvania game, this is a great option

Great game!
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this game! The Emmi sections are intense and frustrating at times, but the auto save points make it doable. Some bosses were tough, but otherwise a very rewarding game for any Metroid fan!

Good game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very fun game and one of the best on the Nintendo Switch. It took me about 20 hours to complete getting about 80% of the items, and there is store more to do if you want to collect all the items or play through on hard mode.

A return to form for the classic series
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metroid Dread sees the return of Samus in a new adventure since her 2002 GBA outing Metroid Fusion. Footage of the dangerous X parasites prompts Samus to once again embark on a mission to eradicate the menace, but the bounty hunter finds herself outmatched by a mysterious armored Chozo. The game boasts amazing 3D graphics on a 2.5D presentation, giving the feel of the classic 2D entries of the series, while presenting amazing visuals for the Switch system. Combat is tight, and demands considerable skill in order to conquer the treacherous depths of the planet ZDR and its many alien inhabitants. From the wildlife to the the rogue robotic EMMI, Samus will have her hands full trying to survive and uncover the mysterious plot of her armored foe. If you enjoy Metroidvania titles, then this is a must play.

Metroid: Return of the Queen
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fans rejoice! Metroid is back and the developer Mercury Steam has given the series the treatment it deserves. Samus is greater than she's ever been, showing more personality than we've seen in the series. Her actions speak louder than any words could. She is very capable, which is necessary on a planet of dangerous foes. This game is extremely difficult, but also very rewarding. The series signature abilities return, with some twists. Navigating the beautiful, yet mysterious world Mercury Steam has crafted feels great thanks to the tight controls. At 60 frames per second, Samus feels great to control and the destruction is beautiful to look at. A truly a great looking and controlling game, making it a worthy conclusion to the Metroid saga, and one of the Switches best offerings.
