Customers are saying

Customers commend the Microsoft Surface Duo 256GB for its dual screens, multitasking capabilities, and stunning design. They appreciate the long battery life and thin profile, which makes it highly portable. However, customers express concerns about the camera quality, software bugs and glitches, and limited RAM, which can hinder multitasking.

Great phone with the bad battery

Wonderful idea. Horrible battery life. If used, around 4-5 hrs of usage. Phone is fast, using 2 apps at the same time is great, but... Microsoft needs to comeup with the new battery or something. I would prefer the phone being thicker, but lasting longer. Another con is that you can really only use the sleeve as a case. Others either do not fit or do not keep phone save. This would be my second suggestion: Microsoft may need to make phone less fragile by using metal instead of the glass, or send the phone with specifically designed case.

Good hardware and with all the updates rolling out some improvements have been made but there is still has a long road ahead before it’s good enough to call it a phone other a glorified pda.

Great "phone" computer! I am so happy with the Surface Duo. I am a long time iphone user - and just needed a larger screen. And this device convinced me as I am more productive than ever! Very fast!

I am normally a Samsung user but have elected to switch to the Microsoft Surface Duo. On the positive side this phone does have some nice features that I am enjoying. Such as the ability to use both screens for different apps without the harshness of a small screen. I enjoy that programs I prefer like Microsoft word are able to be utilized on this phone. I am liking that is has excel as I am considering going to an electronic register for my accounts. The physical aspect of this phone is nice, it has a good size and weight to it. I was worried that if needed I would not be able to fit in my pocket however that is not the case. The hinge seems like it is well built and will last for some time. The outside for the most part does not show fingerprints except for the shiny windows logo. The screen on the other hand like most is an absolute magnet for them as most are without a screen protector on it. It like most phones has preinstalled apps some of which you can uninstall some you cannot so nothing abnormal there. The battery so far has been lasting well. Keep in mind when this phone is fully open and you are using both screens as one screen there is a little gap between the middle which to some degree is to be expected and only mildly disturbing for some items. While it does have a decent amount of memory I wish it could be expanded. On the negative side even by doing the update that was required straight out of the box the phone still has issues. It frequently glitches or even just fails to know what to do. There are times I unlock the screen and all it does is show me my wallpaper but will not show the apps. Other times it doesn’t respond to the touch etc. With only having one camera and them putting it on the main screen instead of the back has proved to be extremely frustrating. Some times when you fold it to try and use the other screen as a viewfinder it fails to know that is what you want. So unless all you do is take selfies good luck. I find myself reverting to my old phone when I need to take a picture quickly and efficiently. The volume controls are a pain. I only keep my ringer on at night for emergency calls from family and generally everything else is set to silent usually I just use the volume controls to accomplish this in a split second when I am ready. However this phone does not allow for that. About the only way I have discovered to do that is by using focus mode in which I can turn off all apps that I do not want to go off during a set time period. Yes you can set it for the same start and end time for up to everyday of the week but since my schedule varies I have to do it pretty much every night. Also I like to keep my screens clutter free and group like items into folders that I can easily and quickly access them as needed. This phone disappoints there too. I can only do that on the main screens and not in the app screen. I do not care to have that many items on my home screens so this is not very good for me in that sense. Also it does not have a headphone jack in the event that you want to use wired earphones so you have to buy an adapter. When using a wireless earphone with this phone it tends to pick up static interference and doesn’t always maintain a clear connection even if holding still holding your phone. Also yes you can use a pen but that is another purchase etc… So basically Microsoft had a good base idea but fell short on really producing an amazing product. Not much bang for the buck is included with this phone. It all boils down to features that you are looking for and how you are going to use it. Since it does take some time to get used to a new phone I will give it a bit longer but I may end up giving up on this one. I have had this phone for about 4 days now. It does have some pro and cons. Cons: -No NFC. I like being able to use Samsung or Google pay with my other phone. -The camera is not the best. Not by 2020 standards. -Using the camera requires a bit of a learning curve. -The Surface pen can attach to the magnet on the back, but there is no home for it. -Nothing on the outside to check time or notifications. -No light to see the phone is charging while phone is closed. Pros: -Great screen size -Nice to hold in book pose -This is a good-looking phone! -The bumper that comes with each phone is a nice protector and saves you money. -Synchs with and have access to Microsoft Suite products. Overall, I think this makes a nice companion phone and I think it is 100% a step in the right direction. When Microsoft works on the next version, I know that it will be even better. I’ve gotten so much done with this little but powerful workhorse! I’ve set up all my work accounts on it and my business accounts. When I don’t want to pull out my laptop I can just pull out my Duo and get it done. It’s awesome!

l had trouble closing Apps. With this phone It didn't have buttons / Icon at the bottom of the screen to close, go back or to check what app were open. To close an app you slid your finger from the bottom left corner. Sometime I could not get that to work. The app also had to be on the right screen to even try and close it. If you didn't do it right you my end up opening up something else. So I return It.
